That’s what it looks like. That’s really what it looks like
Being out in the ocean is actually so scary because when you look really far out you can kind of see how the Earth is rounded out. It looks like a few miles ahead you’re just gonna fall off or something.
Also fun trick: if ur on mobile, double tap zoom in and slide the picture side to side. It looks like you’re actually there looking left to right

As someone who lives in a country that faced a 20 years dictatorship ~courtesy of the USA~ when someone threatens dictatorship you best believe them.
And if you don’t know what that means, in general lines: you won’t be able to vote, you won’t to be able to exercise the right of free speech especially when it comes to the government, music, art and literature may be banned especially when they are critical towards the government, people may be exiled or killed and they will make it look like suicide or an accident or straight up own up to it.
So do yourself a favor and vote. Brazil has dealt with multiple dictatorships (one of which was military) and I can guarantee you don’t want to know what that’s like.
believe everything you see unless you disagree with it; in that case, misinterpret it in a way that no logical person could have predicted and accuse the op of being a fascist. this applies double to children’s cartoons. good luck 💖✨
currently obsessed with british murder mystery tv shows where all the murders happen in the same town in every episode and everyone’s just like oh yep there goes another one, just another day in shirefordtonstead
i hate these motherfuckers so much. our sewer system used to be infested with them. they;d crawl out of my fucking toilet at night looking for warmth, standing up from the bowl waving their shitass little arms at me. they don’t have eyes but you can feel them staring back at you, asking for hugs or god knows what with that pathetic whine that permeates their entire way of existence. uppies! uppies! i’m not giving you uppies you wet toilet freak
This image was so visceral I had to draw it.
To clarify, these are called olms and it’s impossible for them to be in toilets but it’s still quite vivid isn’t it?
i had a dream i was doing stand-up comedy at an open mic and i said “you know i’m something of a skeletal system myself” and it cut to someone in the audience who was like “dead ass?” and it cuts back to me and its just a skeleton’s pelvis and i woke up with the most sweatiest cold sweat and disoriented

Corn-gratulations! Your post has enough letters to spell CORN 2 times!
I keep meeting artists who complain that Tumblr Is Dead then when I check their blog they’ve made four posts in six months and all of them were self promo lmao. Influencers whining that “tumblr is useless for engagement” tells me every part of the problem, like sorry you can’t just show up and farm this userbase for clicks by waving buzzwords around the way you can on tiktok. This is the Excited About Stupid Things website reblog some shitty fanart or die
what do you MEAN people don’t want to hang out in your curated space and chat with you and look at your work when your space is uhhh entirely crossposting shop links from instagram. you look like a fucking bot lmao
Waaaay back in 2012 I was confused about how Tumblr worked - I had created a personal blog so I wanted to showcase personal stuff, like the silly little comics I was making at the time. So i posted my comics and followed a lot of people and scrolled through my dash and liked things but didn’t reblog stuff because I wanted my blog to be kind of a portfolio.
And it was really boring, and I didn’t get any attention for my drawings, and having a tumblr felt kind of useless, except now I could see all the memes I’d been laughing at on imgur in context.
But then there was a comic that was cute and funny and it was about Dune (because there are active dune fans on tumblr!) So I reblogged it because nobody was looking at my blog anyway and the floodgates opened. I started reblogging regularly and adding comments and occasionally adding little comics or sketches on the comments and suddenly tumblr made sense. It was “working,” because *yes* tumblr is a blogging platform, but more than that it is a social media site, and to get it to “work” you had to be social.
And that ended up getting me a job as a cartoonist. And it ended up letting me promote my band better than any other site (and thank you so much to the tumblr users who came to our shows!). And it let me build an audience of thousands of readers for my webcomic. And it is a place where I can share my art and get attention for it and promote stuff I’ve got on sale, and a place where i can link people to my website (because tumblr is still bad as a portfolio, even if it’s good as socal media). But that only works because tumblr isn’t just someplace I post, it’s someplace where i hang out and people know me and we have history and a shared language of memes and shitposts.
I’ve had people ask how i get tumblr to work for me and the answer is, unfortunately, it only works if you live here.
i think that tumblr should let you annotate your posts like Genius does with song lyrics to help dissuade people who are always looking for statements to take in bad faith so they can start an argument for no good reason.
“Trans girls, try not to shave your face every day! Razors can leave behind micro cuts that will scar and get worse if not given time to heal.” ^ In this section, Scout gives advice based on research and personal experience about how sometimes people will forego their own health and wellness in striving towards an aesthetic goal, potentially unknowingly. It can be surmised by looking at Scout’s posting history that she is pro-trans-safety, so it is unlikely that this is a reckless attempt to trick trans women into getting murdered by means of a hypothetical belligerent transphobe who would see someone wearing makeup with a 5 o’ clock shadow and fly into a killing rage. If a trans woman were in an environment where that situation may be arise, and she lives in such a way where she must necessarily enter into that environment every day, we can extrapolate that Scout likely wouldn’t expect her to follow this advice.
just so you know, you have some followers who enjoy/write fanfiction. not saying their urls rn bc i don’t wanna air out dirty laundry in public but if you want them so you can block and report, just say the word and i’ll dm you a list
Reblog if you’re self indulgent and perverted lmao
fellas is it perverted to think happy thoughts
“the person doing it is doing so just because it makes them feel good” that tends to be the reason why most people do most things in their free time yeah
They really were. Lots of them gave medical and hygienic advice, many others suggested fun athletic or craft hobbies you could pick up. My favorite one, though, is this one about libraries:

