Everyday I check Bisan and Motaz’s posts, the comments are full of people saying variations of, “we love you! you’ve changed the world! you’ll go down in history!” and there’s nothing wrong with that, necessarily. however, I wish people would think about what Palestinian reporters actually want from people when they post about what’s happening. I can’t imagine its a consolation to motaz or bisan or any Palestinian reporter trying to survive their people’s genocide that they will go down in history. They didn’t ask for any of this. It’s not pity or consolation or premature eulogising about how they’ve made history that they want. Palestinians need whatever emotion you feel harnessed into action. Yes, leave a comment to boost Palestine content against these Zionist algorithms, but be mindful of the comments you’re leaving. Be mindful that you aren’t relegating living breathing people to the past. Be mindful of the superiority that might be underpinning your pity. And above all, prioritise ACTION. go to protests, call your politicians, sign petitions, donate if you can, keep paying attention, and demanding action. You serve no one with pity. You serve no one by acting like the future is already history. Anyone who cares about Palestine has a duty to do everything they can to help Palestinians gain the freedom to live their lives.
that halfway stage of oc creation when you’re closing in on the design or the personality or both but the other half of the character’s still a nebulous concept and they don’t even have a name but now they’re alive and they demand to be heard. agonizing

I must share with you this diner in Waterloo, NY that I used to stop by on road trips to upstate nyc when I was little -- it's called Magee Country Diner and the decor is all cow themed. My family literally only refers to it as "the cow diner"
Haven't been in a while but I have very fond memories of this place from when I was a wee child :)))
man. the star wars sequel trilogy could have been so good if they hadn’t fucked it up
all the pieces were there. compelling main characters. unsubtle social satire. the main characters from the OT being jaded and frustrated by the way things turned out. funny ball robot.
it’s a shame that the plot of the first one was a rehash and disney decided that it was a really good idea to repeatedly switch directors and writing teams
me watching the force awakens in 2015 like “wow! john boyega is CRAZY good in this. I’m excited to see where his character goes, especially with the obvious hints that he’s force sensitive”
and then over the next several years seeing naught but flaming wreckage on the horizon
The bullet hell minigame style battle window in undertale and deltarune occupies a very similar narrative role to the songs in a musical film and would translate very elegantly to such, does anyone understand what I mean
Yes! They further the narrative and flesh out the characters through sequences of nonliteral imagery, and often these communicate things the literal side of the work could not have expressed as easily, just as a musical character’s singing style reveals facets of their personality
If it were an animated musical, the fight against papyrus would be a symbolic sequence of the main character surviving a zany roller coaster obstacle course of bones while he sings about himself.
This can possibly be said of boss battles in various other games, but most of those take place in what represents a more literal environment. Think of when characters like spamton actually mess with the bullet hell window or break its established laws; what would that even represent without that gameplay format? What “real events” could even capture the impact that’s meant to have? Well, I think that’d be a lot like a villain suddenly interrupting a musical sequence and using the song itself to attack a hero, for instance, breaking the usual division between what’s “real” and “just part of the song.”
AAAAAH I wrote my master’s thesis on this phenomenon and it makes me SO HAPPY to see people talking about it because (at least of 2018 when I was handed my degree) no one in the academic world is TALKING about this and I think its SO IMPORTANT to recognice mechanic design as important to video game art. The closest is Ian Bogost’s theory of Procedural Rhetoric but it always seemed sort of divorced from art and character, and plus I think there are more games now leveraging mechanical design part of the narrative for lack of a better term then when he wrote that theory.
Yeah these games are an extreme example but there’s so much emotion and meaning game mechanics can convey differently from any other medium. The amount of control the player has is important to the story at every moment for example. You can’t do that with anything else.

I really can’t believe I’ve been on this hell site for 8 years
Impart me in your wisdom of ancient times
one time there was a tumblr user with the url “pizza” and she would just comment on any text post about pizza saying “omg that’s me” and then we found out she had an entire tag dedicated to saying the n word
One time somebody paid $750 for the url ‘hi’ and got deleted in less than a year for promoting weight loss scams
There’s always been something deeply wrong with this place.
I really gotta play more minecraft with people who like building stuff. I’m almost done digging out my 64×64 block hole in my minecraft world and when my fiance asked me what I’m gonna build in there when I’m done my brain fucking bluescreened like what do you mean build something?? I dug the hole!! Building is for smart people with good ideas!! I just dig!!
Squelch! Squelch is the technical shorthand for noise gating. Your antenna will constantly pick up ambient noise, which is useless and annoying to listen to all day while you wait for a call. Squelch tells the radio to mute the speakers if the overall power of the signal coming through is below a certain level. You twiddle your squelch until it just cuts out ambient noise, and when someone tries to talk to you the extra power from their signal will go above your squelch setting and it’ll unmute so you can hear whoever’s calling you.
You know what? Fuck you. *untwiddles your squelch*
she twiddle my squelch till i end up abandoned and unidentified at a local museum
Reblog if she twiddled your squelch till you ended up abandoned and unidentified at a local museum
people who write on their phones (word mobile, gdocs app, scrivener mobile, notesapp, etc) how does it feel to be taunting god every single day
sorry op to add text to your post but uhhhh i got into a bad habit of texting myself when I had inspo and this is my warning to Not Do That because sometimes you might click the wrong conversation half asleep and that’s how you get awkward conversations like this:
murderbot is peak queer rep because it’s about living as an inherently transgressive form of being, it’s about the complexity of passing, or the complexity of hiding, or the nuance of never fitting binaries and not wanting to even when fitting those binaries is seen as “better”, and it’s about making people uncomfortable just by existing, it’s about measuring forms of freedom and having to decide which you’ll save and which you’ll sacrifice. but most importantly it’s peak queer rep because murderbot is free for like five minutes and it immediately attracts the nearest supposedly-rare transgressive-illegal-superbot (ART) in a hundred light year radius to be its best friend, and what’s that if not your classic Queer On Queer Magnetism
hi. i’m going to be $450 short on rent this month unless i get some help. i’m a digital artist, and would happily draw something in exchange for a couple bucks. examples of my work are on my art blog, but i can do almost anything, SFW or otherwise. please give me a hand, if you have the means. i’d seriously appreciate it.
Ryan Reynolds was on the run from an insanely large alien bug that kept eating him alive. Every time he was eaten whole, he would come back but one less person remembered him and anything he did.
I got excited after seeing him on the street, and he realized I was one of the last to remember him. I had to help him lure the bug under the ocean or to top of a mountain in order to make it more vulnerable so he wouldn’t have to find out what happened if he was eaten two more times.
I failed and watched myself forget him and the information about the bug, because he told me about everything before.
I tried to help when I noticed a monster was chasing a dude, but I was slow and dumb.
abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn’t be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldn’t lmao
i hope it’s okay to add this because i think it hits the nail directly on the head
Honestly, it’s like picking up a book and saying “I know all these words, I can type, I could have written this” like there’s no middle step between the technical ability and the finished work.
People say that old games dont look as good as they remember
Its because they legitimately dont.
The “fuzz” from CRT monitors was something that was definitely accounted for and taken advantage of back in the day when it came to video games! While this effect is noticeable in 3D games, it’s MUCH more visible when it comes to 2D sprites:
Just look how much more depth these simple sprites of Princess Peach and Bowser from Super Mario RPG seem to have when seen through the “dots” of a CRT TV screen!
I somehow did not know this!?!?!?
One of the clearest examples of this is using the effect for transparent waterfalls in the MegaDrive Sonic games
My absolutely favourite example of this is with Dracula’s eyes in Castlevania
