“noooo they’re limiting likes” likes have always been limited. Just like posts and side blogs and whatever else I can’t remember rn There has always been a limit and if u have never hit it then premium wouldn’t even be worth it
the thing is. when tumblr finally announces it is going to shut down because every attempt to make money in good faith was condemned and decried by popular users here, i suspect a lot of the Popular Big Reblog Reactions will be: “GOOD. THEY SHOULD. THEY DESERVE IT FOR [GRIEVANCES] GOOD RIDDANCE”
and. I’m not at all saying this is a perfect site. but also like. if you wish for the destruction of something around you because it’s the only way it will be ‘cleansed’ then. like. why are you hanging out there.
i’ve been on tumblr for almost decade and a half. i like it here. i’ll be sad when it’s gone. that does not mean i defend it’s every action!
but the response to any small feature that’s a little fun! for a couple bucks! it’s all just. so uncompromisingly reactionary. inflexibly dogmatic. it’s easier to tear something down than say 'it might be imperfect but it IS what’s present’. the rapture will come and the bad thing will get what it deserves. the revolution is here. and the sinners will be cleansed. and this little vestigial corner of the web where written word and creative fandom still thrives will be gone. forever.
sometimes liking a thing and wishing it were better is harder to swallow than righteous anger. and some people here would have you burn it all down rather than face the contradiction.
Here’s the thing about Tumblr Premium: The amount of posts, reblogs, and likes have literally always had daily limits.
… It’s just that people don’t typically notice this because it’s really hard to reach any of those limits in a day. I believe it’s 250 posts/reblogs, and 1,000 likes per day. Tumblr Premium would just be upping that to 500 posts/reblogs, and 2,000 likes per day. The issue is not that they’re suddenly limiting basic features - these limits have always been in place, saying otherwise is stupid. The issue is that who the fuck is actually posting + liking that much in a fucking day?? Who is that upgrade for????

Hello, there has been a lot of misunderstanding with the tumblr premium thing. People are under the impression that tumblr is restricting likes and posts . but im under the impression that premium simply allow to go beyond the daily posting limit (250) and the daily amount of likes someone can have (1000) can you please confirm ?
yes, Premium subscribers get double the normal limits. there are no new limits. these limits have been in place for over a decade. the vast, vast, vast majority of people don’t know there are limits because they’re never in danger of hitting them, but some people hit them every day, and now they can get higher limits.
the limits are documented across various help docs, our API documentation, and we tell you when you hit them. XKit Rewritten has a nice little limit checker, too, if you fly close to them frequently.
March 24, 2023, at 2:07 p.m. PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Walter C. Cole, better known as the iconic drag queen who performed for decades as Darcelle XV, has died of natural causes in Portland, Oregon.
Cry because she’s gone. But please also happy cry because she made it to 92. I am so glad, in a sense, to be mourning a queer elder who actually got to be an elder. This is a success story as told by an entire, whole, complete human lifetime. Rest in peace, Darcelle. I can’t imagine the struggles you have seen, the oppression you have overcome, and the life experience you’re taking with you to the other side. We love you. And we are so glad you made it to 92.
when i have a crush i dont kick my feet or twirl my hair instead i am in my kitchen at 3am pacing in circles with my hands clasped behind my back like a middle-aged divorced detective haunted by a cold case he just cant crack
No, a hummingbird’s heart will not stop if it stops moving. You’re possibly thinking of Spoink, which is a Pokemon that supposedly powers its heart by bouncing, and as such can’t stop moving. Hummingbirds don’t sit often because they’re busy looking for food, but they can and do sit. The females sit on eggs in nests, after all, and they do have to sleep.
I DONT WANT TO LEAVE THE SOUTH!!!! THIS IS MY HOME!!!
I want things to get better here instead of having to leave it behind to be safe!! I literally live in North Carolina i KNOW about the bathroom bills, i KNOW i PROMISE YOU.
Queer people who look down on the south and refuse to acknowledge that there are queer people here infuriate me. The south is not just Bigotry World tm! There are poc here!! There are trans people here! There are queer people and disabled people and tons of other people who deserve your love and support!
saw a poll about whether you prefer corruption or redemption arcs and i realized that for me it’s not really either, it’s a distillation arc: when a character becomes the most intense version of what they could be, everything inessential falling away or being discarded so that only the core remains.

You are never late to a fandom. Your fic is never “invalid” for being “late”. Your fic doesn’t need a high word limit. Your fic does not need a high standard. Your fic does not need to be highly popular. Your fic isn’t less valid than a popular author’s fic. Your fic isn’t inheritly bad. Your fic is amazing. Your fic is valid. The only thing that matters is that you’re having fun. Fandom is not consumption and consumerism. Fandom is fun, free and for the people. Fandom is not a popularity contest. We’re all nerds at the end of the day.
the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible
because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person
from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating
it’s fucked up.
What is the most important step a man can take?
The next.
I think part of the pushback about this is the idea that, to “redeem” bad people, their victims must first forgive them for unforgivable acts.
This is false. No one is obligated to forgive you. You can learn from your mistakes and become the best, kindest person on earth, and the
people you’ve hurt still won’t forgive you, and you’ll have to accept that. And that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to grow. Because we aren’t just “pure” or “sinful”, we’re complex.

My sister and I have the same birthday and it’s cool because people will be like, “Oh, are you twins?” And I get to say, “No! I ruined a five year old’s birthday.”
