one time this nondescript guy came into my dunkin donuts and ordered a small black coffee with blueberry flavor shot, and for some reason that peculiar order stuck with me so much that when, seven months later, i saw him in the parking lot walking towards the door, i quickly made a small black coffee with blueberry flavor shot. he ordered it and i was already holding it.

it’s such a perfectly bonkers order because like, most unusual orders are maximalist and sugary but this one just combines the most basic drink with the most incongruous little add-on. it’s the order of a simple, regular man who has something wrong with him
this post always makes me laugh. this guy has the weirdest drink order and he probably never goes to this dunkin’ if it took seven months for the barista to see him again. so think about a coffee shop you go to so little you’re not even sure if you’ve gone there before and you walk in and the barista hands you the drink you were about to order before you even ordered it. he will remember that for the rest of his life

It’s weird how geological time works. Eras start and end bit by bit over the course of hundreds of thousands of years. That sounds like a big uncertainty but that sort of timescale, on which the climate can overhaul itself completely and entire species rise and fall, is instantaneous compared to the age of the earth. Any hypothetical sentient creature would have no idea it was living through a major turning point. The post is saying that people often label things that trans people do as being a result of growing up as a certain gender even when they wouldn’t make that type of claim about a cis person acting the exact same way. In fact some people might celebrate that type of person or see them as normal or unremarkable if they didn’t know they were trans.
I think it’d fuck to have an advanced survival mode in cotl where you’d have to account for seasons and such though I think it would require a lot of tweeking with the base games mechanics to make it work. The base management portion is fun but pretty simply and I think I’m order to make it more complex you’d have to change the way time passes in crusades to keep the gameplay feedback loop balanced.
Preoccupied by the way polyamory is treated with hate. I’ve gotten hate for even approaching the subject in the past. There’s so much violent rhetoric and ideation surrounding it, so much genuine bigotry and prejudice towards people who practice it. But if you mention that, you get met with dismissal. You’d think simply changing the structure of a relationship wouldn’t be a problem, but even the most ardent defenders of equality can begin to say some pretty awful shit. Problem is, fundamentally, it is not seen as legitimate. It’s not seen as deserving respect. There’s all this handwringing about how these relationships are doomed to fail in order to justify this kind of thought and speech. It’s bizarre to watch unfold. Frankly, it’s the same sentiment and a lot of the same jokes as those cracked about nonbinary people. We’re at a point where we’ve firmly accepted that everyone has a right to do what they want within the structure of social norms, you can take any side you want and do it with whoever you want. But as soon as you step outside of those norms, as soon as you go beyond the boundaries of social convention to find what suits you personally, everybody becomes a bitter reactionary.
it’s genuinely wild how hawaii’s independence isn’t like, a huge and widely recognized issue. that’s one of the US’s biggest and most glaringly memorable crimes and it just continues on and on instead of being righted in any way. like holy shit how is hawaii still a state. it’s downright fucked that people just casually live there and visit there to this day in 2024 knowing full well that, at the very least, it was a sovereign nation that the US conquered by force in the late 1950’s. there are people alive now who are older than hawaii’s statehood. idk it’s one of those things that just baffles me. stop going to hawaii, leave them alone
