Seeking a brave adventurer to fetch me one 5lbs bag of all purpose flour. Reward: A batch of fresh homemade snickerdoodles.

This could be the world we live in, but alas! You squander your time on this mortal plane! Imagine the baked goods we could have shared! Perhaps… in another life.

never forgive trigger for what they cut

marcille's hair is SO important to her. like. every couple of chapters we see her with a new hairstyle. she takes SUCH GOOD CARE OF HER HAIR, BECAUSE IT'S THAT IMPORTANT TO HER MAGIC. it's more than just her magic though; she's very deliberate about her appearance, going to great lengths to be clean, tidy, etc. she's a clean freak! ordinarily she would be really upset about being grimy and dirty like this; just look at her response to just a few chapters/episodes ago when she had to put on the frog suit. she HATED that.

but here, she's singularly determined; she doesn't have time to gripe about how she's covered in blood, sweat, and dragon viscera. she's doing this for falin, so it doesn't matter what lengths she needs to go to. and this panel spells it all out for you without any words. the gravity of this situation, that marcille is willing to go to any lengths for falin. her devotion is stronger than any fear she may have of being punished for her use of forbidden magic. THAT'S LOVE!!!ALT

started ranting abt this to a friend… i’m still so irritated that they didn’t include this

It also emphasizes how different this is from the magic we’ve seen from her before. Like, it was a major, albeit comedic, plot point that her water walking spell doesn’t even work if your hair is too dirty. She isn’t super particular about hygiene just because she likes to be clean, or thinks it’s icky otherwise, this is a serious practical concern that her magic doesn’t work as well without that purity. A difficult spell, requiring precision and with high stakes for failure, you would expect her to spend an hour beforehand fastidiously sterilizing everything involved like she’s about to do brain surgery.

But this isn’t that kind of spell. This spell is playing by an entirely different set of rules. This is magic that was created by, and for, people who are soaked in blood.

Putting this as a meme so maybe y'all will actually read it.

Held: Under our constitutional structure of separated powers, the nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts.

And this is why we cannot let Trump win another term: he now has complete immunity for any acts he “officially” performs as president. You thought he was bad before? Now he will have zero fear. He will do whatever he wants. And what he wants is outlined in Project 2025.

I’ve been trying to post a new post on my page for a while, but the internet, and otherwise very bad calls here in the place of our displacement after the Rafah operation.

⛔️Updating⛔️

What I want to say is that the situation has worsened in all respects, the unacceptable crowding, where more than half a million people have been displaced from Rafah and are still displaced until the moment. This compounds the tragedy by increasing the accumulation of garbage and the incredible spread of diseases, insects and mosquitoes.

Now there have been many things, as the closure of the Rafah crossing prevented the transit of aid trucks, goods and gas, and therefore the lack of basic food, neither meat, no poultry, no eggs, no fruits, nor vegetables. Our main dependence now on canned peas, beans, beans and chickpeas, and don’t forget, I cook on fire because of the lack of gas (the beginning of the famine). Even vitamins are not available in pharmacies, whether for children or adults. And no one feels about us or cares what is happening. We don’t sleep from the sounds of bombing and cannons and children are always afraid of this horror. We can’t go back to our destroyed homes, we can’t go out and travel in search of safety because the crossing is alone in Gaza, or the expression is occupied by the army. Please help us, please, you are our only hope now

I hope that my family and I can get out of these catastrophic situations to safety.

Every donation helps save us from this damn war.

YKNOW WHAT. I’ve been sitting on it too long. too many of yalls discussions of gender basically just admit you don’t actually see black men as men, or you don’t see them as people at all.

“Men don’t get punished for being masculine” unless they’re black

“Men don’t have to be afraid walking home alone at night” unless they’re black.

“Men don’t have to worry about the doctor not taking them seriously” unless they’re black.

