This elderly woman was one of the leaders of demonstrations against the Vietnam War in 1968, when she was a student at Columbia University. Today, 56 years later, she returns to the same place and says, “Palestine must be free.”
i feel like a lot of the ‘i hate kids’ crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid’s limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they’ve ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they’ve ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody’s told them yet that they can’t run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.
some of you in the notes.. i would say read the room but you didn’t even read. the post
have y'all noticed that it’s always the anarchist or anarchist-leaning who are pressured to compromise with or excuse authoritarian bullshit? and hardly ever the other way around?
criticisms of communist groups or state capitalist regimes are frequently met with accusations of being “divisive” while the organizations being criticized are (quite literally, in the form of borders and prisons,) constructing and enforcing barriers to social cohesion…
make it make sense!
this is not an appeal to dismiss the fact that the legacy of the red scare has had an enormous impact on popular conceptions of communism…but that’s why there’s a critical need to differentiate between accurate and fair critiques – rooted in creating a higher standard for liberatory projects – and reactionary criticism, that is the product of nearly a century of propaganda manufactured by capitalists in the imperial core to discredit and discourage anything left of neoliberal charity “activism”.
we cannot afford to waste even more effort on repeating failed experiments that resulted in the creation of authoritarian dictatorships exploiting those they claim to represent.
we must adapt to the urgency of our situation by broadening our scope to include ideas and actions that won’t create new toxic hierarchies that inspire cults of personality. we have to be willing to challenge past assumptions and biases in order to advance and challenge the powers that be.
without understanding why popular communists movements were crushed, infiltrated or rendered inert, how can we hope to liberate ourselves from the state, capitalism, white supremacy or patriarchy?
exposing the abusive tendencies in these groups and their ideologies doesn’t “divide” us, it merely empowers us to avoid the same pitfalls of previous movements and keeps us safe from bourgeois elements hoping to exploit our ignorance for their gain. not everyone who claims to be a “leftist”, communist or otherwise, is to be trusted based off of their words and aesthetics alone.
we can start by having a consistent analysis of how power is wielded, by gauging what can be done to flatten power dynamics to be more horizontal instead of creating permanent positions of authority that, even with the best of intentions, leaves us less capable of creating a society of truly liberated individuals, built from a culture of solidarity and self-determination.
let’s learn from the past. let’s be brutally and thoughtfully honest, inspire each other to do better and think for ourselves instead of trying to revive the corpse of a previous iteration of struggle, and do what is necessary to achieve this project.
I’m very tired of this “queer college students should stop supporting Palestine, they’d kill you there!” I watched a hijabi ask a trans man, “but what name do you want to go by?” A butch giving a woman their hoodie so that she could keep her hair covered after the cops took her scarf. Muslim girls making sure the lesbian couple got through the system together. Religious men making sure purple haired protestors got out safe. I don’t want to hear it. Solidarity forever, free Palestine.
[ID: A three-panel “Pills that make you green” comic. People represented by crudely drawn stick figures.
Panel 1: A crimson person with a triangular body, a cyan person with a round body and a magenta person with a rectangular body are standing out in the street. A small creature is chasing another creature, orange, which has a tail and cat ears. In the background there is a lime green person wearing a magenta tail and ears, as well as a couple holding hands, one of them wearing a sage green shirt. There is a wanted poster with an image of a moss green person wearing a bandana.
Crimson: “yeah I’m glad we’re seeing more chromatically diverse stories get the spotlight” Cyan: “it’s cool I mean a lot of people don’t even know about any chromatic-variant people other than green” Magenta: “yeah it’s about time that green people stopped hogging the spotlight. They’re so privileged.”
Panel 2: Zoom in on crimson, cyan and magenta’s faces Crimson: “Uh, I don’t know about saying it’s a privilege to be visible like that” Cyan: “I mean have you seen how vicious people are being towards green people, especially lately?” Magenta: “oh right”
Panel 3: Cut to the three standing in front of the wanted poster, showing Moss Green Person wearing a black bandana. It reads: “Wanted. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of the terrorist known only as "moss green”, contact corporate authorities immediately. They are to be considered extremely dangerous.“ Crimson: "Like I don’t think this person’s getting much from visibility right now” Cyan: “Yeah after the pride incident they’ve been everywhere” Crimson: “They’re making up so much weird shit about them, like saying they killed someone and turned them into a couch” Cyan: “Oh yeah I heard they fought five guys on top of a jet in flight” Magenta: “What are they hoping to get out of lying to make them sound cool”
The Lamb blows a raspberry. “It wasn’t gruesome, it was just…slow. And painful.” Ah. No, wait. They bring it up now because it happened here. “I remember.” Black eyes dart to him. “You do? “Of course I do. You came to my domain soaked. You stunk of wet wool.” They had been covered in algae. A lily pad stem was still wrapped around their foot before it rotted away in the Land of the Dead. They coughed up not black sludge or blood, but murky water until their lungs expelled it all. There was no wound for him to heal. No alleviating of the pain he could provide until the process passed. He could simply just stare as the lamb shivered before him.
