I dunno man. I found out today that a subway sandwich is $14 now. A shitty subway footlong sandwich that isn’t actually 12 inches long and is occasionally made with expired ingredients and was never a great option to start with. I ate those in high school because I was broke and at the mall a lot.

There are poke bowls in my city from a local place for $16. Super fresh fish and veg, warm rice, more than I can eat in one sitting, for the price of a sandwich and a drink at america’s most mid-tier sandwich shop.

Someone in another post said (paraphrased) you used to be able to get something mediocre for cheap, but now the mediocre things cost as much as the nice things so why would you?

I love it when the Wikipedia article for a manga series will include a lengthy discussion of its complete publication history, including periodical names, dates, volume numbers, relevant reprints and reissues, and even ISBNs for specific collected editions, but at no point does it get around to describing that the series is actually about.

Christians hate when a gay man goes “fuck it, I’ll gladly go to Hell if you want me to so bad” because it takes the edge away from their tools of fear. If they can’t scare you with threats of eternal damnation then one of their main weapons is taken away.

calling out @brightismarstonight because yes

“You’re supposed to fear your father/parents” this isn’t the first time I’ve seen someone say that someone told them this in the tags. Christianity as an institution is one of the biggest shelters for abusers out there and this shit right here is how they do it.

one of the first things i learned in a fucking summer vacation theater camp for kids was about how to emote on stage. the counselor wrote “LOVE” on the board and asked the class if anyone knew what the opposite of love was. naturally the whole class responds with “HATE”

he said we were all wrong and wrote “FEAR” on the board.

fear does not equal love. fear does not equal respect. fear will never be part of a healthy relationship with anyone or anything and if fear is being used against you in the name of love then thats a huge red flag if ive ever seen one

i don’t need tumblr premium because I report every ad I see

‘is this ad malicious?’ as far as I’m concerned all ads are malicious

advertising should be completely illegal if the company makes more than a certain amount of money and below that threshold it should be heavily regulated and only allowed in very specific places and scenarios.

for example, ads playing in the background in a supermarket are fine, but forcing me to watch one before and every youtube video should be outlawed.

a basic rule of thumb is if it inconveniences the consumer outside of their control it’s not okay.

so advertisements in games that you can choose to watch for a reward would be fine, since you consented to seeing that advertisement.

in general i dont think fandom tattoos are a bad idea but i think u need to at least give yourself like a two year buffer from the end of that piece of media before you commit. like if someone told me “yeah im obsessed with hazbin hotel rn so im gonna get a hazbin hotel tattoo” id be like woah okay maybe put a pin in that idea for later. but if someone told me “yeah i read homestuck in its prime and i still love it so im gonna get a homestuck tattoo” id be like well fair enough its been like eight years. if you still like it now you’ll probably still have fond memories of it in 20 years. you do you.

that being said shoutout to my old supervisor who heard one of his coworkers owned a tatttoo gun and came in the next day with bart simpson on his ass. i hope hes having a real one.

transfems shouldn’t have to change every aspect of themselves to be palatable to wider society if you can’t handle a woman with a husky voice that doesn’t swing her hips when she walks that doesn’t stand up straight and talk like some upper class white bitch you’re weak and you will NOT survive the winter

only in australia could a case called tickle vs giggle be a milestone in the battle for the rights of trans women

to quote one of the linked articles directly:

The decision provides much needed clarity around the meaning of “sex”, a word not defined in the Sex Discrimination Act. Importantly, Justice Bromwich stated that “in its contemporary ordinary meaning, sex is changeable”.

He also noted the concept of sex has broadened over the past 30 years, especially as people can change the sex listed on their birth certificates. He said:

The acceptance that Ms Tickle is correctly described as a woman, reinforcing her gender identity status for the purposes of this proceeding, and therefore for the purposes of bringing her present claim of gender identity discrimination, is legally unimpeachable.

The court unequivocally rejected the argument that sex is immutable: that the sex that was presumed and assigned to a person at birth is the sex someone will always be. Justice Bromwich stated:

the sex of a person may take into account a range of factors, including biological and physical characteristics, legal recognition and how they present themselves and are recognised socially.

