the Olympics Committee has (I think?) recently broken ties with the IBA citing various ethical concerns so both athletes were re-evaluated and allowed to compete
the current controversy is mostly focusing on Imane Khelif bcos she basically one-shotted another boxer but people, including JK Rowling, are also saying that Lin Yu-Ting shouldn’t be allowed to compete

contrary to popular belief not everyone has an innate sense of internal gender or care to have one or seek a name for it, some people go their whole lives without questioning their occupation in one of two gender roles, but for some people, if pressed, they don’t feel that internal sense of ‘i am a woman’ or ‘i am a man’, and in that case i feel the switch over to transgender vs cisgender relies on active identification of a gender other than the one they were assigned. if someone’s like ‘idk dude I just work here’ then that’s valid
A portion of people in the notes are like ‘but that makes you trans. That’s called being agender’ and another portion of people are going ‘this is how the majority of cis ppl feel and it’s NOT agender’ and personally I feel like both of them are missing the point here. Yes a lot of people identify as agender because of this feeling. Yes a lot of people with this same feeling still identify as cis. These are not mutually exclusive experiences and it doesn’t mean the agender people are secretly cis or the cis people are secretly agender. Actually, I think the medical community could get better at recognizing that all sorts of infections can set of long lasting or permanent autoimmune fuckery in people who are predisposed. That includes neurological symptoms. It doesn’t only happen in kids and it doesn’t only happen with things that are trying to look like human proteins, it can happen due to cross reactions and stuff too.
When you have severe enough autoimmune fuckery you find out really quickly that any infection of any kind, or even a severe allergy attack, can mean new lasting symptoms in any bodily system or new chronic pain. Lots of well known viruses or bacteria that are “so common tho” can trigger a permanent worsening of symptoms, or new symptoms.
We’re starting to see this happen a lot more visibly with Covid and long covid, but that kind of reaction has always existed for people with a trigger happy immune system. Ms cfs fibromyalgia and etc are all now understood to be complex reactions to herpes family viruses which had previously not been understood to cause life long debilitating symptoms that were anything more than cosmetic or a bit of -sometimes severe- surface pain.
A virus I caught in my 20’s made me develop narcolepsy! And some vaccines cause this too, in some vulnerable people, because they are designed to cause an immune reaction! [you should still probably get vaccinated for whatever you can, this is not an anti-vax argument, just recognize some people can’t.] This shit has been happening to me through my life and worsening any time I am exposed to specific pathogens! I promise it isn’t just kids. And we should study it more.
The thing is, youth liberation cannot be achieved without the end of capitalism and the liberation of workers. We cannot expect to gain our human and civil rights by working with the bourgeois system, because the bourgeoisie relies on the dehumanization and subjugation of youth to have the workers feel like they still have some kind of property. Your rights under capitalism are directly tied to your ability to produce capital. Since children cannot produce capital, and teenagers are not guaranteed the fruits of their labor, they are subjugated by the adult bourgeoisie. Hell, even CPS exists to pacify the youth (feeling like there’s a way out of abusive situations) and adults because CPS protects their “rights” to abuse kids. Calling for expansion of CPS is capitulation and will inevitably be weaponized against parents who treat their kids with respect. The best solution is securing the right for youth to leave of their own free will and have a place to go, which can’t happen as long as housing is commodified under capitalism.
If we are to fight for youth liberation, mere protests and petitions and (anarchistic) individual action will not do anything because the current system hinges on the oppression of children and workers. The solution is to ally the revolutionary struggle for the working class and the struggle for children’s rights. It is no coincidence that socialist countries like the Soviet Union and the DDR advocated for the protection of children from violence and recognition as people, or that their education systems were largely more democratic. Youth alone are not a big enough sector of the masses to make a real change, and real change cannot exist within the current system, so the best course of action in terms of youth liberation is to align with the revolutionary movement.
In Marx’s time, women’s liberation was unheard of, and yet he championed it as a goal of socialism. The DDR decriminalized homosexuality 20 years before West Germany did. Now that youth rights are the new frontier, there is little doubt in my mind it will be the (revolutionary) socialists who lead the way.

for my fellow psychotics who struggle with thinking someone is in their house, a method I’ve found that really works are these guys:
i put them on my front door and anytime it opens they ring. that way if i think someone has broken in or i see someone who isn’t there i can think back to if the bells have rung, and if they haven’t i can assure myself it’s not real. obviously it’s not fool proof, like if you are prone to auditory hallucinations, but it has really helped me calm down in time to avoid major psychotic breaks. it’s a real lifesaver

It’s a sunny Saturday afternoon, so it’s a good time to remind everyone that the concept of “enabling” is ableist, capitalist propaganda.
The “enabling” concept originated in the context of addiction – the premise being that friends and family of addicted people should not help the addicted person continue to use drugs or alcohol. Even in this original context, it’s rather heartless – addicted people can literally die from drug withdrawal; they can’t always just choose to stop taking drugs.
But it’s been taken much further in a capitalist society where being poor and being disabled are considered “bad choices.” Even the most rudimentary aid to the poor is classified as “enabling.” Privileged people are allowed to frame themselves as rationally displaying “tough love” by allowing people to starve and die in the streets.
Recently, a free public toilet for homeless people was criticized as “enabling.” Because if people with no home, no money, few possessions, and minimal access to hygiene are allowed to use the toilet, this may “enable” their “choice” to be poor. Somehow if they have no toilet, the desperation might somehow “motivate” poor people to… generate money and a home, somehow. This is the depth of the capitalist belief that making poor people suffer is good, actually, because poverty is their own fault.
This, of course, also applies to disability. Equal access “enables” disabled people to choose to be disabled. With enough barriers in place, we will become motivated to simply choose to be abled.
In particular, this capitalist-classist-ableist-neurobigoted trope applies at the intersection of psychiatrically disabled people who choose not to use medication, and also are poor, unemployed, or homeless. Material assistance is denounced as “enabling” psychiatrically disabled poor people’s “bad choice” to opt out of psychiatric medication, as it is presumed that, if they were pressured or forced to accept medication (or were desperate enough to acquiesce to it), they would become neurotypical-passing, and be hired for some well-paying job that would lift them out of poverty. Of course, this isn’t how psychiatric medication nor capitalism actually work.
All people deserve a basic standard of living. Food. Shelter. Bodily autonomy. Healthcare with consent. Bathrooms. No one “chooses” to be poor and desperate. Reject the narrative of “enabling.”
