it’s always “support palestine” until your favorite celebrities are zionists. it’s funny to me how most people choose to take the side of a parasocial relationship over supporting the PERMANENT ceasefire of a genocide that has killed over 25,000 people. how can you look at the news of the death and destruction of all of these innocent people and their homes and choose to take the side that PUBLICLY FILMS themselves murdering and torturing said innocent people? CLEARLY some of you don’t have your priorities in check. it’s actually fucking insane.

So Missouri is introducing a bill that would make it so teachers would be charged as sex offenders and put on the registry for “contributing to social transition” of trans youth.

This is so completely fucked up. A teacher can be charged with a class E felony for using they/them pronouns.

They’re making aiding trans people punishable by law. They’re making it illegal to help trans people. They want to make it impossible to support us. They want to cut us off from all resources in society. They want to starve us out.

You can read the whole bill here: https://documents.house.mo.gov/billtracking/bills241/hlrbillspdf/5874H.01I.pdf

This part is so exceptionally heinous. It lists what a sex offender can do and be charged with and they added “contributing to social transition” right under CHILD MOLESTATION AND SEX TRAFFICKING

A little piece of advice for Americans navigating what will be an increasing number of posts about US politics in the coming year:

If a post makes you feel angry, upset, and hopeless, while offering no actionable information, scroll on and don’t reblog it. I know that is going to feel harsh in some cases. But it’s important to spend your political energy on what you can actually do and not be sunk into helpless rage and despair that benefits no one.

Helpless rage is exactly what social media companies want you to feel. It boosts engagement. Don’t give them your time.

we cant use the word tma because everyones affected we cant define trans women as amab because gender is complicated transfem just means trans and fem

theres a specific group of trans people that everyone hates thats under constant scrutiny thats considered sexual by default thats constantly excluded that can be pedojacketed and harassed at a moments notice. but we can’t name it we can’t define that group because what if describing my oppression makes an AFAB feel left out?????

if you think its okay for (perisex i guess) afab people to use the words “transfem” and “trans woman” then you need to never say a bad fucking word about tme/tma. we need to describe our oppressors and victims like ourselves. either let us have SOME fucking terminology or accept that you are not an ally to trans women. oops sorry, amab trans women.

the thing that sucks is that people love saying sleep early is good etc etc and yeah it is. I’ve seen some benefits before. but I think it sucks to ignore that late night is the only time with any freedom. I think it sucks to not acknowledge the dread in waking up and it’s a work day again

“fast travel to work” is a great way of putting it. because a lot of people say “but the less time you have at night, the more time you have during the morning!” but your morning is like, getting emotionally ready to get off of bed, taking your meds, taking a shower, making and eating breakfast, going to work, etc. and waking up early will just make you do that stuff early. it won’t give you more time to rest, it won’t give you more time to talk to anyone, it won’t inherently give you anything at all even. sometimes saving up 30-60 minutes before work is just kind of a nothing amount of time. it’s like saying extended lunch break is free time. it’s not. just because you’re not actively working doesn’t mean you’re not giving your time to your employer

my recent operation saw doctors KNOCKING ME OUT, CUTTING OPEN the inside of my nose, & SURGICALLY REMOVING my septum cartilage - leaving me w/ 2 inch long splints in both nostrils for 1 week

it was called a “septoplasty” & it made me breathe clearly for the 1st time in 26 years

as a poor child, the evil doctors put me to sleep and shoved a tube up my body that sliced scars into my heart.

the procedure is called svt abrasion, and is used to treat Supraventricular tachycardia, a condition where my heartrate exceed 100bmp while at rest. those scars prevented certain stray pulses of electricity from triggering an extra heartbeat. since then I have never had a single issue with my heart in over a decade.

any procedure can sound gross or disgusting when it is intentional written that way.

I just find it strange that when cis people get gender affirming procedures like plastic surgery or implants, it is never described this way.

