Me upon discovering an online game that helps you learn git: haha I’ve been using git for years now, I could skip ahead many levels, methinks hahaha no, no, I’ll be humble and start on level 1
Me on level 5: You can do what??? There are commands for what???
If nothing else, as a historian every time I get scared at the state of the world I have to remind myself that “uninteresting times” is a myth.
The world has always been in the throes of chaos and violence and fear, just in different ways and to different degrees. The anxieties of the past are no less real than our own, and we can learn from them. Normality and peace are fleeting, but we can always strive to increase those moments. We have to keep hoping and working for a better future. It’s all we have. We may not succeed, but if we don’t try, what are we living for?
I was actually just up in Ohio for the solar eclipse, and did you know, I’d never seen Spring before?
I thought I had, because down here in Florida we do get some flowers and nice green leaves as the weather shifts from cool to hot, but the trees are never bare and the flowers just blend in with the rest of the trees and in comparison this Actual Spring was some sort of magical wonderland, I swear to god, I’ve never seen anything like it
Apple blossoms???? are so pretty???????? the subtle changes of the colors, and they take up the whole tree and they’re so damn beautiful????????????????? I had never seen them before, we don’t have any apple trees down here at all, but now they might be my favorite flower
I’m familiar with cherry blossoms- we do have some cherry trees- but not like this. This tree was entirely pink and stood out so much! No leaves or anything on the trees, just flowers everywhere!!! I see why people like spring and cherry blossoms so much, I think.
And idek what these are but LOOK at that!!!!!!! Life and color!!!! Spring!!!!
So yeah. I went to Ohio and I thought it was beautiful and i wanted to share that with you. Your state is wonderful!!!

A lot of rumors are about to fly about this rally. Trump’s team is 100% going to try and take advantage of this situation. So will malicious foreign actors/bots/etc.

Breaking News Consumer’s Handbook
In the immediate aftermath, news outlets will get it wrong.
2. Don’t trust anonymous sources.
3. Don’t trust stories that cite another news outlet as the source of the information.
4. There’s almost never a second shooter.
5. Pay attention to the language the media uses.
“We are getting reports”…could mean anything.
“We are seeking confirmation”…means they don’t have it.
“[News outlet] has learned”…means it has a scoop or is going out on a limb.
6. Look for news outlets close to the incident.
7. Compare multiple sources.
8. Big news brings out the fakers. And photoshoppers.
9. Beware reflexive retweeting. Some of this is on you.
israel tries to hide its military failures and losses by murdering children and civilians in their tents so they can have a *number of casualties* to report with and pretend they did something.

If this is true for you, you grew up in the greatest period of tech literacy. Which is awesome! Schools literally stopped teaching children the basics because there was a 10 year period where students did better than teachers, so it was a great spot to cut spending. Now, we have teachers who assume kids know technology, students who don’t have exposure to anything except their phones (Chromebooks are big phones from a software perspective, so a lot of free laptop programs double down on the problem), and a world of technology that they haven’t been exposed to.
Be the change, not the smug guy in the back saying “back in my day”.
We need to stop engineering blatantly stupid materials
“Hey guys if we make fairy floss out of glass it has all these cool insulating properties. Also we can layer it to make strong waterproof panels for building boats.” Counterpoint you’ve made fairy floss out of glass can we think for five minutes here.

