Sometimes I remember that “I’m so fucking normal right now” is a line from disco elysium. like that’s such a sentence from a tumblr post to me but no. harry du bois said that. out loud. he would do numbers on here
Dear god why is the print industry so opaque. JUST TELL ME IF, WHEN AND HOW MY AUSTRALIAN, EUROPEAN AND ASIAN READERS CAN GET MY BOOK IN PRINT, DRAFT2DIGITAL. I AM DROWNING IN VARIOUS ITERATIONS OF THIS QUESTION IN MY INBOX.
I know I don’t shut up about this but frankly not enough people are angry about the 5-day/40 hour workweek (and I am AWARE a lot of people work even more than that). I feel like a lot more people should be absolutely furious that we only really have two days a week and some occasional hours in the evening to socialise, run errands, do chores, or relax.
It’s no wonder so many people are profoundly lonely and disconnected from their communities when maintaining a social life in what little free time we have is incredibly difficult. If you have kids, a second job, a very long commute, or other responsibilities, it’s nearly impossible.
We literally aren’t meant to live like this and I’ll never stop being shocked how many people just take it as the natural state of things and don’t want to throw a brick through a billionaire’s window every time they think of it.
making a quick post to share my ko-fi and the goal i have set to get some money to get my driver’s license, something i really really really need if i’m ever going to get away from my current situation! i’ll be making a larger, more in-depth post come june to try and get some money saved up to move later this year, but for now take this small chunk of a much larger issue that i need to deal with.
if you can’t donate please share this around! there’s no immediate rush on this but i would like to be able to get my license by the end of this month/beginning of next month
Pride season is approaching and if I hear ANYONE speak poorly of bisexual women with boyfriends/husbands I’ll pop all your tires okay thx for listeninggg <3
so loving men isn’t a curse. loving men isn’t “unfortunate”. loving men isn’t a bad thing. yes, we can joke about how awful men can be, but it gets to a a point where this mentality can really hurt. it can really feed into you hating yourself for something you can’t control. loving men is something special. loving yourself is just as beautiful.
‘people can write whatever the fuck they want’ and 'its good to approach writing about sensitive topics with some diligence and forethought’ are statements which can and do coexist
I can’t believe none of this post shows off the actual most unique feature of this squid!!
One eye of this species is normal, the other is more than twice as big and bugged out. Each has different sensitivity to light levels so she can aim one up (towards the brighter sky) and the other down (to the darker depths) as needed.
No other animal has this setup that we’ve ever found!! You can’t ignore her monocle!!!
Howdy folks, the job market sucks ass and im out of unemployment benefits SO I am needing help getting together 765usd for this month’s rent and a little more for upcoming bills and to feed myself and my cats. I am opening my commissions queue back up (there are a few left I need to complete but I am desperate rn) And I am leaving my Info below for people who would rather donate than commission me at this time.
Please help if you can, I cannot stress enough that every little bit helps. From a dollar or two to a sketch commission.
Update: My commissions queue is very full right now but I still need a hand in getting together rent for the month of August and groceries! If you are able to help out with donations or commissions that may take a while to be completed I would really appreciate it!
Down to the last 10 days before rent is due. I still do not have nearly enough ;n; Remember any help is greatly appreciated, yall have no idea.
Hey guys, i am once again here to ask for money because a whole bunch of shit just came to light and i urgently need to get our rent taken care of, so long story short:
My mom has apparently been lying about paying our bills, including rent, car payment, etc. I found out about our rent not being paid a few days ago, after we got served a notice of eviction in the mail for nonpayment in June. It’s now august, which means we’re three months behind on rent. We’ve spoken with the office and if we can get the rent paid before August 8th (the day of the hearing) the eviction will get thrown out and we’ll be good until next month.
We had plans to go to a rental assistance place today, but when we woke up, turns out our car had been repossessed last night, thus taking away our ability to go to the assistance place and our ability to work. After spending a solid hour trying to figure out why our car was missing, turns out we got a text on Friday notifying us of the repossession, that my mom knew about and chose to ignore.
So I desperately need to get our rent taken care of until we can get our car back, because if the eviction goes through we have nowhere to go and no way to get out. Additionally, i’m not even able to take emergency commissions at this time until the replacement power cords for my tablet get here.
