My mom decided to weigh in on this, on the side of the Italian boxer, thinking I’d allow her to repeat bullshit talking points for some reason (never have allowed that shit, especially not from someone who raised me not to tolerate racism or anything that ends with someone being put down)…I made her stay on the line until she admitted she was wrong.
Stop making twinks pregnant their small frames and brittle bones are NOT fit for childbearing instead you should only make big masculine men with fat asses pregnant bcs that’s more ethical
I like how teens are too young to figure out their sexuality unless its heterosexual
Idk how people find this old post like once a week but I will say as a closeted 15 year old nothing can describe how much confidence it gave me that everyone agreed with me. That it’s all bullshit. I was so angry and frustrated at the world not taking me seriously, and the thousands and thousands of people reblogging showed me that I wasn’t alone. I wasn’t crazy and heteronormativity is all bullshit. Being queer is as natural as breathing air.
How is bnha anime of the decade…… they aren’t even anime of the hour of the minute of the second
The notes on this post were so toxic that staff just axed em
1969………
Yes, when the original post is deleted from the server (not just the blog, but the Tumblr servers), there is no root post for notes to be added onto, and also no root post for time to be counted from, so it starts from zero. Most computer operating systems use Unix, which was launched in 1971 with the epoch date of midnight on January 1, 1970 as 1. Therefore zero is one second behind that date: December 31, 1969. Also, very unfortunately, this also means nobody except you and anyone you reblog it to will see this explanation, as you cannot open the notes to see comments when there are no notes.
Weirdly anti-millennial articles have scraped the bottom of the barrel so hard that they are now two feet down into the topsoil
its so wild like “this generation with no fucking money is learning to prioritize essentials” and all these chucklefucks can write is advertisements for these companies
at least our jeans won’t tear at the seams after two washes
FUCK FABRIC SOFTENER IT’S UTTERLY POINTLESS
AND FUCK DRYER SHEETS LITERALLY NOBODY EVER HAS ENOUGH OF A PROBLEM WITH STATIC TO WARRANT PAYING OUT THE ASS FOR THAT SHIT
DO YOU WANT CLEAN CLOTHES? YOU DON’T EVEN NEED TO BUY FUCKING DETERGENT JUST MAKE YOUR OWN* IT’S SO GODDAMN EASY AND 80X CHEAPER
FUCK THE ENTIRE LAUNDRY INDUSTRY
*Fuck The Entire Laundry Industry Recipe
1 cup Washing Soda (not Baking Soda. Different things.)
1 cup Borax (not Boric Acid. Also a different thing.)
½ cup - 1 cup grated bar soap (you can use literally anything. I often use Ivory because it’s easy to get and I find it works well, a lot of people like Fels-Naptha, which is an actual laundry bar. Some people use Dr. Bronner’s. Really does not fucking matter.)
After grating your soap, combine all ingredients. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. Use maybe a ¼ cup per load.
^^^ I’ve done this for years now and it works as well as any store bought detergent
WHAT Thank you, tumblr user awfullydull! Your URL does no justice to the good advice you give!
Also you can MAKE your own washing soda very VERY cheaply.
Step one: acquire $5 bag of baking soda from Costco.
Step two: lay that motherfucking baking soda out on a baking tray.
Step three: bake the baking soda on a tray in an oven at 400° for 1 hour (to make the moisture evaporate, leaving washing soda)
Step four: revel in how easy and cheap it is to make your own washing soda, and maybe take a moment to be angry that the industry upcharges the fuck out of something that is so easy to make.
I see some of y'all complaining about static and/or wanting nice smelling laundry. Go to a craft store, find 100% wool yarn balls. If it doesn’t come in a ball, ask an employee to make it into a tight ball for you. Wash in the washing machine to make it felted. Remove from washer, add a few drops of essential oil to the ball, allow to seep in. Dry with clothing. Doesn’t need to be rewashed ever, and if it stops smelling, add few more drops of essential oil. Bam, reusable dryer sheets.
I love this post so much it’s filled with helpful advice, hatred, saving money, and fucking the system all in one
Megacorps like Disney have mountains of exclusive data they “own” that they can use to create their own internal, proprietary, AI systems. They have every sketch, development photo, unused concept art piece, cut scene, note, doodle, rotoscope/animation reference footage, every storyboard, merch design document, you name it.
