Everytime I see a cis lesbian complaining about the ‘masc shortage’ I think of this image
Like they are acting like all the butches are being brainwashed into being trans men lmao
For every cis butch lesbian that finds out they are actually a trans man there is a trans butch lesbian who comes out to replace them. The natural balance of butches.
“It’s working BETTER after it broke” sounds exactly like something one of Elmu’s companies would say.
How fucking idiotic do you have to be to put anything that lunatic has anything to do with into your BRAIN?
Anyone who uses this deserves what happens to them.
With absolutely all respect, Wil, as someone with chronic and disabling conditions, I get why a paraplegic with limited to no options would let himself be a guinea pig for something like this. I’m currently doing an experimental drug trial, so I get it. (I’d personally hesitate before taking a treatment from Elon, but I have the luxury to hesitate.)
That disabled person, he does not “deserve what happens to them”. He deserves safe medical help, and Elon offering this up to a disabled man before it was ready is NOT safe medical help. There should be stronger laws in place to make sure this wasn’t possible.
I get being angry at Elon. I really really do. But don’t call a disabled man who is desperate to just surf the internet and entertain himself a lunatic. Boredom is painful and dehumanizing and that man deserves a better quality of life. Elon is taking advantage of him. Please redirect your ire at the man offering unproven medicate equipment before it’s ready.
This is me, checking my privilege and withdrawing judgment.
I’m sorry I didn’t even consider that I erased disabled people. I hope I didn’t hurt anyone, and I sincerely apologize if I did.
im kinda tired of the assumption that physical disability = visible, and non-physical disability = invisible. it is not that simple and it certainly aint the case for me.
Palestinians are trying to rebuild their lives in Northern and Central Gaza as the occupation focuses its genocidal war machine on the South, particularly Rafah
I love the indomitable human spirit and people’s will to persist
““Mother,” I slowly repeated in Korean. “I am not a boy. I am a girl. I am transgender.” My face reddened, and tears blurred my vision. I braced myself for her rejection and the end to a relationship that had only begun. Silence again filled the room. I searched my mother’s eyes for any signs of shock, disgust or sadness. But a serene expression lined her face as she sat with ease on the couch. I started to worry that my words had been lost in translation. Then my mother began to speak. “Mommy knew,” she said calmly through my friend, who looked just as dumbfounded as I was by her response. “I was waiting for you to tell me.” “What? How?” “Birth dream,” my mother replied. In Korea some pregnant women still believe that dreams offer a hint about the gender of their unborn child. “I had dreams for each of your siblings, but I had no dream for you. Your gender was always a mystery to me.” I wanted to reply but didn’t know where to begin. My mother instead continued to speak for both of us. “Hyun-gi,” she said, stroking my head. “You are beautiful and precious. I thought I gave birth to a son, but it is OK. I have a daughter instead.””
Many lgbt teenagers and young adults growing up on the internet today have socially conservative beliefs that they voice at all times that they got from their conservative parents which they’ve never challenged because they think the life experience of being gay or trans makes them politically progressive
This is why I hate it when people say something homophobic and then go “so you’re really accusing me, a whole ass lesbian, of being homophobic 🙄” like yeah
There’s a model of culture that I like to cite for this idea, called the Iceberg Model:
The LGBT youth (and young atheists, too) will cut off the stuff “above the water” but not really examine the stuff down below that line that they have as part of their upbringing.
So you get young LGBT people making comments like OP cited, or young atheists acting with an Evangelical persecution complex, and going, “Don’t call me Culturally Christian!”
This is the sort of thing I keep talking about when I’m saying identity is not the same as ideology.
Who you identify as (who you are) says absolutely nothing about what you believe (your ideology).
Same goes for any subcategory.
“I can’t be racist, I’m black.” If you’re making “ching-chong” jokes about Asian people, you’re still racist.
“I’m can’t be misogynistic, I’m a trans woman.” If you’re slut-shaming sex workers, you’re misogynistic.
“I can’t be queerphobic, I’m non-binary.” If you’re saying bi/pan/trans people can’t bring their hetero partner to Pride, gueeeess what.
Punching down within your own culture is still punching down.
Also people disagreeing with you doesn’t mean they’re any kind of -phobic if the argument has nothing to do with your identity. You’d think this is obvious but some insecure/unhealed people really do use that attack against others as soon as they encounter any disagreement or conflict. And the tone of discourse these days encourages people to believe those accusations without questioning.

