One thing I’ve learned in life, if you act really self-assured and confident you can pretty much get away with anything.
For example, I’ve watched someone walk on to a plane with no passport. Just walked right on.
Once walked out of a dude’s house with a pair of his pants slung over my shoulder. Did all the usual eye-contact, saying-goodbye movements and noises, just… while stealing his pants. He did not notice.
I told my English teacher that she graded my final paper(I did not turn one in) and that she told me it was well written. She scrambled 3 days trying to find the nonexistent paper, then apologized to me for losing it and gave me a 96%. Confidence is key
my dad’s mate just walked out of a shop with a canoe and didn’t get questioned
Humans are like bees: if they sense you’re an intruder all hell will break loose, but if you get inside the hive they just assume you belong there. Be confident.
Bee confident
This is funny but also true, and a huge tip when traveling. Act like you belong, and you won’t be bothered like other tourists might. Especially on public transportation… do your research ahead of time and look like a disinterested commuter and you’ll blend right in.
Fun Fact about Bees: they use pheromones to communicate and the pheromone to signal ALARMisthe same chemical that makes bananas smell like bananas so if you eat a banana and then breathe on a beehive you will regret it and this seemed relevant when i started writing it
Humans will also be alarmed when you breathe on them, but that’s not related to bananas.
Not to re-rail the post but unironically i’ve never been caught cheating bc i do it confidently, like once i was literally holding a sheet of paper that had all of the answers to a a quiz while giving my quiz to the teacher and i just passed it to a friend w/o her noticing cuz she was making eye contact with me and not looking at my hand
And there are so many reasons a kid might be quiet. I was quiet because I felt safer when I was quiet. Because I WAS BEING ABUSED. And I had to go through even more abuse at school because the teachers there wouldn’t lift a finger to stop it.
Flashback to the time my science teacher said, “If you don’t want to be bullied, don’t make yourself a target.”
Throwback to when my teacher said to me that i “basically chose to be bullied"💀
Do you know what the only thing that stopped the kids who bullied me when I was being bullied so badly I came home crying daily my entire fifth grade?
It wasn’t any of my mom’s suggestions, which were go to the teacher, go to the principal, just keep going to an adult because *surely* that will *eventually* help even though obviously it wasn’t and my life was turning into a living hell in the meantime while the authorities she put all her faith in did nothing and she didn’t lift a finger because she thought I needed to handle it on my own to learn *responsibility*. The teachers said either what this post did, or to just ignore them. Obviously none of that worked.
You know what did work?
One week when my mom was out of town, my dad was waiting by the bus stop for me. He drove his car over to some of the kids who had been picking on me, and scared the living daylight out of them by rolling down the window and asking them “so you think it’s funny to make little girls cry?” He didn’t *do* anything to them. Just scared the little shitheads so badly they hopefully never bullied anyone else ever again because they realized there would be fucking consequences.
My best friend and I didn’t have a single other issue the rest of the year. From anyone who had bullied us, not just that particular group. For the rest of the year we were left completely alone by people who had up until then tormented us every time the adults’ backs were turned.
So there you have it. Actual consequences and the fear of god (or a very angry father) are the only things that will stop bullies. Not ignoring them. And certainly not stoking their wrath more and then turning your back on them in the hopes they’ll go ‘pick on someone else’.
while they share a similar base flavor, dick tastes more umami while pussy tastes more acidic, though recent menstruation conveys an overwhelming metallic flavor that some diners object to (though i am not one of them). recommended wine pairings are

!!! Important!!!
throwing some canids into the mix
Bush dog (Speothos venaticus)
Maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus)
Dhole (Cuon alpinus)
the first two are funny because they’re probably the closest living relatives to one another, but the dhole also has a special place in my heart for being the most ‘yeah’ canine to ever exist
!!!!
Capybaras are quite creature core 🥺 just lil creatures in the world.
There are!!!! Babies!!!!
I just want to say. This is probably the most important post I’ve ever made. Please keep adding your creatures.
george floyd died 4 years ago today, sparking a second wave of the blm movement, and every day it grows more apparent that our fascist governement is working exactly as intended by continuing extrajudicial (and lets be real. judicial too) killings of unarmed black people. meanwhile, nonblacks cant be bothered to read so much as a twitter thread about antiblackness let alone essays or books 😒
This is better than I’d ever hoped for, I bet a rat could kill you with that thing by firing a laser back in time and electrocuting your grandfather
Just look at this thing
The rat gun is hereeeeee!
This is getting notes again so I will admit that “rat gun” was an autocorrect error and it was supposed to be “ray gun.”