And that’s on top of every single frame of every movie and TV show. Every panel of every comic.
That’s why Disney supports the efforts to clamp down on AI for copyright reasons, because they own all the copyrights. They want that power in their hands. They do not want you to be able to use a cheap or free utility to compete with them. Along the way, they’ll burn the entire concept of fair use to the ground and snatch the right to copyright styles. Adobe has confessed this intention, straight to congress.
When the lawyers come, you won’t be accused of stealing from say, artist Stephen Silver. You’ll be accused of stealing the style of Disney’s Kim Possible™.
Possible upside? More original art that ACTUALLY LOOKS ORIGINAL.
Disclaimer: Altering laws to lock up styles would be an exceptionally bad thing but it’s also goddamn impossible to legally quantify a visual style, and more importantly, how to quantity how much variance the lock would cover.
Yeah, even as a joke that doesn’t work.
Being confronted with the vague and subjective nature of artistic style just means that a pack of lawyers needs only convince a judge who likely knows nothing about art to come down on how he feels about it, and the problem about style is the less you’re aware of the medium the more similar styles are.
Or, what’s worse, is they’re just run the work through some form of Clip Interrogator, see what style and pop culture references pop up, and hit you from there. Because you won’t even have to get sued!
It would be sinfully easy for them to just make copyright content bots under the DCMA and take your revenue unless you can get lawyer to counter sue, just like on youtube.
The music industry, thanks to the 90s and the RIAA, is much more vicious about fair use than most mediums, having pretty much eliminated the concept as it comes to music. While this has benefited the family of Marvin Gaye greatly, it has been a serious blow to small artists of every stripe.
Ever wonder why Beyonce has piles writers on every track? Its because she’s a massive superstar that can afford to pay the royalties for sample use in ways that in any other industry would be classified as fair use.
And while I’m sure the record labels for all those artists are loving the money, but the functional result is that only a millionaire has access to that kind of sampling without fear of lawsuit. Only a millionaire can afford to record a cover of their father’s favorite song from his childhood.
Because if you even make a reference in your lyrics to a classic song, like Hootie and the Blowfish did with “Only Gonna Be With You”, and Siouxsie and the Banshees got did with “Peek-a-Boo”, some creep is going to come sue you.
Explanation: Hootie quotes a few lines from a Dylan song as part of the lyrics, it is a literal, attributed quote, in the lyrics:
Put on a little Dylan sitting on a fence I say that line is great, you ask me what it meant by Said, I shot a man named Gray, took his wife to Italy She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me I can’t help it if I’m lucky I only wanna be with you Ain’t Bobby so cool? I only wanna be with you
The highlighted part is a quote from “Idiot Wind”. In any other medium, this would be fair use, but the lawyers got their claws extra deep in music. So Dylan threatened to sue a literal fan, who put an attributed quote from a literally twenty-year-old song, and followed it up with the line “Ain’t Bobby so cool?”, and took $350,000 for it.
Meanwhile Peek-A-Boo…
Used the line “Golly jeepers/Where’d you get those weepers?/Peepshow, creepshow/Where did you get those eyes” which is both not the same lyrics as “Jeepers Creepers” (a song from fucking 1938) and a clear and obvious parody of them, but that was enough for a threatened lawsuit and Harry Warren and Johnny Mercer to get unearned writing credits.
The system isn’t just broken, it is sick. You can be factually right but the side with the money and the lawyers will win.
How many here have the kind of resources Darius Rucker had at the height of Only Wanna Be With you?
A society where only the rich can produce work inspired by the things they loved as children, much less one where things their great-grandparents parents loved as children, is fundamentally broken in a way that you’d normally only hear about in kids movies.
And again, this isn’t really about AI. The anti-AI hysteria is a copyright grab and regulatory capture scheme from the Disneys, RIAA’s, Nintendos and Adobe to expand their control of the entertainment and art industries and control who gets to come up and who has to stay down.
There is nothing you can create that they won’t be able to connect back to the things they ‘own’.
Remember, the “fair use for me not for thee” crowd lead by Mr. “I got my career fair use-ing Nintendo’s IP” is bankrolled by the Copyright Alliance.

The EFF article and the one linked at the beginning of it are EXCELLENT and level-headed discussions that help shed light on the legal and moral issues surrounding AI art and writing.