Trying to sell handmade crafts in this economy is so. Like. Hey guys I know we’re all broke as fuck but do you want my silly little things. I’m very good at it. For the time it takes to make them + skill + materials it’s gonna be 30$ per silly little thing. But also shipping costs 12$ for reasons outside my control so it’s actually 42$ now. Sorry. No I really can’t charge less than that. Yeah I know. Ok. Bye
And this is for my things that are silly and little. I’m not even one of those people making, like, quilts and blankets and shit. Can we pour one out for the fiber artists making quilts and blankets and shit
I’m presenting a tiny crocheted bird to you. Putting it into the palm of your hand. This can be yours. For what seems like too much money but I promise it isn’t. We’ve all just really lost sight of fiber arts’ value with industrialization and outsourced sweatshop labor etc. This is actually the minimum I could ask for without fucking myself. I don’t like what this implies about mass produced items either. It’s really horrific. You can get an ethically sourced 42$ tiny crocheted bird though
Shortly after posting this I received an order for nearly 200$ worth of tiny crocheted birds this is the good luck post for people actually paying for your handmade crafts
Roses are red, that much is true, but violets are purple, not fucking blue.
I have been waiting for this post all my life.
They are indeed purple, But one thing you’ve missed: The concept of “purple” Didn’t always exist.
Some cultures lack names For a color, you see. Hence good old Homer And his “wine-dark sea.”
A usage so quaint, A phrasing so old, For verses of romance Is sheer fucking gold.
So roses are red. Violets once were called blue. I’m hugely pedantic But what else is new?
My friend you’re not wrong
About Homer’s wine-ey sea!
Colours are a matter
Of cultural contingency;
Words are in flux
And meanings they drift
But the word purple
You’ve given short shrift.
The concept of purple,
My friends, is old
And refers to a pigment
once precious as gold.
By crushing up molluscs
From the wine-dark sea
You make a dye:
Imperial decree
Meant that in Rome,
to wear purpura was a privilege reserved
For only the emperor!
The word ‘purple’,
for clothes so fancy,
Entered English
By the ninth century
.
Why then are voilets
Not purple in song?
The dye from this mollusc,
known for so long
Is almost magenta;
More red than blue.
The concept of purple
is old, and yet new.
The dye is red,
So this might be true:
Roses are purple
And violets are blue
.
While this song makes me merry, Tyrian purple dyes many a hue From magenta to berry And a true purple too.
But fun as it is to watch this poetic race The answer is staring you right in the face: Roses are red and violets are blue Because nothing fucking rhymes with purple.

