Everytime I see a cis lesbian complaining about the ‘masc shortage’ I think of this image

Like they are acting like all the butches are being brainwashed into being trans men lmao

For every cis butch lesbian that finds out they are actually a trans man there is a trans butch lesbian who comes out to replace them. The natural balance of butches.

“It’s working BETTER after it broke” sounds exactly like something one of Elmu’s companies would say.

How fucking idiotic do you have to be to put anything that lunatic has anything to do with into your BRAIN?

Anyone who uses this deserves what happens to them.

With absolutely all respect, Wil, as someone with chronic and disabling conditions, I get why a paraplegic with limited to no options would let himself be a guinea pig for something like this. I’m currently doing an experimental drug trial, so I get it. (I’d personally hesitate before taking a treatment from Elon, but I have the luxury to hesitate.)

That disabled person, he does not “deserve what happens to them”. He deserves safe medical help, and Elon offering this up to a disabled man before it was ready is NOT safe medical help. There should be stronger laws in place to make sure this wasn’t possible.

I get being angry at Elon. I really really do. But don’t call a disabled man who is desperate to just surf the internet and entertain himself a lunatic. Boredom is painful and dehumanizing and that man deserves a better quality of life. Elon is taking advantage of him. Please redirect your ire at the man offering unproven medicate equipment before it’s ready.

This is me, checking my privilege and withdrawing judgment.

I’m sorry I didn’t even consider that I erased disabled people. I hope I didn’t hurt anyone, and I sincerely apologize if I did.

Elon Musk can still get fucked, though.

PSA: journalists aren’t supposed to put names in the headlines if the person isn’t a public figure. It’s not a matter of maliciously not giving credit

^^^as a journalist, this is something that bothers me ALL THE TIME

A friend of mine on Twitter explained this the other day, so to elaborate based on what she said: If the name is not instantly recognizable the way a public figure is, then putting the name in the headline isn’t going to bring about any sort of recognition or connection in the reader, and doesn’t do much to draw the reader into the story. But something like “local teen” does create a connection by tying the person into the community, and encourages the reader to learn more about what this local teen has done. The name will be in the article itself, after the headline has done its job at getting the reader to look into it.

It’s worth noting too that usually, according to the Inverted Pyramid writing style used for journalism where the most important information is shared first, the person’s name is usually in the first sentence of the first paragraph.

Whenever I see someone get up at arms over a headline that says “Local Teen” and the first comment is “SAY THEIR NAME” I’m always like “hey, thanks for telling every journalist present that you don’t read articles and just skim headlines.” Really makes us feel appreciated.

I think this Onion headline illustrates the point pretty well

Believing the gender binary is stupid horseshit doesn’t require me to change my gender actually

Yeaheyah you get it. Not trans but i believe in their beliefs. Sometimes i remember people form gender complexes around what alcoholic beverages or colors they like and i just wonder how they’re not fucking exhausted from keeping up this stupid fucking horseshit. Just do whatever you want forever

@nimagine i know u reblogged this from me but ur so correct 🙏 get peer reviewed

worth mentioning that the category of “cis+” includes people who detransition.

To adapt the metaphor above, some people gaze upon the void and turn away immediately, but others must begin to walk into it and feel it transform them in order to know that they don’t wish to continue that journey. These are equally valid approaches.

The old school lack of transparency on tumblr is amazing because you assume the people you follow must all be equivalent to you and then you see someone write “I brought my youngest to college today” and someone else write “my mom wouldn’t let me listen to Ariana Grande when I was a kid” and then your head explodes

and we need that! keeps us humble.

Then I’m just like WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE AN ADULT

It goes the other way, too, because WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE A CHILD?!!

I’m 16, that’s like, barely a child

I’m in my 30s. You are baby

I’m older than both of you in a trenchcoat.

honestly one of the best things we can do for ourselves is realize that people of different ages than us can still be the same kind of person as us. it’s humbling and it gives everyone involved a sense of continuity, and it busts those stupid generational stereotypes media is so fond of.

And the people struggling with all those other things that get in the way of writing and make it seem or be impossible.

You’re still a writer, you’re still an artist. And you matter. This world is better since you’re in it. Thank you for wanting to write, even if you can’t right now. I hope you and your words find each other soon.

This post is nearing 50,000 notes! I think that’s really cool, despite the occasional VERY judgmental notes about how I should respect my paperbacks. The ‘after’ picture is based on how my copy of Mort looked after I took it on holiday camping as a child and read it 4 times then let it get mouldy from dew by leaving it in the grass. Still readable though.