But it’ll always be a rat gun to me.
The most expensive thing in these pictures was the cat, and he was $60.
I’ll be honest–I forgot that the pump organ desk/bar was visible in the background, and it was NOT under $60.
It was actually $75.
The chairs, however, were paid for in human life. I inherited them; they were originally my great grandmother’s. But they’re not particularly rare– you can find these exact chairs without a lot of effort, in reasonable shape, for not that much money. They made a lot of them.

Hi you asked this question and I immediately went to the pottery studio to make a calcifer to put in my woodstove.
Will update if he survives the kiln.
i am still on tenterhooks vis a vis calcifer 🥺🥺🥺
I just brought him home from the pottery studio and wired him for light. He lives!!!!!
OP just wondering do you like have the closet to Narnia tucked in there somewhere?
Dude, c'mon, these things take time.
Give me a couple hours.
Okay!! We have doordrobe! It’s not quite done but after nearly turning myself into an hellpancake while carrying this in from the garage to the house, I feel like I should call it a night.
Right now it’s not going into a secret room (but the Angel of Death (And WiFi) behind it does have a secret compartment for my router? Does that count) but Malice and Vice are still exploring it like it’s a whole new world.
The House of Horrors continues to be…well, exactly what it is.
Oh, no, all radioactive materials go in The Box.
please explain. Do you actually have a lead lined box for radioactive objects, or are you just talking about the router behind the painting?
The Box.
Not people’s teeth, no.
Holy shit. This just keeps getting better and better. Absolutely marvelous house. What other treasures do you have in that house?
I recently got some very silly dishes and a telescope!
I’m colour-blind and it’s orange. Just a different type of colour-blind (the “I’m so fucked with colours, I’ll just say if it’s dark it’s gotta be orange” kind)
We failed as a society when everyone stopped wearing headphones.
At my parents place with 2 children watching YT on tablets and 2 adults watching tiktoks and reels on their phones and trying not to summon a comically sized Loony Toons hammer out of my back pocket to smash them all.
I’m rebloging this twice im tired of people not wearing headphones when watching videos in public. It’s basic etiquette to wear headphones in public when you listen to things.
This goes double with how bunk level affordable a set of wireless earbuds is nowadays (You can get them at walmart for 10 dollars. Fuck just pocket them if you dont have 10 bucks no one cares.), and how easy and discreet it is to just have one earbud in to listen to videos and music. Its more convenient THAN EVER to use earbuds, theres no wires you dont even have to plug them in anymore, and people are out here in our shared spaces BLASTING their tiktoks and shit. Im tired of it. Its rude af, and aggravating as hell.
We’ve apparently invented an artificial stone that, when cut, functions as a kind of Super Asbestos.
So, you know, watch out for that.
Nononono silica dust is a known and common hazard in construction and manufacturing. This is deliberate and horrifying neglect on the part of these employers. They could have properly implemented engineering controls, they could have required respirators on the shop floor. What you call “super asbestos” (silica dust) has been killing people for centuries, as long as people have been stonemasons really. OSHA has strict standards regarding the PEL for silica dust, but there is a dangerous lack of awareness and enforcement of safety protocols. This is not some new horror of the culture of capitalism, this is ordinary and awful and age old neglect.
OSHA professional here with a “yes, and.” (not to correct but to add context for those who are less familiar.)
it IS neglect, absolutely, but also, “engineered quartz”/“manufactured stone” is an industry term for a specific product. I would argue that there IS no safe way to work with this product as it’s used now.
there are shops that cut the stone wet - which is more expensive but produces considerably less dust. the problem is the physical makeup of manufactured stone, which has MUCH higher amounts of silica than products that have been regulated in the past - think 93% silica. respirators do not cut it when the concentration is so high and any amount of exposure is dangerous. (PPE, personal protective equipment like respirators, should be a last resort for any hazards that cannot be mitigated in the working environment - so, in this case, they are necessary but not sufficient.) it is very common for construction job sites to skirt existing regulation, particularly smaller shops, but even when regulations are being followed, medical consensus is that there is no safe level of silica exposure.
this product has existed since the 60s. the issue is that its marketing as a designer product in kitchens has driven its uptake significantly over the past decade or so.

