this is NOT because of blocking screenshots, it’s because of HOW streaming sites use your computer’s hardware to optimise performance, which means the thing rendering the video and the thing capturing your screen aren’t the SAME thing. so they can’t talk together.

you can fix this by going to your browser settings, searching for “hardware acceleration”, and turning that off.

This also fixes screen sharing to other screens. It has been GODSEND

so I (6000~FtM) got kicked out of my dad’s place like 400 years ago and all my siblings like threw me to the curb and took my clothes and tbh that wasn’t an entirely baller move from them but whatever im over it.

my other siblings (6 of em, not gonna bother giving names) are all kinda scared of our dad but im not a little pansy ass bitch so im shit-talking him to his face a lot which usually just gets my partner in huge trouble so i kinda stopped bc hey thags not cool n stuff yk

so i have this dumb fucking nephew i hate him so much anyway um we made him a depression meal bc he was sad and i hate his dumb little sad face so we all got him good food and my dad crashes this party and starts monologuing like a fucking supervillain it was so cringe stg you should’ve been there

Pretty much, though with the caveat that what you’re describing is a “theorist’s photon”. Real, physical photons aren’t infinite plane waves, they’re confined to some volume. That is, their wavefunction will look like a sinusoid multiplied by some “envelope function”. Of course, you can take the Fourier transform of that thing too, and you’ll find that it’s still peaked around the fundamental frequency, but not as sharply. The peak will be broadened. This envelope function can take basically arbitrary shapes, which makes the question of “what is a photon, really” a little fuzzy. I believe this is what led my analysis professor in undergrad to rant at me one time about how “you physicists talk about particles all the time, but what is a particle? You can’t define it! (Also, in addition to the wavefunction being complex, there’s the fact that you described the situation in 1d when of course it should be 3d, and that photons have polarization because the EM-field is vector-valued, and there’s some slight subtleties when you go from non-relativistic QM to QFT. But I agree with you that none of that really changes the situation in an essential way.)

Two questions:

• if light has a polarization, doesn’t that make the 3d situation basically the 1d situation embedded in 3-space, with the embedding determined by the polarization?