Rent for the last three months is $777, but after the slew of convenience fees they charge us with, it’ll be closer to $800
i’m going to try and see if i can get my mom to cover whatever we have left by the 8th to make the full payment but with her track record it’s not guaranteed. If you can’t donate please reblog!
Update!
uh hi, wow, i was not expecting so much help in the 7 hours since i posted this, but i’ve reached my goal already!! i have all the money that i need to pay the rent, which i’ll be able to do tomorrow or wednesday when our leasing office is open. just, wow. you guys are amazing, thank you all so much!
Apparently a lot of people get dialogue punctuation wrong despite having an otherwise solid grasp of grammar, possibly because they’re used to writing essays rather than prose. I don’t wanna be the asshole who complains about writing errors and then doesn’t offer to help, so here are the basics summarized as simply as I could manage on my phone (“dialogue tag” just refers to phrases like “he said,” “she whispered,” “they asked”):
“For most dialogue, use a comma after the sentence and don’t capitalize the next word after the quotation mark,” she said.
“But what if you’re using a question mark rather than a period?” they asked.
“When using a dialogue tag, you never capitalize the word after the quotation mark unless it’s a proper noun!” she snapped.
“When breaking up a single sentence with a dialogue tag,” she said, “use commas.”
“This is a single sentence,” she said. “Now, this is a second stand-alone sentence, so there’s no comma after ‘she said.’”
“There’s no dialogue tag after this sentence, so end it with a period rather than a comma.” She frowned, suddenly concerned that the entire post was as unasked for as it was sanctimonious.
And!
“If you’re breaking dialogue up with an action tag”—she waves her hands back and forth—”the dashes go outside the quotation marks.”
Reblog to save a writer’s life.
Thank you
Oh my god thank you. No wonder grammarly keeps complaining about my punctuation when I boot my writing up into word counter
Once again I am broke as shit. I’m DoorDashing my ass off but Q’s paycheck was less now that the health insurance is getting taken out of it and it didn’t cover all of rent like it would have before. I am still looking for having a regular job but it’s terrible out here.
So with the late charge of $160 I now need $412 before 4pm tomorrow, Aug 9th.
I’m going to keep DoorDashing but I know it’s going to be almost impossible to get that much so fast.
Right now I have DoorDashed $67 and will continue to work tonight and tomorrow.
If you can help, please use my Ko-Fi or Venmo to donate, but even if you reblog this, it would be amazing. As always, I am more than willing to draw for money and my commissions pricing here.

💚🏳️🌈🇲🇽 This pride month I want us to remember Jesús Ociel
[Plain text: This pride month I want us to remember Jesús Ociel]
Jesús Ociel Baena Saucedo (1984-2023) was the very first non-binary person in Latin America to become an electoral magistrate, being a member of the Electoral Tribunal of Aguascalientes in Mexico since October 2022. They also received the first birth certificate to have the sex registered as Non-Binary, a big achievement in the recognition of Non-Binary people.

Amongst other things, they defended trans youth, gay marriage, the fair hiring of LGBTQ+ people in the INE and overall pushed for a public acceptance and the stop of discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community. Jesús was known for going to work with high heels, makeup and their iconic fan with the rainbow flag, often carrying the non-binary flag too, and they fought to give visibility to non-binary people. They won the hearts of thousands.
They are considered a very important figure for the LGBTQ+ movement, specially in Latin America, as they fought very hard to defend the rights of it, both socially and politically.
They were found dead with their partner, Dorian Daniel Herrera, in the 13th of November of 2023 in Aguascalientes, in their home. The prosecutor’s office affirms it was due to a fight the two of them had, but many say it was a hate crime; the murder of activists are not too uncommon in Mexico, and even more considering their gender identity and sexuality. The ‘crime of passion’ judgement is also often put when the death of an LGBTQ+ person happens.
Either way, their death has sparked movements to punish hate crimes, and their figure remains as a symbol of hope for a better future. Mexico has a long way to go for LGBTQ acceptance, but their actions have pushed towards that goal and their memory continues to push forward. I recommend you investigate further about them if you have the time.
And in your fight for LGBTQ+ rights and your celebrations this pride month, please do not forget about Jesús Ociel.