“Men don’t have to worry about being assaulted and then ignored by the police/other authority figure” DO YOU EVEN HEAR YOURSELF

OP is very much right

And the same can be applied for disabled men

And older men (that need some type of care)

What will be worse if you are one of those two and black

!!!

you are literally so right. life for elderly and disabled men is terrible, especially if you’re also black. disabled black men are braver then any US Marine.

racists getting mad in the notes on this cute video I posted now lmao. the reason I posted it to begin with is because I was seeing too many posts about Palestine where people were talking about Palestinians as if they are a political problem to be solved and not human beings.

Of course when it comes to Palestinians who simply trying to enjoy moments of happiness they often get judged and disrespected for it!!!

anyways here’s the full song that they’re singing. it’s a traditional folk song sung by the beloved Palestinian singer-songwriter Rim Banna, known as the voice of Palestine. (Rest in peace). her music truly captured the spirit and resilience of Palestine. May her legacy continue to inspire and resonate with people around the world.

Plain: “There are only three colours! Red blue and yellow!”

Green: “…So aside from how primary colours don’t work like that, you know in additive colour space it’s red green and blue, right?”

And yes I’m not the first person to come up with this but “ The executive should have the power to kill anyone at any time for any reason but cannot create rules for particulate emissions” is pretty funny.

one could hypohtetically use the power of extrajudicial killing to duct tape together de facto rules for particulate emissions though

Saw someone point out the mundane policy abuses of this ruling really abound. Such as “I think there should be flat tax of 15%; therefore anybody who pays 15% and only 15% will get pardoned for any other tax offenses related to non-payment.”

The brain does not magically mature at 25. Actual neuroscientists note some 8-year-olds even have a greater “maturation index” than 25-year-olds. The myth misunderstands basic neuroscience but is still used for anti-trans policymaking like the Cass Report. https://slate.com/technology/2022/11/brain-development-25-year-old-mature-myth.html

I would really recommend that ppl read “The Mismeasure of Man” for a history of how shaky pseudoscience was often used to confirm social prejudices.

The 25 thing will be remembered alongside the “ape-like features of non-europeans”, “criminal stigmata”, the “missing ounces of the female brain” and the “average american’s mental age of 12” (that time IQ tests were misrepresented as a measure of general intelligence to prove it was impossible to educate the working class.. a patently silly claim now that many countries have near-universal literacy.)

It’s no coincidence that all this stuff is suddenly appearing at a time when younger ppl are kept from meeting typical milestones by a mix of helicopter parenting & a shitty economy

Neuroimaging is in its infancy. Just look at all those reports of “gender differences” that magically disappear with larger sample sizes.

i kind of wish the anti voting people wouldn’t dance around the idea of what happens after the election. Like okay, the democrats lose, you taught them a lesson (and fwiw, I do think its a legitimate message to send- the people are not happy with the actions and status quo of the DNC). Now What. Trump, the multiply indicted crime president who incited a violent mob upon the capitol, is now President. He has all the qualities you hate about Biden, AND more, except he and his administration have even less reason to be sensitive to the wishes of their democratic constituents. He is a puppet for the far right and white supremacists and christian nationalists. I really shouldn’t even have to go over this- we LIVED it already. Genuinely asking, is this what you want? Because frankly I do not think 4 more years of Trump is worth it over Biden. Your hands are not clean, this is the future you want to choose. I just don’t understand why.

“The revolution” is not an acceptable answer.

“the revolution” will outright kill people, the very ones doomers and accelerationists claim to be most concerned about. I shouldn’t even have to qualify statements with “I don’t like Biden”. It isn’t about liking it not liking him. It’s about the fucking nightmare things will become under Trump. It’s about surviving and working relentlessly and thanklessly for incremental change until larger change can be made, and a great many people invested in doing that work will either not survive or will be too burdened scrabbling to that they become unable to do that work. People need to fix their shit about this. In four years the fucking shitstain could be DEAD. Let’s buy ourselves those four years for Christ’s sake.

like i am sorry you are uncomfortable with the possibility of being complicit in the atrocities perpetrated by the global north. but guess what, you already are. it’s the privilege of being a citizen in The imperial center that allows you to pretend that your uwu good person pilatepilled abstention of civic duty is morally neutral. citizenship in a power is complicity in its policy, and the only way to ease our complicity as citizens is to act with every means available to us. that includes voting.

