me watching monsters inc now: monsters incorporated, a multi-billion dollar corporate giant, stood to make extra profits off a scream shortage because low supply with high demand makes it possible to charge a fortune for a necessary commodity and everyone has no choice but to pay the high prices because they can’t go without electricity. Therefore Monsters Inc, as well as any other major powers that may have existed at the start of the era of using scream energy, fabricated the idea that only screams could generate sustainable energy sources in order to create artificial scarcity, because laugh energy was far easier to obtain and far more efficient, and therefore stood to lower the value of energy due to surplus. They also fabricated the idea that human children were toxic, in order to a) make other monsters too afraid to go near them to do research and possibly discover the secret of laugh energy, and b) to make monsters so afraid of going near them that there is a shortage of scarers, making it harder for rival companies to rise up and create competition. Even in the monster world, capitalism is based on lies, greed and cruelty, and even monster companies have no qualms about using and abusing children to maximize profits.
We are living a fascist government. There is not nuance on that. It’s in plain sight, is concrete and direct in the very first weeks of it.
This is being played today, on train stations near and inside Buenos Aires. A message from the Ministry of Security, that it feels that is taken out of the most insidious dystopia-like sci-fi novel ever written.
In a quick translation: “The Ministry of Security informs: if you are going to exercise your right to protest, take into account that you can only do it in authorized places. Remember that blocking a street, avenue or road is a crime punishable by law. If you are extorted to attend a demonstration, remember that you can report it anonymously by calling 134. The Ministry of Human Capital informs that if you are a beneficiary of a social plan, no one can force you to block roads. If you comply with the law, you will keep your benefit. If you do not comply with the law and block the roads, you will not be paid. If you are forced to participate, you can anonymously denounce to the 134.”
While this was on the stations, police were entering buses on the entrances for the capital, random buses, checking for people who could have some flag, bombo or any distinct feature that could show that was going to go to today’s protest rally.
We are living a fascist government. There is no nuance, is concrete, is not even a month and they are showing the true face. A face that was there, for anyone that could see it. Is heartbreaking that so many didn’t see it, and so many are actual fascists that wanted it.

I think queer stories would be better if people stopped assuming that queer representation hinges on if two characters are romantically involved at all. Like the moment you accept characters as being queer without needing romance to prove said queerness then i think we’d find ourselves with a lot more unique, nuanced, and interesting queer stories. but by limiting queerness to only romance you are stifling queer stories.
This is why I hate the “practicality” angle society is taking. Why do we shy away from magic when it’s literally all around us? We put a magic liquid into our cars and they pull us around for hundreds of miles without barely having to think about it. And just because we have names for all the processes, somehow the wonder of it is gone.
You bring an animal home and watch it grow and change and develop a personality around YOU and YOUR home? Magical. Oh wait that’s “just a dog” and “they all act like that” fuck you that’s AMAZING.

when i was in high school i used to write my papers thinking wow i’m just bullshitting all of this. then like a week before my senior year ended after all the grades were set, i was talking to my english teacher and told him you know i just bullshitted every paper i wrote. he told me that while i may have thought i was just pulling it all out of my ass, i genuinely knew what i was talking about and made well-supported analyses. i only thought i was bullshitting because it didn’t take much effort and it all seemed obvious to me. if you do well on your essays even though you think you’re just making it up as you go, chances are you’re not pulling it out of your ass. you’re just a genuinely talented analyst, even if the analysis that you’re making comes from a subconscious understanding of the material rather than a conscious effort to study it. give yourself some credit.