A comic scene from a memory from The Rehabilitation of Death, and a comic for a scene I’m writing for a future chapter.
I was thinking recently about how “alt” subcultures are so aestheticized now but they used to be much more about your societal views than the clothes you wore or even the bands you listened to, and my brain connected some dots. Idk if this is anything
I work in gaming and do this all the time. I learnt long ago that no matter what games I name, when a guy demands I name what I’m playing, that they will shit on them.
So now I just make shit up when they try to “catch me out” and listen as they list how wrong I am and all the things wrong with something that doesn’t even exist. It’s a wonderful hobby and I heartily recommend it.
“why do you keep calling things you find beautiful, inexplicable, and unsettling angels” i’m just doing what british wartime radar technicians did first
i think that all the people who argue about gender by saying “the woke left cant even define a woman” need to get hit with the “who are you” question by a buddhist monk. no, thats your name, who are you. no thats your profession, who are YOU. no you fucking idiot thats your species, who are YOUU. dumb bitch u cant even define yourself
did i tell u guys i got into an argument on twitter bc i said foxes are dogs and someone tried to bring up their actual fuckin. classification or whatever and i just said “foxes are dogs cause they are fluffye” and they kept arguing with me. the entire time i was like “you will not survive the immigration to tumblr you are lucky we are not there right now”
This is especially funny because they aren’t even right. Foxes *ARE* dogs.

ykno the thing about poetry is that 99% of it is bullshit and the other 1% will cut you like a material knife, and for every person that 1% is a different section of the whole. this is probably true about all art.
@sashayed these tags feeling pretty materially knifey for me
as is tradition I would like to wish a happy pride month specifically to this Indian guy I used to work with who came SPRINTING to find me when there was some buzz in India about gay marriage being legalized (this was in like 2018ish, it’s sadly ended up not panning out) to ECSTATICALLY say “you know what this means??? it means men better start acting better, or their wives are going to leave them for women!!!” he was so excited for all of these hypothetical women who were about to finally leave their loser husbands and lez out. that’s a true ally, I hope he’s thriving wherever he is.
Introduce him to this man, and they can educate the world!
This post is kinda like my other one but a bit better lmao. I might make variations of this with other pieces of media but it depends onnn how well this is received
I think that there should be more incidental big bads
Your characters go through a door and find a boss arena with a lich in the center cackling to himself. “Finally! I have collected the seven keys to the Apocalypse Throne! Soon, the prophecy will be complete and a thousand years of blood shall descend upon the world! Mwahahaha!”
No-one’s ever mentioned an “apocalypse throne” or its keys or a prophecy about a thousand years of blood all campaign, and you have no idea who this guy is. You stop him and the game just goes on. None of this ever comes up again.
So these are both “Aw Fuck I’m outta real food” meals BUT ALSO: if you’re learning how to cook, these are great “baby steps” meals to learn how to cook basics into something enjoyable without “wasting” anything expensive. Though I maintain that even cooking screw-ups are valuable in terms of lessons learned.
Also they’re great for when you get absorbed in something and you realize your blood sugar is dropping and you need to make something Quick.
Making basic storecupboard or fridge ingredients less basic and more nutritious.
you know i don’t think we often talk about how difficult it actually is to suddenly realize that a belief you thought was good and moral and correct was actually really fucking toxic. how you have to look at something and go ‘oh shit, oh i fucked up. oh this is going to take probably years at minimum to deprogram from my brain because of all the little ways this shit pervaded the rest of my beliefs’
so. to all the people picking up all the pieces of a recently shattered world-view and trying to figure out what is safe to keep and what has to be thrown away and started over
to all the people having to relearn how to even listen to other people
to all the people putting in the work to do better while struggling with the guilt that comes from finding out you were the asshole
i’m proud of y’all.
it’s hard to admit being wrong and even harder to change in the aftermath. just keep doing the best you can and just know that the effort is appreciated. everyone can change. everyone can do better. keep fighting.
it’s so strange to see the response whenever someone gets banned that this is like. Intentional targeted banning from Tumblr. It’s not! It’s almost always someone getting brigaded until the autoban gets triggered, which is bad but it’s a different category of problem and much, much harder to solve.
If what you get from this is “Tumblr bans trans women” and not “transphobes in particular have organised methods for report brigading accounts until they get banned” you will misunderstand the problem and why it persists. It’s not a secret that the people getting banned are usually highly visible and/or get into fights a lot!
“how to look androgynous” “nonbinary fashion tips” you are skinny im not listening to you
ALT
Youre supposed to interpret it as “skinny nonbinary ppl see themselves as the default state of being nonbinary and exclude fat nonbinary people constantly especially in discussions of presentation” hope that helps