Just realised I never posted this short comic I made in 2019! Some of the art is a little wonky because I had to rush this out in a couple of weeks for a zine fair I was attending. I think my digital art skills have improved a bit since then.
I’m not the first person to suggest that cats are staring at something we can’t see when they stare into space but I thought it would make a fun comic idea. This was also inspired by a picture book I read a lot as a kid- Slobcat by Paul Geraghty, which had a similar narrative style though obviously without the horror elements.
Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed my comic please consider supporting my work by buying something from my store or donating via Ko-Fi!
PSA: journalists aren’t supposed to put names in the headlines if the person isn’t a public figure. It’s not a matter of maliciously not giving credit
^^^as a journalist, this is something that bothers me ALL THE TIME
A friend of mine on Twitter explained this the other day, so to elaborate based on what she said: If the name is not instantly recognizable the way a public figure is, then putting the name in the headline isn’t going to bring about any sort of recognition or connection in the reader, and doesn’t do much to draw the reader into the story. But something like “local teen” does create a connection by tying the person into the community, and encourages the reader to learn more about what this local teen has done. The name will be in the article itself, after the headline has done its job at getting the reader to look into it.
It’s worth noting too that usually, according to the Inverted Pyramid writing style used for journalism where the most important information is shared first, the person’s name is usually in the first sentence of the first paragraph.
Whenever I see someone get up at arms over a headline that says “Local Teen” and the first comment is “SAY THEIR NAME” I’m always like “hey, thanks for telling every journalist present that you don’t read articles and just skim headlines.” Really makes us feel appreciated.
I think this Onion headline illustrates the point pretty well
Our (Georgian as in the country) government quietly made new additions to the foreign agent law today.
1. The foreign agent law will affect not only organizations, but individuals. Failure to comply with the law causes a 5000 lari fine.
2. The law will allow the government all of your personal information including your political stance and sexual relationships. It makes every organization forced to comply with handing over all of our information to the government. If you are queer, have differing political views, or are part of a non-governmental organization against domestic violence, your anonymity is no longer guaranteed.
3. Only thing this does not include is country’s secrets, nothing else is off the table.
This post is nearing 50,000 notes! I think that’s really cool, despite the occasional VERY judgmental notes about how I should respect my paperbacks. The ‘after’ picture is based on how my copy of Mort looked after I took it on holiday camping as a child and read it 4 times then let it get mouldy from dew by leaving it in the grass. Still readable though.
(For those interested, 50,000 notes translates to around £260 in bookmark and print sales of this design so far)
sometimes a book in that condition shows that it was loved and read many times
Sometimes readers will come to signings and sheepishly apologize for handing me a copy of one of my books that looks like this. I always tell them not to apologize–for an author, that’s literally the most beautiful sight in the world.
I really deeply hate how the correct statement “using man-hating as a cover for transmisogyny is awful and you need to be able to recognize when that’s being used as a dogwhistle” has somehow evolved into “misandry is real and that’s why terfs are wrong” like no I don’t think it is. Can we please retire Not All Men I can’t do this
Bioessentialism (which is transphobic and also racist) is when you claim people are innately Biologically Determined to be either Good or Evil. That’s nazi shit. Operating on that logic is why you’ll see terfs doing straight up phrenology. It’s also not the same thing as women venting about the very real ways men treat them in our society. Which, I might remind you, trans women aren’t men, and it’s weird to assume every time someone says men they’re including trans women. Especially when you remember trans women experience misogyny, on account of being women. Sometimes trans women are even feminists, and not in a liberal girlboss way. Can we all just use our brains a little
tbh if you’re gonna be in a human-monster relationship just get off the internet as a whole because you’re sick

I love how OP assumes I’m a girl. I am in fact a very very gay vampy guy and my bf actually likes being with me. I’m sure OP doesn’t know what that’s like, but….

If you’re having trouble keeping up with what’s going on in Palestine because of US news coverage of university protests, here are some articles you can read and a video you can watch:
While CNN & all the other mainstream media try to paint the university protests as “pro terrorism” (which they’re not, they’re literally anti-war protests.) Palestinians are being slaughtered by the minute.
Please don’t stop speaking about Palestine.
”college kids are out of control” every college with a major protest is getting swarmed by riot police and every person they arrest gets pinned by six cops a person.
Conservatives love to tout the first amendment until people they don’t like use it.

one time on another platform when i was super new to self shipping i was like. how can you believe your f/o loves you back? and someone replied “don’t they bring you comfort? that is their love for you”
i keep seeing this idea that Real wheelchair users all have custom active chairs, and that transport/standard chairs are just an embarrassing stereotype. “no one really uses those!” “stop drawing disabled characters in standard chairs!!”
well, plenty of us are a stereotype. sorry. custom chairs require MONEY and good medical support. meanwhile active chairs are unusable for some people. i used an uncomfy transport chair (the kind with tiny wheels and no way to self propel) for a year, and a standard chair for 7yrs. until i got my powerchair i was only ever pushed by a carer. a lot of disabled people will never use an active or custom chair. don’t pretend we don’t exist just because we don’t fit some cool independent ideal.
shoutout to people who use transport chairs and adaptive strollers and other chairs that need to be pushed by a carer
shoutout to people who use standard chairs that don’t fit their body
shoutout to people who use secondhand or makeshift wheelchairs
in my teens i literally felt invalid as a disabled person because i didnt have the ‘real actual’ type of wheelchair everyone talks about online. just my garbage transport chair that my mom had to push. but people with shitty wheelchairs exist and are extremely common actually
This! I see this criticism a lot in disability circles, and we really need to move away from it. Lots of real wheelchair users use hospital chairs. We can criticise movie studios/game devs/character artists for not doing proper research without throwing the people who use these chairs irl under the bus and invalidating them.
In my own art tutorial I used 2 active chairs as the first examples, because the point was to demonstrate how to make structurally similar wheelchairs distinct and reflect the characters using them, but I made sure to explain that having the money or living somewhere where the cost of the chair is paid for/subsidised was one of the things to consider when giving a character a chair like that. I’m planning to do a similar tutorial for other styles of wheelchairs (including hosptial/transport wheelchairs) soon too.