My favorite Kingdom Hearts fact is that one of the biggest plot-holes that Nomura has never been able to meaningfully retcon or write his way out, a plot-hole so big that it fundamentally breaks the very rules the series is written on…
Is the existence of Steamboat Willie
Let me explain for the uninitiated:
In Kingdom Hearts 2, there’s a small detour in the story involving Maleficent trying to invade Disney Castle, the home of King Mickey. She can’t step foot in the castle due to an artefact of pure light that wards off darkness locked in the basement.
Pete, who is working for Maleficent, opens a door into the past (Before Disney Castle, this land was known as Timeless River) and decides to remove the artifact from it’s place in time so it won’t be there to stop them from getting in.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy chase Pete into the past thanks to another magic door provided by Merlin, and through some shenanigans involving old cartoons and teaming up with Pete’s past-self, they lock the door the villains are using, and return the artefact to it’s proper place so it can exist in the present.
You with me so far? Pretty straightforward-ish time-travel plot right?
Here’s where it goes off the rails.
Time travel would go on to become a staple of Kingdom Hearts going forward and would come with a very strict set of rules over how it operates:
1. You can only travel to a point in time where a version of yourself exists
2. You basically give up your body to do so, and travel as a disembodied soul unless you have a vessel to inhabit
3. You can’t alter the past in a meaningful way, what’s going to happen will happen
4. You lose your memories of said trip once you return, but your actions could leave a lingering instinct on your other self that could influence their decisions
“Wait” you may be thinking “Why should anyone go through all those hoops? Wasn’t time travel super simple that first time?”
And you’d be totally right, because the existence of Timeless River completely renders all of these rules and restrictions meaningless.
There is no version of Sora that existed in Timeless River before he step foot there, everyone kept their bodies, the trio and Pete were able to mess with the timeline as freely as they pleased, and they all very much remember their trip.
Nomura has never been able to meaningfully explain this super simple, easy way of time travel and the more convoluted method co-existing other than a cheap-throwaway line from one of the villains saying that Merlin “broke the rules”
The hilarious part about this line is that it implies that PETE of all characters is actually more powerful than the actual villain of the series, because Pete opened a door into Timeless River through sheer willpower and nostalgia for “the good old days”
But the all-knowing chess-master of a villain who had an evil plan several decades in the making with countless moving parts and contingencies to account for had to use the roundabout, more complicated method of time travel where a lot could go wrong.
Pete though? Dude just casually broke all the rules of time travel because he felt like it. He’s just built different.
TL;DR: Steamboat Willie breaks Kingdom Hearts lore in half, Pete is more powerful than Master Xehanort, and I fucking love this beautiful trainwreck of a series you guys it means so much to me

I remember the video of USAmerican congressists calling Argentina an “important asset for the United States”. I remember when we told all of you to be vigilant because this was gonna turn into a genocide.
Tomorrow, the Mega DNU (Decree of Necessity and Urgency) is going to overrule most of our constitutional rights, and yesterday the Omnibus Law was presented to congress, including measures that make it illegal to gather in public without permission (state of siege), and make it so that protest is a crime. We will have to pay for the bullets that kill us, and cops will have absolute legal immunity to hunt us.
Word for word, a dictatorship. Fascism.
We’ve already gone through this many times, but I want to see worldwide protests about this. I want the UN to intervene. I want the world to make noise.
What worries me is this is not an isolated case. With many genocides going on worldwide, if the world fails Argentina, this will be the blueprint for all of the world.
Make no mistake, what happens here will happen everywhere there’s natural resources and sovereignty. If not through overt genocide, through an extremely libertarian far right that wins elections by manipulating people, funded by Elon Musk. A second Operation Cóndor.

And then my grandfather asks what kind of bread we’re making. And we’re like no we’re thinking through a hypothetical experiment with an unplugged pressure cooker. And then my grandmother asks why you’d make bread in a pressure cooker. And we say no for the millionth time we’re just wondering what happens to yeast if you put it in an airtight container. Do you think they’d just run out of oxygen and die? We could probably look this up somewhere. And then they ask where we found this recipe and why it’s in a pressure cooker and we say no it’s not a recipe in fact what we’re considering could create botulism or something and then they ask what has botulism and we’re like there is no botulism we’re considering the possibility of it if we were to do this hypothetical experiment. And then they ask. What experiment? I thought this was a recipe. And then we say no it’s not a recipe we’re talking about performing bad science in our garage with yeast and a pressure cooker and then they ask why would you put yeast in a pressure cooker