The court found Grover did not actually know that Tickle was transgender. She excluded her from the app based on her opinion that Tickle was a man. Justice Bromwich stated:

Of course, given Ms Grover’s views, her decision almost certainly would have been the same had she been aware of Ms Tickle’s gender identity. For Ms Grover, there is no legitimate distinction between transgender women and cisgender men.

A cisgender person is someone whose gender identity corresponds with their sex assigned at birth.

This judgement means it’s unlawful for a person to make decisions about whether someone is, or is not, a woman based on the sex that was originally recorded on their birth certificate, or based on how feminine they appear.

It will constitute discrimination if a person is required to have the appearance of a cisgender woman as a prerequisite to accessing a particular service.

trope i don’t see enough: the more experienced character having to guide the less experienced character through something very difficult and important. maybe they’re behind glass or bars or on the phone. maybe they have to do surgery or stitches or defuse a bomb or repair some machinery. ..

it’s about suddenly being thrust into something you’re absolutely not prepared for and still doing your best anyway. and also about having to watch as their hands tremble and they’re struggling to piece together your instructions. if they make a single wrong move it’s over. do you get it?

Since people are actually being pretty positive toward Minecraft Story Mode after all these years and it’s kind of making a resurgence, and since mcsm is no longer really around to play like it used to be—I thought I’d share how to still “play it.” Remember when mscm was on Netflix and then got taken off? Well, the entire Netflix version of mcsm is ON YOUTUBE!! And still interactive!!

Only downsides to this are that it only includes episodes 1-5 (season 1), it doesn’t include all the gameplay features (you can only choose options, no button mashing or anything), and there are less dialogue options at times. However, it is essentially the same as the real game overall, and completely the same as the Netflix version (some of the visuals and emotions and such are actually improved on the Netflix version compared to the original)

If you want to play the FULL GAME (season 1 and 2) with all of the gameplay, here’s another source for downloading it across multiple kinds of devices

Have fun!!

Mongolians are cool because they’ve merged their traditional and modern ways of life so rather than having poverty due to losing all their important skills they just live in their yurts with their cows and 827474874mbs internet

sure their GDP in dollars is low but when you can survive like your anscestors did it doesn’t mean anything, nothing wrong with adding a motorcycle and wifi into the mix

Everyone should live like their ancestors did 1000 years ago but with the addition of wifi tbh

Diglett is perfectly adapted to its semi-subterranean lifestyle, never fully emerging from the ground. A Diglett reaches maturity only when all three of its heads reach the same developmental level, after which it is considered a Dugtrio. Most individuals reach this stage after two years.

Dugtrio are hermaphroditic, and breed only once in their lives. Both individuals then begin producing buds, which separate from the parent Dugtrio and become Digletts after ~two months. All Digletts produced by a single Dugtrio are genetically identical. Because of their extremely prolific nature, most people consider them pests. Dugtrio can live upwards of three years, during which they produce hundreds of thousands of offspring. However, captive Dugtrio that have been successfully prevented from breeding can easily live five times as long.

Everyone has their headcannons for what Diglett looks like below ground, and this is mine ;P

i need the creators of the minecraft movie to actually sit down, and play minecraft. to start a survival world and build their first shitty house and experience the excitement of upgrading your tools and weapons and armour. to go to the nether and find a fortress and trade with the pigmen. to eventually go to the end and kill the enderdragon and struggle to pick up the egg. i need them to beat the game for the first time and see “and the universe said i love you because you are love”

When my mom was growing up, her household didn’t have a home security system, so my grandpa, a physicist, brought home a disused “Warning: Lasers In Use” sign from his workplace and displayed it to deter break-ins. It cracks me up imagining a potential burglar going “No… surely not…. but maybe I should pick a different house to rob, just to be safe.”

I love how varied and universally weird the circumstances for making lifelong friendships are. Here’s this guy I accidentally messaged once and I could not imagine my life without them now. Here’s this girl I was so scared of when I met her, I would kill for her and remind her to rest on the regular. Here’s this other guy we have so much in common we used to joke we were the same person in different timelines. It took us years to meet in person and I attended his wedding. There are also people who entered my life in absolutely unremarkable ways but changed it forever for the better. It’s wonderful how easy it is to find people to love.