What Would it Mean for Art if the Court Finds that Stable Diffusion Infringes Copyright? The theory of the class-action suit is extremely dangerous for artists. If the plaintiffs convince the court that you’ve created a derivative work if you incorporate any aspect of someone else’s art in your own work, even if the end result isn’t substantially similar, then something as common as copying the way your favorite artist draws eyes could put you in legal jeopardy.
From the other article:
This would result in the worst of all worlds: the companies that today have cornered the market for creative labor could use AI models to replace their workers, while the individuals who rarely—or never—have cause to commission a creative work would be barred from using AI tools to express themselves.
This would let the handful of firms that pay creative workers for illustration—like the duopoly that controls nearly all comic book creation, or the monopoly that controls the majority of role-playing games—require illustrators to sign away their model-training rights, and replace their paid illustrators with models. Giant corporations wouldn’t have to pay creators—and the GM at your weekly gaming session couldn’t use an AI model to make a visual aid for a key encounter, nor could a kid make their own comic book using text prompts.
What these corporations want to do is to control how AI is used. Just like you. They are infinitely more powerful. They want to use it to control how you use YOUR HUMAN TALENT. They do not care about you. They care about a machine that can make them money, and if it has the side effect of suppressing the artistic expression of others, that’s good for them too.
These articles discuss ways to ACTUALLY CURB THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF WIDESPREAD USE OF GENERATED IMAGERY AND WRITING ON THE ARTS.
If that is what you want, YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE LEGAL ISSUES AT HAND and not laugh at how you are fighting alongside Disney or Adobe. They are the WORST malicious actors in the legal field of copyright. If you are on Disney’s side you are on the wrong side.
And im sure it’s a coincidence that disney is pressing hard on this with the renewed unionization efforts
It’s a decent point, but it doesn’t really apply here, check the dates on the article.
Last week if you told me you had “Trump accuses Kamala Harris of racefaking in front of an audience of black journalists” on your bingo card, I would’ve chastised you for an incredibly poor-taste joke, but apparently you can mark that square today
So, something to understand is that he does not listen to his advisors or follow the strategy they set out for him, almost ever. His campaign strategists and advisors have been pretty staunchly pushing the GOP and the public-facing side of the campaign to avoid attacks on the basis of race or gender, because it loses them poll numbers and gains her support. This hasn’t stopped him, or any of the other Republicans, they just can’t help themselves, but his advisors are practically begging him to cut this shit out. The other important thing to understand about this event is that the appearance was cut short because his own campaign requested they end it, that’s how bad a job he did following his advisors’ strategy

shoutout to the woman from my high school martial arts class who liked to get me in joint locks and then joke about how I was easy to catch. you cannot comprehend how psychosexually formative that was for me
imagine, if you will, having an adolescent half-crush on someone way older than you, which is also confusingly blurred up with admiration of them as a role model. now imagine that you and that person are in a social environment where it is acceptable to (platonically, consensually) choke someone. I think I was very normal about it considering the circumstances
she would demonstrate takedowns on her husband (also in the class, and who was not a small man) before we got to try them and the first time I saw her twist him around and down onto the floor like it was easy my entire abdomen clenched
I cannot stress enough how eager this guy was to be manhandled (womanhandled?) and flipped around by his wife. he was her de facto guinea pig whenever she got to teach and I never saw him unenthusiastic about it. he’d set himself up for a joint lock fully smiling. the other adults in the class occasionally teased him about it (being so quick to let your wife put you in a submission hold tends to raise a few eyebrows), and I always kind of wanted to defend him but what would I have said? like, don’t worry. I won’t judge you. I also like being pinned down by your wife
That last sentance really hits ya like a psychosexually formative takedown
psychiatrists: You can’t stop this medication cold turkey. You need to stay on your meds no matter what. If you don’t stay on your meds I won’t treat you as my patient anymore
psychiatrists when you need your meds refilled: yeah I can do that in about 10 business days. oh you need it right now? or you’re going to end up hospitalized? meh I don’t care. good luck idiot
That sound you hear is thousands of wangsting sexist fanboys shrieking in horror.
Suck it.
It’s also important to remember that the stereotype was perpetuated by media they watched growing up (at least in the 80s/90s.)