Hello, I’m Ola, a graduate student from the faculty of science - Al-Azhar University in Gaza Palestine. I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. As you reading my message, myself and my family, “my mother, father, three sisters, and my little brother,” are fighting death in northern Gaza and trying to survive under all kinds of suffering including but not limited to destruction, fear, and instability, starvation, thirst, and poverty.
For nine months until now, we have been struggling to get proper food after prices increased by 15 to 20 times, struggling to have clean water for use and drinking. We lacked security and stability as we were forced to evacuate our house and left everything behind. Then we had to move at least three times since every new area we seek refuge to gets bombed.
I sincerely hope you can empathize with our dire situation and consider supporting us. You can follow me to make sure I am not a scammer and to inquire about any details. Your generosity has the power to make a significant difference.
Please reblog my post, follow me and boost my posts, and repost the link to our campaign across all your social media.
artists being radicalized against incredibly beneficial technology like analytical ai simply because it has “ai” in the title will have no terrible ramifications I’m sure
lotta people seem to think the issue with the salem witch trials was that witchcraft is bullshit and not that mob justice is unreliable, inhumane, and fosters widespread paranoia and compulsion rather than protecting literally anyone from harm

seeing people say “sometimes i wish i was a guy but i still want to be a girl too” or vice versa and it’s like YOU CAN!!! YOU CAN DO THAT!!!! TAKE MY HAND
i accidentally cracked a bunch of eggs with this post
You guys … No. If the only thing I ever teach you is that lichens, moss, and algae are not hurting trees, then this entire endeavor will have been worth it. Who out there is looking at a fucking tree, seeing something growing on it, and stewing over it? I am imagining some man noticing a tree trunk for the first time in his godforsaken life and thinking “hmmm … That can’t be right.” Like not looking at a single other tree trunk, just worriedly turning it over in his head. Lying in bed, trying to fall asleep, can’t stop thinking about that weird fuzzy stuff they saw on a tree earlier. Then he googles and sees this and can finally relax. The world is right again. Maybe next time he is out he looks at another tree and *gasp* there it is again! And suddenly it’s everywhere: moss in the cracks of the sidewalk, lichen on the telephone poles, a slime of green algae on the subway wall. Suddenly the world is alive, and he no longer has to worry.
They are just hanging out :)
Here’s a a little sapling I photographed with the thickest plushest moss coat. it’s his puffy winter jacket
He moss too thick for he gotdam he
He moss to big for he gotdam he
I just spend the night at the botany open house showing people the herbarium, and how mosses open up their leaves when you put a drop of water on them. I needed to make a little guy, for science.
OHHHHH MY GOD 💚💚💚
Just a reminder that there are whole sections of the world (including the US) where it is too dry for any of these and the only time you’d have seen them is in fantasy art or science class books. Most moss you can find in the US southwest is at Michaels.
My friend, that’s just not true. And that’s kinda the point that I am getting at with this post. It is so easy to miss the lichens (and moss) around us simply because 1) we don’t know what we’re looking at, and 2) they are so common that they sorta just fade into the background. Now certainly if you go outside looking for fluffy green stuff you won’t see tons of that, but there are tons of lichens and mosses adapted to hot dry environments–hell lichens tend to dominate compared to plants in those extreme environments! May I direct your attention to the not 1, not 2, but 3 volumes of The Lichen Flora of the Greater Sonoran Desert Region?
I highly recommend going on a lichen hunt–getting up close and personal with your local rocks, trees, bushes, walls, cacti, what have you–and familiarizing yourself with your tiny symbiotic neighbors. I can almost guarantee that you will be amazed at what you find!
Also fun fact: the moss they sell at craft stores is often spray painted lichen. It desiccates and holds its shape better long-term than moss.
“I know basic gun safety isn’t a threat to my rights. It’s about keeping our kids safe,” Walz said last month about his evolution on the issue. “I had an ‘A’ rating from the NRA. Now I get straight ‘F’s.’ And I sleep just fine.”
He was beloved by the NRA. When Parkland happened, his daughter was 17. She asked him to do more. I guess he doesn’t do shit by half because not only reformed gun control, he donated all the money the NRA ever gave him to charity, and now has straight Fs. In 2016 he was a ‘top 20 politician for guns’ He turned it that fast.
I know this is the website of catholic guilt structures, but the idea of a politician that changes their mind, doesn’t pretend it was different before, admits he was wrong, and then gets shit done? I adore that.
I did not expect him, so I have not done my learning yet, this was one of the first things I saw. And Damn.
