Reblogging this one bc it has options for indesign bc artists aren’t the only ones affected and graphic designers are getting played too and ignored in every one of these fucking posts
I hope this helps anyone who’s trying to design their oc using a wheelchair, it’s not a complete guide but I tried my best! deffo do more research if you’re writing them as a character
US people with disabilities in the supplemental security income (SSI) program can’t have a penny over $2K in their bank account at any time in order to keep their benefits.
You know this economy. That amount is completely unlivable & makes it hard for people with disability to save for the future or have a safety net for emergencies.
A new bill would raise the max to $10K (or $20K for married couples). It would make a world of difference.
While we’re complaining, I’m also getting really tired of staff replacing commonly used, muscle memory features with new features to force us to repeatedly click on the new feature, only to “hear our concerns” and “roll it back” when it was only ever a transparent way of forcing us to interact with the new features
Replacing the search tab with tumblr live, replacing the BLOG tab of all things with tumblrmart, and now replacing the add tags button with an add community labels button. It’s getting kind of infuriating!
And I’m not even opposed to tumblrmart and community labels! I’m using them. I just hate getting slapped in the face with them for weeks at a time!
That’s not even to mention replacing double-tap to zoom with double-tap to like (a feature which was already present on posts but now applies to images you’re looking at), replacing “swipe down to exit image” with “swipe down to see a random assortment of images from people you don’t follow and never will”, and whatever godforsaken thing is going on with the new video player that never loads
And this fucking guy that won’t go away even while I type this!!
As you know, art and artists make Tumblr what it is. We want everyone on Tumblr to be able to fully express themselves while also having control over what they encounter on their dashboards. That’s why we’re introducing Community Labels, an extension to your “Content you see” settings. Our ultimate goal is to create a more open Tumblr, and this is our first step in that direction.
As a poster and reblogger, Community Labels are your way to help your followers avoid anything they’d rather not come across on their dashboards.
As a follower, setting your content preferences is a way to adjust your feed to your own comfort levels.
How does it work?
When creating new posts (or editing old posts), you’ll see controls allowing you to label your post as unsuitable for those filtering certain content types it contains.
When content is labeled, it will either be hidden, blurred, or displayed normally, based on each user’s preferences.
In your “Content you see” settings, you can now choose to show, blur, or hide content that depicts the following topics:
Drug and alcohol addiction: Contains discussions of substance abuse or addiction experience.
Violence: Contains violent or graphic content similar to what you might see in an age-restricted movie.
Sexual themes: Contains sexually suggestive subject matter, such as erotic writing or imagery.
Some examples of content that would require a community label:
Fanart of your favorite ship engaging with each other in…a very private moment
Euphoria GIFs showing Rue’s substance abuse
A movie trailer depicting graphic war scenes
A graphic 50 Shades of Grey edit
This doesn’t change our content policies: spam, hate content, and porn bots are still not welcome in the community. It’s also still important that we abide by app store rules, which means we need to make sure that mature content is only accessible to people who are old enough and have opted in to view that type of content. More information about Community Labels is available in the Help Center.
This is an opportunity to work towards a richer, more nuanced Tumblr experience while making sure everyone who enjoys using Tumblr can do so safely. That future we mentioned above? We’re already moving towards it.
okay wait i went back and screenshotted some (most?) of the good ones that were like on the main plot here so you all saw the top posts with the Irish Stegosaurus well that evolved into
also kind of unrelated but because of this stupid subreddit im actually not as bad at identifying flags

I Am Not Your Asian American Doll: a comic for AAPI Heritage Month 2023
I usually spend a lot of time editing and fine-tuning my comics so that they come across as polite and inoffensive. But honestly, I’m really tired of the way Asian cultures and countries are treated / talked about while Asian people themselves are excluded, and thought it was about time I really let my rage out lol.

I made a quick chart on how to talk about things related to sex/gender without just falling back on either ciscentric “men/women” language, or just using AGAB for everything regardless of whether or not it makes sense.
it’s text so I just copied it if that’s okay
[ID: 1. How is wo/manhood related to what you are trying to talk about?
Sex (it’s related to biological characteristics) -> 2
Gender (it’s related to society & culture) -> 3
2. Can you specify what characteristic/s are related? (i.e high estrogen is correlated with certain symptoms, a genetic condition relies on having a Y chromosome)
Yes -> Then use biologically specific language (i.e “people with estrogen-dominant bodies” “XY people”)
No -> Use AGAB language- I suggest using it in past tense (i.e she was assigned male at birth) to emphasis that this assignment happened in the past and sexual characteristics can change over the course of your life
3. Can you specify what aspects of gender are related? (i.e misogyny victimization is correlated with certain conditions, having a masculine name makes you more likely to be hired)
Yes -> 4
No -> If you really can’t specify, use terminology like “people perceived as women” “assumed men” that acknowledges the issue is fundamentally social and that non-women/non-men may be affected as well, even if the issue is targeting men/women.
4. ls this aspect actually tied to gender identity, or can non-men/non-women also be affected? (for example: men can be victimized by misogyny, women can have masculine names)
Yes -> Then feel free to use gendered language, although be open-minded if someone says that they have had an experience despite not being the “right” gender
No -> Use non-gendered language that opens the door for people who aren’t the “right” gender to be included (i.e “targets of misogyny,” “people with masculine names”) End ID]
chimney swifts are so weirddd theyre like if birds decided to be bats.
thats bats. those are bats. to me
just like what a strange little creature. theyre related to hummingbirds. they cant actually sit and perch like most birds, the best they can do is cling to vertical surfaces. almost everything they do is done in mid-air. they have to drink by swooping at the surface of water with their mouth open. they build nests out of twigs they break off of branches as they fly by. they eat 5000-6000 bugs a day. And theyre the next president, of the united states of america

How come I’ve seen so many comics, animation, etc that feature exactly one character who looks like someone turned a borzoi into a man. Like you know the type, long-faced as hell, sad narrow eyes, fluffy hair, body type is Long and consists like 50% of leg, the most likely character to have a completely different accent than anyone else in the setting. Like why is that distinct type so common, or do I have some Baader-Meinhof thing about it.
Why are there so many characters that look like This. Why is this a type. Why are the borzoi men. Who keeps drawing them, and who are they drawn for. Who the fuck ordered all this fucking longboi.

Why though? You should ask why they have not had an independent state in all that time?
They overthrew the Ottoman Empire with help from the British with the understanding that they would be allies with the British. Instead Britain invaded and occupied the country, partitioning it up for sale and accidentally double sold it. Then realized they are super anti-semetic and if they created a zionist colony, they could encourage the Jewish population in England to move there. They chose Palestine and began forcibly creating settlements there. When the Palestinians resisted, they decided it was a bit more effort than they liked and WW2 just happened a few years before, so they gave it over to the newly formed UN. The UN thought this was a great solution to no one wanting their Jewish population anyway and they greenlit, with plausibly deniable language, the joint British and Zionist settler efforts to kill or displace all the Palestinians necessary to create two states: Mandate Palestine and the brand spanking new religious ethno-state Israel. Of course the UN condemned that act of ethnic cleansing later, when it was already done.
[ID: in the same thread, a quoted tweet by suhauna hussain reads:
actually, it wasn’t just a dozen LA Times employees who signed, it was more than three dozen. and yes it’s true we’ve been taken off coverage, which in effect removes a great many Muslim journalists and most of not all Palestinians at the LA Times from coverage
As always, you can blame editors @shelbygrad @meridak @LATimeskraft for this bullshit. They took many Muslim and most Palestinian journalists off of covering Gaza. Now this.