I mean not to say they aren’t responsible for unlearning behavior, but like a whole generation of little boy needs grew up being told that pretty girls would mock them for the things they loved, and then didn’t know how to handle the cognitive dissonance when they saw pretty girls liking those things.
Again, not to say it as an excuse, but like maybe armed with that knowledge, we can push them to unlearning that a bit more than outright condemnation?
I’m sure the death (or at least reduction) of the bullied nerd trope is already helping the next generations.
i love how whenever something gets popular the underground tormented avant garde bloggers start becoming self conscious of liking it/finding it funny, and it eventually evolves into aggression towards it. doesnt matter what it is. unrelated but i saw someone call isopods cringe today
We laugh at environmental media from the 80s like the villains in captain planet, but we forget that the people making that shit literally would have lived through such terrible air quality
@overcaffienated-aro well said!
Literally every 80’s movie daytime establishing shot filmed in Los Angeles looks slightly sepia toned because the smog put a piss filter on the sunlight.
My least favorite things about anti- UBI discourse is always the techbros whining that “nobody is going to work anymore! People will just watch Netflix all day!” and I have 2 responses:
1) Who the fuck cares. Who the fuck cares what people do with their time! That’s kind of the fucking point!
2) People aren’t going to stop laboring. Housework (look, it’s right there in the word!) will still need to be done. So will maintenance on our homes and personal spaces. Children will still need carers, as will the elderly and disabled. There are millions of examples of ~work~ that we do all the time, uncompensated, that won’t suddenly stop because we aren’t forced to sell our labor to provide corporation’s profits.
I’m not surprised that what is traditionally women’s work is invisible to these dipshits, but it never fails to anger me.
Anyway. Join the IWW.
Field studies have been conducted in several countries now, and the result is always the same - people will just flop about for a couple of months to recover from the burnout most people who have a job live with, and then they look for something to do. Some get a job with reduced hours, and some start doing charitable stuff like volunteering in soup kitchens and teaching others to do whatever their particular skill is. They socialize more, they are happier, and on average, people will work more, not less.
But the thing is, employers suddenly have to think about how to make their jobs appealing enough for someone to come and do them! It’s hard to find someone to work for you for long hours under horrible conditions, if they can just choose not to; which shows you how voluntary our current system actually is.
Results do include people dropping the paying work to focus on their education, people dropping the paying work to focus on their children (especially if they’re very young children), and people dropping the paying work to focus on their health. These are also desirable results!
OMG I would do SO much more if I didn’t have to hustle all the fucking time!
man this sucks, being trans should have been an anthropological curiosity, not a political movement, it should have been a quirk of humanity, not a fight for survival, it should have been like being colorblind, or having six fingers, it should have been something science teachers taught their students excitedly because it was this interesting bit of trivia, it should have been no more exciting than being a furry or being born with edietic memory. it should have been this little vibrant community whose only care in the world was to share tips about how to customize your presentation it should have been an off hand remark while hanging at a bar to the tune of “hey, isnt joan of accounting trans? crazy stuff my cousin tom changed too and now is nora”
i look back at all those old news papers from like the 30′s and 40′s and the way they seemed to talk about the subject and is like fuck, how can we get that back
my friends held an intervention for me to “stop asking intimidately specific questions”. i tried to explain that i am just a good listener but there is apparently “a line between follow-up questions during small talk and interrogation tactics that gets crossed sometimes”. turns out my curious nature is “scaring the hoes”
when i asked for examples i was told that “do you think your tendency to show appreciation through restoration is part of a greater life philosophy or is that coincidental?” and “is your communication with allied forces satellite or radar based and is it vurnerable to cyber attacks?” are apparently “inappropriate questions to ask someone you just met at a club”. but i disagree. as if you wouldn’t be a little bit curious about the answer? yeah that’s what i thought
[ID: question by anonymous: did they answer the question though ///end ID]
the navy officer i asked about cyber attacks did answer my question very thoroughly. he also answered other questions such as “when refueling on sea, which boat is the primary course holder?” and “would switching to another government branch affect your retirement benefits?” and generally provided a lot of information over the course of a fascinating hour that as a former government employee myself i am pretty sure he should not have told me. but i also think he would have told me his social security number if i asked nicely (i didn’t, I was busy learning about the tactical advantages of speedboats).
the guy obsessed with boat refurbishment that i asked about his tendency towards preservation gave me a really haunted look, said “holy fuck” and then after a moment of consideration “i think i am too drunk. i’m going home” and proceeded to leave. in my defense, it was well and truly meant as genuine curiosity and not as the attempt at psychological warfare it turned out to be. he unfortunately did not answer my question.
