i swear it would be easier to explain if someone looked over my shoulder and saw me watching porn than to explain some of the posts on my damn dashboard…this being one of them
you ever just sit and realise u can’t remember 80% of your childhood? like … what happened? who am i ..?
Many people in the comments are saying “trauma”, but this is actually a very normal occurrence. It’s called Childhood Amnesia, and it’s a process which, as the brain reorganizes itself for cognitive thought that is developed in late childhood, it changes the Accessibility of those memories during recall. Many childhood memories are available to the person, but they will not be remembered during regular recall activity, you have to “trick” your brain into remembering with different tactics.
This is because there are two parts to memories - their encoding and their recall. The encoding determines their availability, their recall determines their accessibility. The reason why trauma memory and childhood amnesia are different is in this distinction. Trauma memory is often encoded differently, bypassing to the limbic system where it is stored as intrinsic memory. It can’t be recalled because it was never encoded. Childhood amnesia, however, seems to indicate that the memories are encoded, but we lose access to them as we age. This is most likely due to the development of brain structures that fundamentally change our encoding and recall of memory as we get older.
This is an important distinction, because trauma memory is “stored in the body”, i.e. you get triggers that send your body into a cascade of uncontrollable feelings, sensations and reactions. Whereas childhood memories won’t generally do that, they are just recalled at odd times with odd associations.
reblogging this because I’ve legit seen people freaking out when they realised they can’t remember some of their childhood, thinking they might have some repressed trauma.

The way twitter and tiktok talk about dopamine responses you would think everyone was posting from a convent
You can make anything you hate in a “pathology” by writing about how it triggers a dopamine response: food, sex, social media, pop music, whatever.
And because you use big words, people will take it seriously when you speak, even if what you are saying is “doing something enjoyable is bad because it weakens your moral fiber.” Because you didn’t say those words, you said “this behavior rewirses your brain by triggering a dopamine response.”
When quite literally any form of pleasure triggers a dopamine response! When I beat someone online at chess, it makes me happy. Does that mean chess is “the same as any addictive drug.”
I joke, but the funny thing is, people did used to say this about pleasures we now see as enriching or classy. Reading novels was supposed to rot your brain, and Beethoven was too stimulating and could ruin your morals.
what do you mean i can’t read every book, study every academic subject, taste every food, live in every city in every country, visit every museum, listen to every single song ever produced, learn every language, meet every interesting person, memorize every particle of knowledge to ever exist ???
In the second Sonic movie, he refers to him self as ‘hedgehog of the house’ in Tom’s absence instead of ‘man of the house’ further implying his gender is hedgehog
On the 28th of April, 2011, Ed Balls got a Twitter account. He decided (as most people under the spotlight do) to attempted to look up his own name. However, all he did was tweet “Ed Balls”. This, for some reason, got retweeted by THOUSANDS of people. On a global scale. And because he didn’t know you could delete a tweet it stayed. Every year since then, the 28th of April is Ed Balls day.
This is the infamous tweet
and here are some gems to celebrate that have followed the years, including last year where they framed the tweet and got him to sign it for charity
There are also LOADS MORE in this article from the Telegraph
this honestly just came out of left fucking field i would have never expected to hear anything like this in this show. consider me Pleasantly Surprised tbh
This was the autism episode
people seem to forget that house was a multiply disabled man, so it should be a given that he’d be against eugenics and eugenicist doctors
obviously i love jhutch and im usually very quick to defend his overly enthusiastic allyship in the 2010s because a) i do genuinely think he cares about lgbt rights and b) i was in highschool in the 2010s, i remember how huge it was for a famous person to be even slightly supportive of lgbt people, let alone doing actual charity work
but some of the things he said were unfortunately extremely funny in hindsight
this is where our daughter or our gay son will sleep
also this absolutely isnt his fault but when he was like “i hope one day the lgbt advocacy group i co-founded isn’t needed anymore :)” and for some reason every website in the world used this fucking headline?

a favorite theme ive noticed in ur fics is when two characters just have. completely different things going on. latest example with narinder getting his scent on lamb and lamb thinking he tried to headbutt them .. LOVE that <3
I need to know what more specific things are being noticed as a pattern in my fics because sometimes I don’t notice them until someone else points it out jdndndkkgg
I do have a list of my most common tropes but We’ve Got To Delve Further
something i have noticed lately: as a collective, a lot of gen z are simply getting tired of their phone
granted this doesn’t mean the endless doom scrolling has stopped. but i see a lot more self recognition of how phones have taken away from our ability to live our lives authentically and with variation instead of Hours of Repetitive Scroll. the dopamine may be easier but it doesn’t hit the same
this is good btw. it’s really important that we begin making the distinction between real and virtual life again
adults are always talking about how “kids will do anything to get out of school” and okay, first of all that’s not true, but I think we really need to ask why that idea holds so much sway.
children’s brains are hard-wired to take in new information and acquire new skills. consider, for a moment, just how thoroughly our society had to fuck up the concept of education for it to be a normal thing to assume kids are universally desperate to avoid learning.
couple things here:
multiple things can actually be bad at the same time
I’m 32
couple more things:
Little kids really aren’t equipped to work full time without damaging their physical, mental, and emotional development and health, and when you play the “but adults work all day!” card you sound like a nineteenth century textile baron.
Highschoolers can easily be “working” 40+ hours a week, between school, homework, and extracurriculars and/or part-time work, and still hear this smug “:/ wait til you get to the real world sweaty” rhetoric all the time.
The original claim here wasn’t even “school is too hard,” it was “school is failing to perform its most basic function,” which is different.
from an adult point of view:
- When my work day is done, it’s done. I don’t need to spend hours each night to study or do homework.
- I don’t have tests and exams.
- I MAKE MONEY.
Sometimes I’ll be at home and start freaking out that I haven’t done any homework yet before I realize “Wait I’m 30.”
Or I’ll be asleep dreaming that I’m at school but suddenly realize at the end of the semester that I’ve missed all my classes and don’t know what’s going on
School/homework has to be a stressful thing if it gives people anxiety and nightmares over a decade after graduation.
On a serious note: I agree with all of this.
On another note “you sound like a 19th century textile baron” is my new fave insult.
everytime dungeon meshi focuses on characters outside of the touden party you can really feel the looming horror of the dungeon,, only the touden party is having a silly fun time by virtue of eating the horrors
