One thing that isn’t being discussed about the White Pharaoh is where on Earth the image came from.

THE BACKGROUND AND COLORS ARE DIFFERENT. Noticeably so, too, the first one has more muted colors and a realistic background while the second is incredibly saturated with an obviously drawn background. This would make genuinely no sense to have two pieces of advertising for the game be so different if this was made for the slots game.
My proposed theory: white pharaoh is a piece of stock artwork / imagery, explaining the artistic differences between the two pictures.
But this can only be solved by either
A. Finding the origin of picture 1
B. Finding the source of the stock artwork
Those willing, please help my search.

Ok, according to Know Your Meme the slots thing came first in 2014, and the image that became the meme was an edit made in 2017.

The edit we all use was specifically created to look more like a historical reconstruction, and it was used as part of a bunch of memes that existed to satirise American History Textbooks and racist ideologies/memes (but because the internet is a godforsaken shithole of course it was also at times used to directly express those ideologies/be a part of those memes). All our funny “White Pharoh is forcing me to build pyramids in Idao” posting is just a modern take on a meme that started in 2017.
The weather’s getting warmer, so here’s my seasonal reminder for other folks who have issues staying hydrated (autistics, people on certain meds, people who hate water, whatever):
Jello is, in fact, mostly water. So are a lot of fruits, like melon, cucumber, and berries. Ice chips are also water. If you find it hard to drink enough day to day, try eating your water instead. Every little bit helps!

My partner and I cancelled our Adobe accounts today because of this. Imagine if makers of physical art media had the right to pilfer your sketchbooks because you used their pencils and paints. That’s basically what Adobe is trying to foist on everyone.
What I love about this is seeing that he’s clearly a hockey skater. Now, I don’t know shit about fuck when it comes to cold slippy antics, but what I notice is different between hockey skaters and nearly all other skaters is that hockey skaters essentially run on the ice. Any other skater is trying to glide, perform, or be otherwise smooth. Create a new type of mobility, but on ice. But hockey skaters? The floor is slippery but that’s why they’ve got knives on their feet, so it’s running time. Run run run run.
So this is like playing tag on ice, except the one guy you’re trying to get is magically not on ice. And I think that’s pretty neat.
He’s also making really good use of the stoppers on the front of his skates. You can clearly see several times that when he starts juking and running he’s not actually running with the wheels in contact with the ground – he’s tipped forward to run on the rubber stoppers, which will give him more traction on the slippery surface. He can change direction faster because none of his kinetic energy is going into countering the inertia of spinning wheels.
I don’t know if the picks on the front of ice skates are used similarly (because ice hockey is not so much of a national pastime in Australia) but I wouldn’t be surprised. But I spent a bit of time with a roller derby team, and I recognised that particular stopper run :)

I just want to add to this: the amount of fucking “THIS AI CAN GENERATE PORN IMAGES!!” ads I’ve gotten on Tumblr is ridiculous actually. To say nothing of all the mobile game ads involving sexually assaulting a woman.
So it’s not okay for us (especially trans women) to post even moderately sexual content. But they are as shit don’t mind using it to get money themselves!

Turns out it’s an anti-corruption being passed to impose penalties on government officials who commit perjury in parliament. Meaning this was done in a panicked violent attempt to prevent an anti-corruption law.
Haha. So funny. So quirk. Weird how that’s not widely circulated. Probably has nothing to do with how we want to avoid making Taiwan seem like the corrupt dysfunctional rump state it is because we need to make them look like a beacon of upright liberal rules-based democracy compared to EVIL mainland China. Naw. Nuuh. This is just a funny little event devoid of any context or meaning, haha, epic Taiwan reddit moment!

This isn’t about annoying tourists, if your country is in the G7 and/or its economy doesn’t collapse in itself during a short lockdown, shut up. This is about supermarkets price gouging everything because western tourists can afford it (but fuck the locals) and cops telling us to fuck off when we make complaints about rude or loud tourists that’d get locals fined, because tourists are especially privileged and God forbid they decide not to spend more money here. This is about the fact that some people can’t live because of tourism, but can’t live without it either, because everything depends on it, including people’s income. This is about countries where even people with “regular” jobs have to rent out their homes. This is about countries where home prices are rising to the point of becoming out of reach to locals because foreigners are buying property as vacation homes or to rent out.
So these tourists came to a city with a bunch of “tourists go home” “tourists not welcome” graffiti and instead of idk maybe looking into why locals want tourists gone they film the grafiti, post it on tiktok with a caption “wow i feel so welcome” and like comments like these
And then they’re suprised when locals tell them to fuck off
I’m pretty sure the the video was filmed in barcelona (not 100 % because i can’t find it atm) but there are countless people in the comments explaining to this person that locals literally cannot live in their houses because of airbnb and other stupid shit made for tourists. Did the creator acknowledge these comments? No.

See this is in a way funny because Croatians have a specific issue with the British tourists here to the point where there are articles written about how abhorrent and rude their behavior is.
Of course it’s a class struggle, but acting as if the working class is blameless is absolutely wrong.
