there is a certain style of parenting that is very logistics focused, in which any conversation with the parent tends to revolve around whether the child has eaten, whether they are sick, whether they need a lift to get somewhere, etc. and these are all very important matters in life (even when the children are adults themselves) but they don’t address anything higher up the hierarchy of needs, like self-actualisation, or understanding who the child actually is as an independent person with their own interior life and emotions, hopes and fears, all the gooey stuff like that.

What I want to say is that the situation has worsened in all respects, the unacceptable crowding, where more than half a million people have been displaced from Rafah and are still displaced until the moment. This compounds the tragedy by increasing the accumulation of garbage and the incredible spread of diseases, insects and mosquitoes.
Now there have been many things, as the closure of the Rafah crossing prevented the transit of aid trucks, goods and gas, and therefore the lack of basic food, neither meat, no poultry, no eggs, no fruits, nor vegetables. Our main dependence now on canned peas, beans, beans and chickpeas, and don’t forget, I cook on fire because of the lack of gas (the beginning of the famine). Even vitamins are not available in pharmacies, whether for children or adults. And no one feels about us or cares what is happening. We don’t sleep from the sounds of bombing and cannons and children are always afraid of this horror. We can’t go back to our destroyed homes, we can’t go out and travel in search of safety because the crossing is alone in Gaza, or the expression is occupied by the army. If you were doing that work, you would know that working with other people to achieve a goal sometimes requires compromising, even on issues that are important to you, but that getting things done, even incrementally, is worth that compromise.
If you were doing that work, you would have the experience of making things happen in the real world–gardens planted, children fed, houses built–and you would know that getting your hands dirty working is so, so much more satisfying than sitting alone and keeping them clean.
