It’s rotting me away inside that I can’t do anything to help the people in Palestine, and my government is forcing the senseless killing to continue, when we all can see that it is the murder of innocent people.

I’m a lot older than you. I grew up during the cold war and the aids crisis, and I’ve seen a lot of conflict (on the news, not in my country, at least not during my lifetime) and never before has there ever been, in my opinion, a conflict this black and white, this obviously insidious, this blatantly genocidal as this one, while governments around the world say it isn’t. I don’t understand why saying Stop Genocide can get me fired now, I really don’t

It’s so obviously, unmistakably genocidal and pure evil that it makes me feel crazy that the media and governments can act as if it is “Complicated!”

If I so much as suggest that I might support the palestians, I will lose my job. At work, I have to pretend that we aren’t transparently the bad guys here. And I don’t have much of a choice in who I work for, not if I want to have a home. I’ve been homeless. I don’t want to be homeless again. I get that like, a solution to preventing this from happening again is complicated, but stopping the bombing and the snipers and the like isn’t complicated at all.
A long term solution is complex. A short term solution of stop fucking killing people and provide aid to the survivors is not remotely complex.

The level of censorship boggles my mind. It’s terrible.

Not to electionpost but I think the fact that we’re seriously debating whether or not the president can pardon himself is evidence that we’re fucked on a deeper level than a future risk of something bad happening

This image hurts my brain more than the original debate ever did. Brains are dumb.

i wanted to like make sure this was legit and stuff so i took a section of the left and stretched it over to the right and jesus fuck

rb for the last pic being the best demonstration by far

“This is why I draw in black and white” was all my sleepy, horrified boyfriend could say.

Holy…. you know what… this last image is probably the only image that has ever been able to convince me this brain hack was a real thing and we didn’t all just roar onto the battlefield because half of us had been hideously duped… we were all duped. By our own brains.

me when mayonnaise ppl say the angry Arabs are only standing up for each other bc of “tribalism”

The average Westerner throws out the phrase ‘fuck them kids’ over the slightest inconvenience involving a child. Maybe the West really doesn’t value the lives of children, what a backwards underdeveloped society. We can only hope to help the mayonnaise people realize how much children’s lives matter. Maybe then they’ll realize it’s wrong to invade other people’s countries out of jealousy.

transsexual-experiences:

we should hype up bottom surgery more i think. both twitter transphobes and chronically online trans people really like to be disgusted at phalloplasty, vaginoplasty, ext. and i really think we should treat them as cool and sexy and neutral like top surgery scars or whatever

gentlyepigrams:

There’s a post going around Tumblr about how if you’re post-menopausal and have bleeding, you should get it checked by your doctor. I brought some minor bleeding I’d had up in a doctor visit earlier this year, prompted by that post, and this week, after a biopsy, I found out I have cancer. It’s early stage and the survival odds at 5 years are 99%. I have an oncologist appointment and we may have caught it early enough that surgery alone will be sufficient treatment (no radiation/chemo).

So that post may have saved my life and it may have made my treatment a lot easier too.

If you get into menopause and then start bleeding again, really, get your reproductive innards checked out. The life you save may be your own.

“Look at this video of a child disappointed at their expensive gift! Children are so spoiled these days!”

That’s cool. So, why did their parents upload their small child being upset online? In a public video, shared to the entire video? Why did they even save the recording?

Like. The kid in that scenario could be saying the most entitled nonsense in the world, and if their parents post it online to be publicly shamed, I’d still support the kid 100%. Thinking your child’s life is a toy to exploit freely for #content is “spoiled”; when faced with mommy vlogers, kids should be demanding three PS5s and a new Bugatti, and we should be applauding them for it

This also tends to attract a lot of responses from grown adults eager to fantasize about how they’d “punish” the kid, and. If your power fantasies involve you owning an eight year old (in the metaphorical sense not the Sixpenceee sense) I don’t even know what to say

“You don’t have to be that gung-ho on trans rights to realize that a world where girls’ genitals need to be inspected before they can play any sport is worse for girls than a world where once in a while there’s a trans girl on a girls’ team.” —Evan Urquhart

There aren’t even any girls in America who have had transitional genital surgery that young, it doesn’t happen, that’s an invented concept and since everyone responsible for that law would have found that out at some point in the process, this isn’t ignorance but genuinely just 100% calculated to be something terrifying and upsetting they can blame trans people for “forcing” them to do. They’re not dumb, they’re just willing to sink so low as to have children legally abused, or at least put the threat of it on the books, to circuitously punish other people they hate.

I really appreciate the OP of this thread mentioning that they’re looking for intersex traits. Yes, this is to try to hurt trans kids and will hurt cis perisex kids. But I really want people to internalize that they’re using bodies like mine explicitly - naturally intersex bodies that do not fit into a physical sex binary regardless of gender identity.

Please stand with intersex people. Please learn about intersexism. Please tag things like this with intersexism as well as transphobia. Please name our struggles along with your own when it applies. Please internalize that intersex people are the invisible evil awful boogeyman used in every conceivable way to justify harm to other people while we are systemically erased, abused, medically tortured, and then told we don’t belong in the queer community because we’re just sick, disordered freaks. People will see our bodies being used as an excuse to hurt other people and only think about the others being hurt and not us. We are not fucking rare and we have been screaming for visibility.

I was sexually assaulted by doctors as a fucking child because I am intersex and it makes me insane seeing shit like this being all about perisex kids suffering. I had a full pelvic and pap as a child because I am intersex and there was legitimately no medical need to do that. Please remember intersex people in these discussions. These are things we go through without sports law restrictions every single fucking day.

