in high school I was in the child development class where we ran the preschool. Class ended and I moved onto the next class, an art class. Sit down next to my friend who was working on a serious piece and casually asked for my thoughts on it, looking for serious critique.

His name is Brendan Depa and his mom is on television literally begging the teacher not to press charges because they’re trying her son as an adult and he will most likely die in prison. His teacher is legit refusing claiming she’s “sparing anyone else her trauma”, the racist bitch. I can’t.
I want to also especially note that he’s being tried as an adult, despite being 17 at the time of attack, and they refused to acknowledge his disabilities during the charging, claiming they are not a defense. His mother had fought hard to not have him sent to a public school, but his behavioral group home didn’t give her a choice (which I already question how he was treated there). To the surprise of no one, the system has failed this boy, and instead of rightfully directing her anger towards that system, the teacher is placing it on him. Even if only the minimum sentence is given, he will still spend roughly 3 years in prison. That alone may be a death sentence for him. He needs proper support and treatment, not a prison sentence.

i just had the funniest experience in vr chat, i joined a random server and the one i joined had Japanese people so i waddled around in my goofy club penguin avatar that i have saved, after a while a guy walks up to me and clones my avatar so were both penguins then another guy shows up and clone my avatar

Look, if someone was very irresponsible they’d look up drone parts and buy a set of 2.4GHz and 5GHz directional antennas (yagi or, not patch) and then get a set of 2.4GHz and 5Ghz noise generators (illigal almost everywhere) or look up how to make them (weirdly easy to do apparently) and then they would wait for the display to start and turn on their contraption with the antennas point towards the display. Because the drones would be communicated to from the main computer on either 2.4GHz or 5Ghz, a contraption like this would cause anything from a section, to all, of the drones losing communication and automatically landing. The fact that they waited until the display was in progress means that all that set up time would have been waisted so the rest of the show can’t go ahead and they’ll have to spend a few days checking everyone over.
Don’t do this. it’s very illigal to make a jamming device. Even though you’d be using a long range antenna so youd be safely far away and almost totally undetectable even to people beside you, especially if you hid it in a bag or small box. It’s very illigal. Don’t.

There are a lot of comments on this post about how this infographic introduces the idea that corporations are responsible for the vast majority of carbon emissions and ends it with a “here’s how you can help!” type message. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to point out this inconsistency, they probably could have designed this graphic better, but I would like to elaborate a bit on why there’s still work to do as an average person.
When we talk about initiatives like composting, buying locally, etc, there is often a lot of focus on reducing carbon emissions because this is a marketable and politically attractive pitch. The reality is that of course your backyard compost pile is not going to counteract BP dumping oil into the world’s oceans. What is ACTUALLY does, is start to set up an alternative to the way we live now.
Compost can divert a lot of waste from landfills, and organic waste in particular is pretty bad when just left to rot, but it also gets people engaged with ideas about soil health, and could potentially pave the way for greater infrastructure for composting (which imo should have the same setup, or better, than municipal garbage).
Similarly, buying locally or from small businesses won’t hurt Amazon. But it does set up a localized economy, which can then be expanded to offer more, which in the long run can divest your community from larger corporations like Amazon or even larger industries like Big Ag.
Individual actions will not save the world. True! But individuals can build communities, which can change how our world works. This is worth your time and energy.
Of course, larger structural issues will need to be addressed, for one thing if say, the oil industry collapses, the United States government will likely bail it out before they will switch to public transportation. Similarly, many people have no choice at the moment but to utilize gas and oil because they have no suitable alternative.
