A few weeks ago the UN reported that everyone in Gaza is facing a food crisis -and that 1 in every 4 people in Gaza are starving -a quarter of their population is hundreds of thousands of Palestinian people. EVERYONE is hungry -their medical systems have collapsed and there are imminent outbreaks of diseases. How HUMILIATING and dehumanizing it is to have to fight for basic necessities. Imagine seeing a humanitarian truck -something rare because as we know the IOF has been collectively punishing Palestinian people for months now and has been committing mass genocide under the guide of ‘war.’ Not letting through resources to prevent people from dying from starvation is beyond depraved. And the fact we will NEVER see this on western/European mass media is just… absolutely infuriating.

I remember the first news yeaaars ago that some kid had thought up a brilliantly simple method of cleaning up the oceans, and even that first prototype was amazingly efficient in solving a problem that the grownup world seemed to have given up on. It was so simple I couldn’t believe no scientist or engineer had thought of it before.

My big memory of this is that every time he sent out a prototype, people would overwhelmingly go “AH HA! See? It didn’t work as advertised because a storm broke it/it didn’t filter as much as he predicted/etc.”
And every time, Boyan would analyse what went wrong, tinker with it, and send a stronger version back out.
There are still issues with it, like, but this guy isn’t some shitty billionaire - he’s a normal man walking the walk to clean up an international problem that everyone else is just wringing their hands over. I have no clue why everyone is desperately waiting for him to fail. He’s picked his hill, and he plods along, and if the latest design hasn’t met expectations, he creates a new one.

the UK’s ‘anti-BDS’ boycott bill is returning to parliament for a third reading and vote Wednesday 10th of January.
this proposed law is not aimed at individuals, it would be impossible to stop people from boycotting, but instead targets public bodies like universities, public sectors, and councils in the UK. this would prevent public bodies from making ethical choices about where they want to invest their employee’s pension funds. e.g. pension funds could be invested into companies that make arms for countries committing genocide.
the anti-boycott bill explicitly mentions Israel, trying to give them protection from public body boycotts as well as undermine the Palestinian led campaign for boycotting. it’s disgusting and disgraceful.