…he was also the catalyst for the intervention i received.
So these are both “Aw Fuck I’m outta real food” meals BUT ALSO: if you’re learning how to cook, these are great “baby steps” meals to learn how to cook basics into something enjoyable without “wasting” anything expensive. Though I maintain that even cooking screw-ups are valuable in terms of lessons learned.
Also they’re great for when you get absorbed in something and you realize your blood sugar is dropping and you need to make something Quick.
Making basic storecupboard or fridge ingredients less basic and more nutritious.
why aren’t there more mysteries that take place in nursing homes & retirement communities. i want to watch a group of deranged retirees-cum-amateur-detectives combine their powers of:
decades of life experience
boredom-fueled busybody shamelessness
access to the most gossipy next-door-neighbors in existence
“I am too old to be arrested and/or give a shit” attitude
and solve crimes. this should be an enormous subgenre.
Brindlewood Bayis a roleplaying game about a group of elderly women—members of the local Murder Mavens mystery book club—who frequently find themselves investigating (and solving!) real-life murder mysteries.
Honestly one of my favourite mystery mechanics is in this game - the Theorize move, which allows the players to come up with the answer to the mystery and then roll to see how correct they are!
Obachan Panic is a quick, easy-to-teach, easy-to-learn ttrpg about grannies and aunties saving the world. They saved your home and country countless times from alien invasions, government conspiracies, untold monsters, the singularity, economic collapse and deflated soufflés—AND made it home in time to make you that casserole you like.
This game comes with playbooks that you can print, cut out and paste together - a little arts-and-crafts scrapbooking session to go along with your storytelling game! It even comes with art for your characters!
Gold & Girl is a game about retirees, divorcees and widows all rooming together in their sunset years. Deal with problems like Nosy Neighbours, Rising Rent, and Thin Walls - using only two stats! Mysteries should be no problem with this game, just give your Girls something to be nosy about!
Grandmothership, by Armanda, is currently in development but it’s a sci-fi setting about old ladies figuring out why the lights keep going out, why the robots are acting up, and what is going on with recent random disappearances. It’s inspired by Brindlewood Bay, Honey Heist, and Mothership.
I love that the power of elderly women solving mysteries continues into the far future! The feeling of this game is that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself, which very much is the way elderly women might think. You can check out the link for the preview!
i got the PERFECT show for you op
After a failed robbery, a gang of 3 noble thieves: Zuza, Kinga and Alicja hides in a quiet nursing home. While the police are on their heels, the gang continues their activities at the center, giving its elderly residents a second youth.
There’s another show that I think is close (didn’t actually watch it) it’s called like “murders in the building” and it’s a murder mystery with two old dudes and their younger friend.
I guess the thing about Godzilla is that it represents a massive national trauma which eviscerated nature and the human soul, but the USA versions fall somewhere on the spectrum between “vaguely about 9/11 or recent natural disaster” and “giant monster smashy smash.” I think that stems from trying to conceptualize Godzilla as representing a particular and isolated instance of disaster and translate that into something of a similar nature in the USA.
But the real deep down soul death and national trauma in the USA isn’t anything recent, you can’t point out something uniquely bad like an atomic bomb. Really the kaiju for the USA needs to be symbolic of how this whole place is an infinite recursive system of devouring its population, starting from colonization and going right up through to the present day. The crucial difference is that if a kaiju was to represent the deep, unhealed, and still bleeding scar at the heart of the nation, it has to by definition be some ancient dead thing which rises on the anguish of everyone consumed in the name of this country and burns it into the ground. There’s not an easy way to make a USAmerican kaiju because the only way to do so accurately means the kaiju has to be the protagonist, and ultimately has to show how much the people in the USA are unified when the hyperwealthy and our government are destroyed.
Who is gonna make that?
who else?
You get it.
I’ll let Mr. del Toro make the movie. I’ve already got something monstrous cooking in one of the labs so I can make it real; you know, so it’ll really drive home the metaphor after it starts eating folks.