I assume that in the next decade, COVID lockdown will be the prototypical “explanation” for why gen alpha is the way they are, whatever that happens to be. If the stereotype is that they’re all a bunch of weird introverts, that will be due to lockdown stunting their social skills. If they’re all a bunch of gregarious outgoing types that will be due to lockdown giving them a stronger yearning for socialization they were deprived of in youth.

Probably the discourse will be both of these at the same time, with people fighting with each other based solely on their impression of the last three teenagers they spoke to.

stop saying “gen z brought back bush-era purity politics” i grew up in the bush era and even then people weren’t saying that you’re a sex addict for having boring marital sexual congress in the same house as your children. this is just plain unhinged

Literally almost every millennial I know has a memory of accidentally walking in on their parents or hearing their parents having sex. It’s fucking normal. Human beings have sex. Your parents fuck. Get over it. Being weird about it isn’t healthy.

I really loved Robert Evans’s response to this

Turkey, Malaysia, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) had announced that they back the case too. [@/ QudsNen on X. 01/05/24.]

you know bottom surgery isn’t always driven by sexual reasons, right? you know you shouldn’t sexualize bottom surgery on a post talking about how we need to see it as cool and neutral, right? you know trans people exist outside of sexual contexts, right?

I really want to get bottom surgery because I get extreme bottom dysphoria at times. I don’t want a dick for sexual reasons, I need one so I can feel comfortable in my own body, to minimize dysphoria, and to help affirm my gender.

Bottom surgery for some isn’t about sex or sexual related things, but instead to save their life and to affirm their gender and that’s okay and is something that needs to be talked about more.

If you’re not from Argentina, please read this carefully

I have no words to describe the pain I feel. after 40 years of democracy, my country elected a party whose only goal is to be a colony once again, to sell the country to Elon Musk, to the USA and the UK, to have our sovereignty impugned and erased.

I remember the video of USAmerican congressists calling Argentina an “important asset for the United States”. I remember when we told all of you to be vigilant because this was gonna turn into a genocide.

Tomorrow, the Mega DNU (Decree of Necessity and Urgency) is going to overrule most of our constitutional rights, and yesterday the Omnibus Law was presented to congress, including measures that make it illegal to gather in public without permission (state of siege), and make it so that protest is a crime. We will have to pay for the bullets that kill us, and cops will have absolute legal immunity to hunt us.

Word for word, a dictatorship. Fascism.

We’ve already gone through this many times, but I want to see worldwide protests about this. I want the UN to intervene. I want the world to make noise.

What worries me is this is not an isolated case. With many genocides going on worldwide, if the world fails Argentina, this will be the blueprint for all of the world.

Make no mistake, what happens here will happen everywhere there’s natural resources and sovereignty. If not through overt genocide, through an extremely libertarian far right that wins elections by manipulating people, funded by Elon Musk. A second Operation Cóndor.

this is so funny because the blue areas aren’t really distinct so it just looks like somebody has posted a picture of all of australia with the caption “half of australia lives here”

the other half of Australia is standing right behind you.

Your daily reminder to not put “You SHOULD be reblogging this” in your posts because you’re going to trigger somebody’s OCD. Especially when it comes to topics such as social justice or politics. Yes, your message is important but guilting people into reblogging it is not just reblog bait, but it can harm somebody mentally.

The thing is, those Manic Pixie Dream Girl movies aren’t unrealistic because that kind of thing never happens in real life. They’re unrealistic because they never show the epilogue five years later, where the Sadboy Protagonist is posting on reddit going “help, my girlfriend has cool unique hobbies and it’s embarrassing me.”

I don’t know how this comes as a shock to some people, but if you’re dating a girl with a bug collection, you’re going to be dating a girl who proudly shows dead bugs to your mom.

Hey now. Sometimes you come back five years later and now they’re both cool girls

I feel like the people who are bothered by the hobbies are loud and visible, and the people who are happy about them don’t really do much except occasionally buy cool bug themed things for their cool girlfriend, or possibly by then their cool wife.

South Africa invoked the genocide convention.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — South Africa launched a case Friday at the United Nations’ top court accusing Israel of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and asking the court to order Israel to halt its attacks — the first such challenge made at the court over the current war. Israel swiftly rejected the filing “with disgust.”

South Africa’s submission to the International Court of Justice alleges that “acts and omissions by Israel … are genocidal in character” as they are committed with the intent “to destroy Palestinians in Gaza” as a part of the broader Palestinian national, racial and ethnic group.

South Africa has been a fierce critic of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Many there, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, have compared Israel’s policies regarding Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank with South Africa’s past apartheid regime of racial segregation.

South Africa asked The Hague-based court to issue an interim order for Israel to immediately suspend its military operations in Gaza. A hearing into that request is likely in the coming days or weeks. The case, if it goes ahead, will take years, but an interim order could be issued within weeks.

[…]

South Africa can bring the case under the Genocide Convention because both it and Israel are signatories to it.

Whether the case will succeed in halting the war remains to be seen. While the court’s orders are legally binding, they are not always followed. In March 2022, the court ordered Russia to halt hostilities in Ukraine, a binding legal ruling that Moscow flouted as it pressed ahead with its attacks.

[…]

The ICC prosecutes individuals for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, while the International Court of Justice settles disputes between nations.

Balkees Jarrah, associate international justice director at Human Rights Watch, said South Africa’s case “provides an important opportunity for the International Court of Justice to scrutinize Israel’s actions in Gaza using the Genocide Convention of 1948.” She said South Africa is looking to the United Nations’ highest judicial body “to provide clear, definitive answers on the question of whether Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people.”

Jarrah stressed that the ICJ case “is not a criminal case against individual alleged perpetrators, and it does not involve the International Criminal Court (ICC), a separate body. But the ICJ case should also propel greater international support for impartial justice at the ICC and other credible venues.”
