Tumblr has new UI to actually show reply chains in posts as actual reply chains. This is objectively a good thing. But also I absolutely will mourn the incomprehensible disaster mess of opening replies to see someone at-mentioning another account with accusations of war crimes and then scrolling through 157 replies to try to figure out who in the fuck they’re responding to.

And after going through 157 replies you never actually find the OG reply because it’s since been blocked/deleted/hidden/that person has changed their URL and is effectively hiding in the crowd like a dude in a chase montage who stole a hat and a jacket off a mannequin

Hello Family

How are you all, it’s been extremely difficult to reach Abdallah, we keep missing each other, the area he is in now has very little internet, I manage to reach once a day so far he is doing ok

He has been rescuing kittens, his wounds are not healed all the way but he continues to scour the areas and bring cats to the shelter

Things are very difficult, there has been no aid so prices are ridiculous, but with your continued support they have managed to survive and keep the fur babies fed and healthy and also has been able to help those in their community

I am including a few pics of the rescues, this was 1 days ago, the cats are healing and safe in the shelter

My fav part is that it is genuinely just a bot. All it does is take two countries, puts the 2nd country’s colours on the 1st country’s flag and mixes their names together.

Literally the only other thing behind it is that the bot weights picking the second country based on how close they are to the first, and basic geography + history means that’s also where you’re going to get the most aggressive relations. This isn’t some guy trolling by making things specifically to piss people off, it’s some guy who likes flags going “wouldn’t it be fun to mix flags together, let’s write a bot for that” and accidentally creating a whole meme culture of “days since flag mashup bot last tried to start WW3 = 0” and the like.

I think he was about three weeks old in these photos! He was still pretty tentative about leaving cover and shadowed his mom, Loretta, pretty closely.

(The zoo confirmed in a Facebook comment that yes, the whole family is named after country singers: Dad is named Willie Nelson.)

The blog post that announced his birth (the day before I got there!) stated erroneously that Reeve’s muntjac is the smallest deer species.