Gee, Tumblr would probably really hate it if you shared and spread this damning article … To the surprise of absolutely none of Tumblr’s LGBTQ users, it turns out the independent NYC human rights agency Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) found that Tumblr’s ham-fisted adult content ban in December 2018 disproportionately targeted LGBTQ users. The CCHR’s investigation revealed Tumbler’s moderation algorithms is demonstrably biased against queer content. As part of the settlement, Tumblr was obligated to review their prejudicial anti-gay moderation policies. Even more mortifyingly, they’ve also had to hire an expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues and provide unconscious bias training to their moderators. I frankly doubt Tumblr has learned a thing from this humbling experience. Just recently the Tumblr algorithm flagged three ancient posts of mine as violating their terms. All three “offenders” were vintage homoerotic beefcake images (softcore by modern standards) roughly 50 – 65-years-old by Bruce of Los Angeles, Bob Mizer and Tom of Finland. (These are of course pioneering queer artists who routinely faced censorship and imprisonment in the fifties and sixties. Plus ca change!). They’ve been visible on my page - corrupting viewers -  for years at this point. I appealed all three immediately. Only the Tom of Finland one was approved. The other two are now hidden. So, they haven’t learned much. Apparently, Tumblr – who loves to declare how hip, youthful, inclusive and progressive their values are - wants to restore trust with their queer users. I’d recommend we remember their hypocrisy when Pride rolls around and Tumblr splashes rainbow flags everywhere and attempts to pink wash their image.

In honour of Pride Month, this is worth a reblog! Don’t buy into Tumblr’s hypocritical “pink washing.”

Here is the link to the documents themselves, if anyone was curious

The LGBTQ community has seen controversy regarding acceptance of different groups (bisexual and transgender individuals have sometimes been marginalized by the larger community), but the term LGBT has been a positive symbol of inclusion and reflects the embrace of different identities and that we’re stronger together and need each other. While there are differences, we all face many of the same challenges from broader society.

In the 1960′s, in wider society the meaning of the word gay transitioned from ‘happy’ or ‘carefree’ to predominantly mean ‘homosexual’ and was an umbrella term that meant anyone who wasn’t cisgender or heterosexual. The community embraced the word ‘gay’ as a mark of pride.

The modern fight for queer rights is considered to have begun with The Stonewall Riots in 1969 and was called the Gay Liberation Movement and the Gay Rights Movement.

The acronym GLB surfaced around this time to also include Lesbian and Bisexual people who felt “gay” wasn’t inclusive of their identities.

Early in the gay rights movement, gay men were largely the ones running the show and there was a focus on men’s issues. Lesbians were unhappy that gay men dominated the leadership and ignored their needs and the feminist fight. As a result, lesbians tended to focus their attention on the Women’s Rights Movement which was happening at the same time. This dominance by gay men was seen as yet one more example of patriarchy and sexism.

In the 1970′s, sexism and homophobia existed in more virulent forms and those biases against lesbians also made it hard for them to find their voices within women’s liberation movements. Betty Friedman, the founder of the National Organization for Women (NOW), commented that lesbians were a “lavender menace” that threatened the political efficacy of the organization and of feminism and many women felt including lesbians was a detriment.

In the 80s and 90s, a huge portion of gay men were suffering from AIDS while the lesbian community was largely unaffected. Lesbians helped gay men with medical care and were a massive part of the activism surrounding the gay community and AIDS. This willingness to support gay men in their time of need sparked a closer, more supportive relationship between both groups, and the gay community became more receptive to feminist ideals and goals.

Approaching the 1990′s it was clear that GLB referred to sexual identity and wasn’t inclusive of gender identity and T should be added, especially since trans activist have long been at the forefront of the community’s fight for rights and acceptance, from Stonewall onward. Some argued that T should not be added, but many gay, lesbian and bisexual people pointed out that they also transgress established gender norms and therefore the GLB acronym should include gender identities and they pushed to include T in the acronym.

GLBT became LGBT as a way to honor the tremendous work the lesbian community did during the AIDS crisis.

Towards the end of the 1990s and into the 2000s, movements took place to add additional letters to the acronym to recognize Intersex, Asexual, Aromantic, Agender, and others. As the acronym grew to LGBTIQ, LGBTQIA, LGBTQIAA, many complained this was becoming unwieldy and started using a ‘+’ to show LGBT aren’t the only identities in the community and this became more common, whether as LGBT+ or LGBTQ+.

In the 2010′s, the process of reclaiming the word “queer” that began in the 1980′s was largely accomplished. In the 2020′s the LGBTQ+ acronym is used less often as Queer is becoming the more common term to represent the community.

The width it allows me to scroll is also inconsistent, which leads me to believe that my Tumblr dashboard, when not actively monitored, is becoming wider over time.

a great thing about people transitioning is it presents us with scenarios where we have the perfect control variable to undeniably reveal sexism in the workplace. I read about a trans man neuroscientist who was told he was “so much smarter than his sister” (his sister being his pre-transition self)

and damn i knew the gaming industry was notoriously sexist (even more sexist than other stem fields, and that’s saying a lot) but seeing it laid out so clearly like this is so demoralizing.

Ben Barres was that neuroscientist