(For those interested, 50,000 notes translates to around £260 in bookmark and print sales of this design so far)

sometimes a book in that condition shows that it was loved and read many times

Sometimes readers will come to signings and sheepishly apologize for handing me a copy of one of my books that looks like this. I always tell them not to apologize–for an author, that’s literally the most beautiful sight in the world.

When the anti “LGBT propaganda” law passed in Russia, all of you were going insane and cared. Give Georgia the same energy. If you can have sympathy for our oppressors on the basis of them being queer, you should keep the same energy for us, if not more.

If this law passes, every Georgian queer person I know is so severely fucked, myself included. If you make jokes about “being illegal in several countries” you better fucking care about the countries you’re apparently illegal in, or going to be illegal in.

Make sure to spread this around. This is important.

Also worth mentioning

The Parliament of Georgia has started considering not only a law prohibiting LGBTQ+ propaganda and preserving family values but also amendments to the Constitution.
According to the legislation:

Only relationships analogous to marriage that involve the union of one genetic male and one genetic female who have reached the age of 18 can be regulated;

Adoption or guardianship of a minor is only permitted for spouses married in accordance with the Constitution and legislation of Georgia, or for heterosexual individuals;

Any medical intervention related to changing a person's gender is prohibited;

In documents issued by the state or local self-government bodies, only the female or male gender corresponding to the person's genetic data will be indicated;

Any decision by a state authority or private entity that directly or indirectly restricts the use of gender-defined concepts is invalid;

Assemblies aimed at promoting same-sex family or intimate relationships, incest, adoption or guardianship of a minor by a same-sex couple or a non-heterosexual person, medical intervention related to gender change, or non-use of gender are prohibited. ALT

No but seriously reblog this. If you actively reblog about LGBT rights you can also reblog this post you know. Also look through notes. Unless I see more activity on posts from Georgians I’m going to be aggressive about this

Loving the new counterpoint that not only is posting activism, not posting is complicity. Why doesn’t everyone with any fame or internet presence immediately release a lengthy but perfectly-worded statement telling us where they stand on every issue? Is it because they’re evil??? It must be because they’re evil

And then the usual answer is “they don’t post online very much”. Which is all very suspicious, don’t they know everything of importance is done by posts on social media now

Okay I’m going to talk about this for the last time bc currently the stupidest manifestation of this I’ve ever seen is unfolding, and nothing can top it or explain this phenomenon better

So Amal Clooney was one of the lawyers who advised the ICC to charge Netanyahu with war crimes & issue an arrest warrant. But apparently there was already a backlash over her “not speaking up” which is already dumb, like, as far as I can tell she has no social media, but also she’s a lawyer, she can’t comment freely on cases, that could literally destroy the case

But she was trending bc people were saying she should be forgiven, for not posting. But also there are people adamant she not be forgiven. Because she should have spoken up sooner. Helping charge Benjamin Netanyahu with crimes against humanity is not good enough, she should have been posting, she needs to be held accountable for her lack of posting while she was, again, serving as a legal advisor on a international humans rights case against Benjamin Netanyahu.

Like when you’re at the stage where people ask where a celebrity was, and the answer is “helping arrange an arrest warrant for Netanyahu”, and your response is “why was she doing that instead of posting online” I really just have to conclude you think posting online is more important than anything else. Also that your online activism revolves around finding righteous ways to dislike celebrities you have entrenched parasocial relationships with that you rationalize by going “well I obsessively hate them so it’s okay”. But mostly the Posting Is More Important Than War Crimes Tribunals part

When you understand that kids and teenagers being salty about literary symbolic analysis comes from a very real place of annoyance and frustration at some teachers for being over-bearing and pretentious in their projecting of symbolism onto every facet of a story but you also understand that literary analysis and critical thinking in regards to symbolism is extremely important and deserves to be not only taught in schools, but actively used by writers when examining their own work to see if they might have used symbolism unintentionally and to make sure that they are using symbolism effectively:

When you understand that a lot of the reaction against literary symbolism is because we don’t educate about  symbolism as a communication form (people have historically used x symbol to mean y) and instead is taught as a fact (x symbol means y) so it strips analysis of any relevance to the world or other texts AND we don’t teach tropes/archetypes/genres from a young age so students are being exposed to literary analysis for the first time as 13-16 year olds and rightfully feel like it’s been made up

Delicious. Finally a good fucking addition.

literally if you’re one of the people who sent one of those anons, what you’re doing is not only really fucking strange and invasive but also shows you cannot imagine fatness being portrayed positively without immediately assuming it Has to be sexual in nature. and if you can’t realize that that assumption is immediately more harmful to actual fat people than a fetish you imagined someone has then you don’t actually care about fat people like you’ve convinced yourself you do. leave me the fuck alone and do better.