something ive noticed after being a hobby cosplayer for years is that in a lot of places the general consensus seems to be that wearing costumes in public is weird and/or socially unacceptable, but whenever I’m in costume in public while on the train to the con venue or having a photoshoot on location or something, people by and large fucking love my costume. they think it’s so cool. kids think my costume rocks. their parents are impressed that I made it myself. random grandmas tell me my armor kicks ass. I was at a japanese garden once and barely got around to doing the photoshoot me and my homies came there to do because swathes of visitors who had never heard the word cosplay before were lining up to take a picture with me.
it’s the same thing with adjacent hobbies like larp or reenactment or fursuiting, the general image of the hobby is that you’re weird nerds (and probably also sex perverts) for playing dressup despite not being a child but when you’re actually in costume the response from random normies is categorically positive. I inevitably get weird looks from the kind of people who think having a tattoo is an affront to god but they give me that look for just existing with blue hair and pronouns too and the people who actually talk to me always do because they wanted to tell me they love my costume. and the response that always gets me the most is when they say it looks fun but they would never dare to do the same. it’s such a shame. why did wearing a silly little costume have to become an act of bravery.
A couple of years ago, a bunch of Star Wars costumers went to a state park and met for a photo shoot. The organizer notified the park staff that we were coming only to take still pictures, no video, no commercial use items. We gathered together and lugged our stuff into a fairly low traffic location, set up a portable changing tent for those who needed it and got dressed.
Our scout troopers and Jedi and Sith posed against the rock crags and forests and in dappled sunlight. We got great pictures.
And every once in a while someone would come around the bend and find something TRULY unexpected.
Most people scrambled backwards or ducked behind the nearest tree, apparently thinking they’d stumbled into a film shoot of some kind. A few took pictures from a distance.
Once we explained, all of them were delighted. How strange. How wonderous. Two little boys took pictures with every single costumer, a woman sat on a rock and just watched, one guy called home to FaceTime his brother.
The world is mundane and predictable and painful sometimes. And breaks to that are magic. Little bursts of a world turned on its head. In the best way.
You’re not immune to being the bully btw. You’re not immune to being in the wrong
“But i’m-” there is no identity or state of being that makes you immune to hurting someone. You can be convinced that you are in the right for doing so. You can be convinced that you’re defending someone by doing so. You have always got to examine if you’re taking pleasure in hurting someone or if you’re actually doing something good.
[Image text: there’s actually no political label or identity that absolves you of doing harm.]
okay guys but in all seriousness the trump attempted assassination is going to rally the right like crazy. voter turnout will be going up. it is more crucial than ever that you SHOW UP AND VOTE IN THIS YEARS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
Yeah that isnt a joke, google Brazil’s 2018 election. The fascist guy got stabbed in the guts, survived, and proceeded to use this a platform and he won the election. He then fucked up our lives for the next four years.
Already seeing people say that Trump’s assassination attempt was staged. Remember: no evidence, no conspiracy.
Shooting hard. Takes a lot of consistent practice to be able to hit your targets. That’s why people regularly go to ranges- to keep in practice.
Smaller the target, harder the shot is. This is why one is trained to aim for center mass rather than the head, as center mass provides a much larger target. The farther you are from your target, the more you want to aim for center mass.
Shooting someone in the head would be difficult for the majority of people, especially anyone who is not trained and practiced. As we know, it is easy to miss and be off target.
If this were a ploy for political clout, “they” would want to shoot him in a non-lethal spot. Center mass and the head would be poor choices, as it is too easy to make a fatal shot even without meaning to. It is a HUGE risk.
As we know, his ear was grazed. Three problems: 1) the ear is an even smaller target to aim for than the head; 2) the aiming would need to be extremely precise to avoid shooting him in the head; and 3) the list of people capable of making such a shot INTENTIONALLY is pretty short.
So far, it is easier to believe this was the actions of a lone individual than it is to believe it is a conspiracy or something akin to it.
sorry but everyone else has the punchlines handled so I am going to be a broken record: do not let high emotions, low info, and narrative compulsion make you a soft target for conspiracy grifters. it does not help. it does not end well.
remember, even entertaining baseless hypotheticals out loud passes them on to your followers. get on the disease model of unevidenced conspiracy: mask up, do not be a vector.
Idk about this one boys, Cookie Monster always refers to Cookie Monster’s self as “Cookie Monster”.
no he doesn’t. he refers to himself as “me.” elmo’s the one that talks in third person. that’s the joke. elmo doesn’t use pronouns and cookie monster is blue. how dare you assume i made this post and didnt know my fucking sesame street history. christ
its been so long since the last time i post art, im gonna be really busy with university but i still want to draw cotl fanart (╥﹏╥)
here r some of the sketches and me ranting about some ideas and my cotl ocs
the bishops as followers were hard to design and i might redraw some of these ε-(´・`)
grumpy Nari and his sons ദ്ദി≽^•⩊•^≼
rough relationship with his ex-vessel ( •͈૦•͈ )
my ocs are based on the animals that can be found in Vietnam, their names also based on ingredients in traditional Asian medicines (cuz im suck at naming my ocs) (*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ)
Linh Chi is a chameleon
Cam Thảo is a Pseudoryx Nghetinhensis or Sao la
Kim Ngân is a carp
Atiso is a striped rabbit
i wanna make them siblings to parallel the bishops, they do fight sometimes but they still love each other (。•́︿•̀。)
long story short, the Lamb saved Atiso’s siblings so they vowed to forever be in debt to Lamb and would do whatever the Lamb asks them to (。o_o。)“”
Cam and Chi really likes to stick their noses in the affairs of the ex-gods ( • ᴗ - ) ✧
I would really love to draw some comics about them in the future, i have plenty ideas for cotl fanart too .·°՞(≧□≦)՞°·.
and if i made any spelling mistakes, please dont correct me because i have no respect for English ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

i feel like it’s absolutely crucial in the social justice world to take “he a little confused but he got the spirit” and similar sentiments/situations as a Win. intent is so much more important than saying it right the first time! if someone is approaching with scuffed language and incorrect terms but they’re visibly being as polite as they know how, that person is a friend and should be treated better than what their words might invite in someone else’s mouth.