People in the replies talking about all of the work they are doing in their communities “instead” of voting– the restorative justice and the mutual aid and the land back and all of the other good, useful, and necessary work–

Why is this an instead? Why can you not do these things AND take a couple hours out of one day of your life to vote? Do you think any of this organization is going to be easier under Trump?

“I am doing these other kinds of activism instead of canvassing / phone banking / get out the vote” – that makes sense! You have a finite amount of time and energy! No one can do all of the work!

“I am doing these other kinds of activism instead of voting” – Uh-huh. And are these other kinds of activism in the room with us now? Or is your “activism” actually just “yelling on tumblr?”

If you were doing anything tangible in the world, it would be affected by the laws and policies you live under–the ones that will determine whether and what your kids eat at school; and what they learn there; and how your communities and protests are policed; and the conditions in the jails; and how likely you are to see the inside of one for sheltering undocumented people or providing abortion pills or DIY HRT.

If you were doing that work, you would know real people for whom a second Trump administration would mean deportation or forcible detransition or quitting college or going hungry, and you would need to be able to look them in the eye.

If you were doing that work, you would know that working with other people to achieve a goal sometimes requires compromising, even on issues that are important to you, but that getting things done, even incrementally, is worth that compromise.

If you were doing that work, you would have the experience of making things happen in the real world–gardens planted, children fed, houses built–and you would know that getting your hands dirty working is so, so much more satisfying than sitting alone and keeping them clean.

“I’m doing ~real important activism~ instead of voting–” Bullshit.

remember what voting is: a mock civil war

it’s a battle where both sides count up how many people want one thing or another, and then instead of murdering each other, they agree to count the larger side as the winner. this is an improvement

if you can’t be bothered to show up for a vote, why should anyone expect you to show up for the harder approach? if you just keep waiting until someone perfect shows up, you’ll be sitting on your ass for the rest of your life

i love how everyone on this website interacts with each other in ways that are so socially impermissible irl. how did we get here

like i know none of us call people we barely know “bestie” out loud. i know none of us say “i am kissing you on the mouth” in response to every mild compliment. but god i wish we did

(recent) tumblr exclusive linguistic phenomena:

  • bestie (said to someone you’ve never spoken to directly)
  • so false worstie
  • we are holding hands
  • i am kissing you on the mouth
  • you’re going in the soup
  • variations on “your dad looks gnc af” “YOURE INSANE”
  • mutuals (technically this exists on other social media but not in spirit)
  • [gunshots] (people say this on twitter but they say it wrong)
  • using periods incorrectly to. fine tune the cadence of a line
  • my beloved/my beloathed
  • hyperspecific day of the week holidays e.g. flat fuck friday
  • variations on gaslight gatekeep girlboss
  • and, of course, prev tags

I think my absolute favorite is “Thank you for the input, Tumblr user [[wildly inappropriate username]]”

You know what really fucking Annoys Me about internet censorship is stuff like swear words being heavily censored because that’s entirely an American cultural hangup being forced on the rest of us. I don’t know a single country where swearing is as taboo as it is in America. In fact most languages have swear words that would have the same effect on an American as giving a Victorian chimney sweep a pepsi max cherry.

Demonitizing Irish people’s videos for having swear words in them is a kind of hate crime and psychological torture I think.

a screenshot of a scene from SpongeBob Squarepants; the Krusty Krab is full of angry customers who are tossing Spongebob and Patrick into the air. through one of the windows, Zoidberg from Futurama is visible. he is smiling, like he is happy to be included.ALT

I like how polite he is because he isnt intruding but curious somewhat

He’s just there to rifle through the dumpster, as normal. Maybe today, a whole half a Krabby patty!