I want to be clear without overstating the danger. silicosis permanently disables you, accumulating damage before symptoms become evident. when you breathe in silica particles, they lodge in your lungs and cannot be cleared out by coughing. over time, the silica particles cause permanent scarring in your lungs which inhibits your ability to absorb oxygen. once the scarring has occurred, it cannot be undone. if you continue to be exposed, the body produces mucus to protect the lungs, which can eventually suffocate and kill you. treatment is solely based on symptoms management and trying to prevent the condition worsening. the only option for recovery is to get on the list for a lung transplant and hope your body doesn’t reject it. silicosis is incurable.
silicosis deaths were dropping in the US, from 1,065 in 1968 to 165 in 2004. however, they are now climbing among certain sectors of the workforce.
the australian government recently banned “quartz”/“manufactured stone” as a construction product, based mostly on aggressive pressure and boycott threats from ALL the construction labor unions, starting with the stonemasons. this was not a sure thing, given significant lobbying against a total ban from well-financed manufacturing companies. the ban goes into effect on July 1, 2024.
industry lobbyists in the US are working overtime to make sure we don’t follow suit. they’ve started in California. their tactic is to blame fabricators for not following safety guidelines (i.e., it’s THEIR fault OUR product is killing their workers), and advocate for legislation reducing the percentage of silica in manufactured quartz products, in order to avoid an outright ban. my personal take, I agree with australia’s decision. don’t expect businesses to do the right thing, especially when we know the “right thing” isn’t always enough. manufactured quartz is a luxury good - luxury in the sense of nonessential. if this product is killing people in their workplaces, ban the product.
For any followers of mine still living with parents, guardians, family, or even just with roommates and who’ve never lived alone and/or fully on your own terms (whether ye be 16 or 60), I have TWO pieces of wisdom for you for when you eventually do:
You WILL discover that you were wrong about some shit you felt pretty strongly about before. Maybe you never realized how often your mom ACTUALLY cleans the bathroom and it turns out she asked for help really rarely. Maybe, much as it grates to admit, putting $50 into a different savings account every paycheck really IS the ONLY way to save any fucking money. Maybe that big rolling trashcan you resented your roommate putting in the kitchen, and got in that big fight about, really WAS super convenient and now you have to buy one for yourself after they move out and take it with them. Maybe blanching vegetables so they retain their color when cooked actually DOES enhance a meal, pretty food slaps actually, and the reason you didn’t think it was worth the effort is because you were depressed.
You WILL also discover new shit that works SO much better for you than everything you’d been taught. Maybe you’ll discover that dropping trash off at a recycling center at your convenience works way better for your brain than getting it picked up on a set day. Maybe you’ll realize you don’t actually hate tofu, you just hate how your family cooks tofu. Maybe you’ll love being able to walk around the house naked whenever you want. Maybe you’ll find you thrive in a space with giant framed nude photography, or taxidermy animals, or fandom themed Everything. Maybe you’ll realize that keeping the thermostat set like 5 degrees colder (or hotter) than is typical makes you sleep better than you ever have before in your whole life.
The point of this wisdom is: Stay humble, but also, stay excited. There’s no point pretending you weren’t wrong about shit you were wrong about, just eat the crow and move on. But also, there’s so much to look forward to about your own space– even more than you could ever imagine when you don’t have it yet.

This is climate change at its finest. This will continue to happen due to climate change.
Long track tornadoes like this are not supposed to happen, let alone in December.
An out of season tornado that had several tornado emergency warnings out for it; something that has been issued less than 200 times by the NWS previous to 12/10/21; let alone a full outbreak in the middle of December.
This overtakes the Tri-State tornado of 1925 in both distance travelled and number of states covered. It has not been officially rated yet, but immediate speculations upon seeing the damage put it at EF4-EF5 in the worst hit areas.
The supercell thunderstorm this tornado was generated by lasted 11 hours.
the effects of this were made worse by capitalist efficiency and top-down control. Capitalism requires ecological destruction, resulting in destabilizing natural cycles. It also rewards maximum extraction of labor (having workers work as long as possible). It also gives an owner near total control of someone’s life.
This two pronged destruction resulted in an unnatural storm that workers were forced to stay in. Climate change is here and will worsen for lifetimes now, and capitalists will grow more powerful from forcing their workers to die through the disasters they caused. It must be restricted in any and all ways possible if people are going to survive the collapse capitalism has already caused.
this same heat system is now causing even more tornadoes, storms, and wind damage a few days later
Minneapolis should not be under a tornado watch in December. It’s not supposed to be almost 70 degrees in December. There’s no recorded tornado in the history of Minnesota, per NWS.
These storms are unusually destructive, happening horribly close together, and are way out of season. I’m feeling my home suffer.
Climate change will kill us if we allow capitalism to do so. We have no choice but to follow indigenous land stewardship and radically change our ways of life and social relations to survive the climate change european colonialism is causing.
