If you didn’t hear, Substack is now officially a Nazi site. Officially as in “the CEO has said they wouldn’t ban Nazis, and that they are welcome to monetize their content on Substack”. I think this is the first time a major web platform has openly say they are ok with making money out of open Nazis and white nationalists.
Substack CEO reasoning is “we don’t like nazis, but we defend their right to be nazis”. But, of course, at the same time, substack bans sex workers from using their platform.
So yeah, if you have a Substack account, maybe it’s time to move somewhere else. As they say, if there’s a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis.

Tiers of “heroes don’t kill people, but we still want the villain to die because something something justice” in ascending order of “well, technically”:
Hero simply leaves; villain coincidentally killed shortly thereafter by something unrelated. Example: murdered by treacherous minions.
Villain accidentally kills self while attempting to harm hero. Example: shoots at hero, misses, struck by improbable ricochet.
Hero and villain’s conflict leads to perilous locale from which only hero escapes. Example: fighting on train tracks, villain hit by train.
Villain defeated non-lethally; dies anyway due to unpredictable or outside factors. Example: villain disarmed, dies of magic curse.
Hero employs lethal force, but that isn’t what kills villain. Example: villain evades hero’s attack and falls off cliff.
Hero deliberately employs environmental hazard to kill villain. Example: hero throws villain into live electrical wires.

you forgot the main one where the hero shows he isn’t a blood thirsty dude out for vengeance by trying to save the villain last second, but the villain rejects this and voluntarily submits to whatever was about to kill them
That’s more of a sub-trope – it can land anywhere from tiers 2 to 5 depending on how exactly the villain got to be in that predicament in the first place.
One of the best things about Tumblr, imo, is sometimes you can scroll through the awful content… But you don’t then get it recommended to you.
On tiktok, you see some godawful opinion and you want a further look at what exact kind of crazy they are? Are they being ironic? Is this satire? Oh, no, they actually do think that… Ex. Women should belong to their husbands. Welp, you’re now gonna have tradwife / terf / alt-right / trumpie content on your fyp for weeks because you scrolled that account for a few minutes. You keep pressing ‘not interested’ but tiktok believes you’re a republican now.
Here, you see something crazy - let’s say, uh, Human Pet Guy (rip, example would be before he deactivated obviously).
You see a post of his and you’re like “Woah, wtf, is this satire or is he just like this?” You go to his blog to check and Tumblr does not assume looking at human pet guy’s blog = you want a human pet and does not start bombarding you with human pet content. When you are done trying to understand how someone can think like that you can return to the safety of your dash, which remains unchanged.

As a queer Gen Z, I constantly think about how there’s such a huge chunk of the queer community that’s simply… missing. So much of the queer community died during AIDS that almost an entire generation of us is simply not there anymore.
Those queer people were supposed to be our teachers, our mentors, maybe even our parents or grandparents. Those queer people were supposed to be there for us. They were supposed to be at pride events, welcoming all the young queers. They were supposed to be representation in our careers. Those people were supposed to be there to help us navigate life as queer people, and it’s devastating for both us and them that they never got to do it.

Lord George Gordon Byron was an English poet in the early 1800s.

His only child from a legitimate marriage was from his wife, Lady Anne Isabella Noel Byron, who straight-up left him after a year. You know how divorce was uncommon in the 1800s? His wife was just so fed up with him that she did not care and left when her daughter was five weeks old.
This daughter was named Ada and would become known as Ada Lovelace.
Byron signed the separation papers and then left the country to have sex elsewhere and would later die when Ada was eight.
During that time if a couple divorced, usually the Dad would get full custody, so just in case he tried anything Lady Byron made sure to play the devoted and overattentive mother.
Lady Byron was absolutely paranoid that her daughter would become an insane gothic mess like her dad so she decided the only thing to do would be to make sure she did not become a Poet™. So she heavily encouraged Ada’s interests in science and mathematics.
Around the 1830-40s, Ada met Charles Babbage through a mutual friend and he showed her his prototype for a mechanical calculator. She got absolutely obsessed with this machine and began helping him out with it to the point where her notes on it became more extensive than his.
She also added notes to a translation of a paper on this engine that is considered to be the first published algorithm.
These notes on the engine and translation became the basis for computer programming.

Vampire fiction and science fiction as we know it today also exist as a direct result of his friends being stuck in a cabin with him during a storm so there’s that as well. Hot vampires and sci-fi nerds are also his fault.
She was one of the people stuck in the cabin (well I think it was more of a 19th century Airbnb that the group of friends rented for a holiday that was then ruined by the weather) with him. Since they couldn’t do any outdoor activities they decided to write spooky stories and read them together instead. She wrote Frankenstein, kicking offthe science fiction genre, and Dr John Polidori wrote… I’ve forgotten the title and it might just be “The Vampire” or “Vampyre” or something like that but anyway he did that. Dracula is much more influential now but that was the first big vampire novel. Byron didn’t create either genre but arguably motivated their creation by being an annoying horndog so they wanted to stay in their rooms writing instead of hang out with him.
It’s also worth mentioning that the summer they were stuck in that cabin is referred to as the Year Without Summer and was directly caused by the eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia the year before. It is also blamed for failed crops and mass famine on almost every continent, and the explosion could be heard something like 1600 miles away. The eruption of Tambora and the subsequent lack of summer worldwide is estimated to have killed anywhere from 100,000 to many millions of people. If all the deaths from diseases such as cholera and typhoid that found perfect conditions to spread rapidly during the famines are included, the total death toll could be estimated around 40 million people worldwide, which would put it on par with world war one.
TL;DR: Byron being a goth slut led directly to his daughter inventing computer programming, and being stuck in a cabin with him during crazy weather patterns caused by the largest volcanic eruption in modern history on the other side of the globe directly led to the invention of the genres of science fiction and gothic horror

i made this quickly; i’m not very good at traditional art, but, in summary:
on my father’s side, i am of the darumbal nation in what is now called queensland. in this image, the river separates the darumbal people on one side from the white settlers on the other side. during early settlement, we were curfewed to one side of the river running through our homeland. the settlers would massacre us for fun, for sport, steal our children, and forcibly displace us. we were decimated and our language was almost destroyed. but we survive.
