The entirety of Dreamscaperers is them delving into the depths of Stan’s psyche, going through his memories, all while fighting his brother’s ex-boyfriend and it somehow just. Doesn’t come up. Yes, even if you’re neurodivergent. I don’t have ADHD, but it is allegedly a thing with ADHD as well. And I am autistic, and after a bunch of nerve damage (severe enough that I was basically housebound for 6 months), I had to completely rebuild my ability to get my brain to Do Things from what felt like nearly scratch.

• Play games or video games where you have to make a lot of decisions. Literally go make a ton of picrews or do online dress-up dolls if you like. It helped me.
• Art, especially forms of art that require patience, planning ahead, or in contrast improvisation
• Listening to longform storytelling without visuals, e.g. just listening regularly to audiobooks or narrative podcasts, etc.
• Meditation
• Martial arts
• Sports in general
• Board games like chess or Catan (I actually found a big list of what board games are good for building what executive functioning skills here)
• Woodworking
• Cooking
• If you’re bad at time management play games or video games with a bunch of timers

Things can be easier. You do not have to be stuck forever.

Just today I got to see a chess book that I remember reading as a little kid. While it didn’t give me a lifelong passion for chess, it did give me a lifelong passion for fantasy for its artwork.

The book is “Chess for Young Beginners” from 1975, and here’s some of the artwork:

Like, this artwork goes hard. I especially appreciate the colour scheme for the black pieces, with its browns, bronzes, reds and oranges.

actually, seeing young queers who use neopronouns helped me feel more comfortable in using pronouns i genuinely like as opposed to pronouns i feel obligated to use for everyone else’s comfort. actually, seeing young queers who identify as things like gaybians, fagdykes, lesboys, girlfags, and other “contradictory” labels made me feel more confident in being those things, too. there is something to be said about the bravery of people who are just learning how to express themselves fully.
