not to be a nerd but it’s so crazy how he (Bernini) really did that from cold hard stone……. truly a spectacle, truly breathtaking, an honor to behold

I think you should know he was 23 when he finished this and the ass gets a lot of attention but the hand on Persepina’s side/tummy is also exquisite

before i saw the caption I knew that HAD to be bernini.

I try not to make sweeping statements but I think there’s a case to be made for bernini as the greater sculptor there’s ever been.

here’s his bust of costanza bonarelli

here’s apollo and daphne from the front, where she’s mostly human

from the back, where she’s mostly tree

and details

this is the one art form I genuinely just cannot get my brain to accept as real. I’ve watched sped-up videos of it being done, read about it, seen in-progress marble statues and I still just can’t get it to sink in or stick. My mind doesn’t want to believe that any person has ever been able to start with a big block and break little bits off of it until it looks like a finely detailed person. At some point it has no recognizable shape and they still know where and how deep they should take a chip out of it that’ll still be the right decision 50,000 fucking chips later?!?

Dan Povenmire had been pitching Phineas and Ferb since 1993 but it didn’t get picked up until 14 years later in 2007.

We could’ve been living in a timeline where Phineas and Ferb was a 90s show with waves of nostalgia for it on BuzzFeed articles.

We could’ve been seeing the Phineas and Ferb reboot by now.

I’m trying to picture what it’d look like if it was made in the 90′s but i just can’t

Here are some early character designs

It looks mostly the same

IIRC part of the reason it didn’t get picked up back then was that the networks didn’t want doof and perry to be part of the show.

True. Networks usually loved the idea but thought the show was too complicated to greenlight with the intersecting A and B plots.

Reactions in the notes:

30% people surprised Irving has been there from the start and looks the same as he does in the final show.

70% shooked by Doofenshmirtz’s original name (which was Meddleshmirtz)

And then there’s this person

Yeah, Anarky. From Batman: Arkham Origins. Apparently it is also used by real life anarchists as well, but I recognized it from the game.

I’m up to the “I dunno maybe children working 13 hour shifts is bad, guys” part of Capital and it feels important to inform people that haven’t read it yet that capitalists in the 19th century were not by any means wringing their hands and twirling their mustaches about employing children to squeeze out profits, they were hiring “experts” to write newspaper articles for them, explaining how “well, the socialists have these big demands about an 8-hour work day, and taking Saturdays off, but it’s actually just so complicated, it’s too complicated for most people to understand, we just NEED to hire children for night shifts because the stamina of their strong, youthful bodies is the only way we can survive as a business! It’s science, you see. Economics doesn’t work like that, just ask our economics professors at Oxford. You CAN’T turn a profit only working people 8 hours! Trust the experts, they know. It’s just so complicated…”

That exact infuriating cadence that you read in New York Times articles, in the Atlantic Monthly, in the WaPo and all the other bourgeois rags where “everything is so complicated, and it’s actually a lot more complicated than you think..” that has been around since the beginning. It is nothing new. So the next time you see some op-ed from Matt Yglesias or any of those other guys huffing their own farts about how “complicated” everything is, and how “unrealistic” a 30-hour work week is, remember that Marx was dealing with that exact class of “intellectuals” “explaining” how working 13 hours at age 10 was “vital” to the “moral fibre” of those poor kids.

aromantic sisyphus is cursed to perpetually point out casual amatonormativity only for allos to suddenly go “um actually I’ve literally never meant it like that and YOU are the only who really hates platonic love if you think I meant it like that you crazy heartless bitch” the minute they feel called out

you can help free aromantic sisyphus from his curse! all you have to do is actually listen to aromantic people when we talk about amatonormativity instead of calling us delusional and insisting you know more about this issue than we do desperately literally never engaging with our issues at all

People in the notes are saying they’re not sure if this is satire or not.

It very much is, and if you haven’t seen it before, it’s also referencing the famous ‘Gotcha’ comic by the same artist that riffs on obnoxious argumentative fallacies:

Kudos to the artist for making this asshat so fucking punchable that I actually want to yeet my phone to smash his face

no other option. fight and die in my war

this isnt about dragons who are multiple at once, though. this is just about dragons who are all one thing and i just wanted to see which people would prefer out of those options

the best dragons are all three at once, same goes for dinosaurs actually now that I think about it

I am so sick of schools going on about anti smoking and drugs policies. Like we’ve been taught this for years, we know this back to front. Do you know what we should be educated more on? Gender politics. Anti racism. Sexuality. The real world. Taxes. GENDER POLITICS.
Instead of going on about the same shit every year and basing assemblies on them all the fucking time, educate us on stuff we don’t know about. Like youre supposed to.
