If there’s one movie genre that’s gone missing and which should be picked up again, it’s affectionate genre parodies. Movies written by people who genuinely love some one specific type of goofy movies, pick up all the tropes and clichés of it, and then take all of the unintentionally comical elements of the genre and then do them on purpose. Both the big overarching big defining traits, and the subtle little details that can only be noticed by someone who’s seen 1000 movies of this genre.
Like yeah yeah the hero always has one of these two or three occupations and the sidekick is always someone like that, but did you notice the background actress with that exact specific shade of bad hair dye that was the cheapest when these movies were being made back in the day? One specific glass bottle prop that was nicknamed “the bomb bottle” because you knew the movie was going to bomb if they couldn’t afford anything better than that, except this time it’s a lore gag because they make a makeshift bomb out of it. They use the bomb bottle as a bottle bomb! A pun as a plot point! And nobody but the film fans would even know that!
I know that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” doesn’t mean what people think it means, but I miss that time when movie parodies were made by people who love what they’re mocking. I can’t sit through one of those mean-spirited “we hate everything about the source material so hard that we didn’t even read/watch it” movies. If the creators got nothing out of creating it, I’m not going to get anything out of watching it.
Fun Fact: It gets you downtown, and is accessible both in terms of disability access andlocation are the bare fucking minimums that you should be able to expect from a transit system. If it doesn’t at minimum meet those 3 things, it is not a good transit system.
I thought the blue text was a link and I kept trying to press it
“some people don’t deserve redemption” redemption isn’t something that’s deserved, it’s something someone does. it’s making the choice to change the way you live your life, to be better, to do good things instead of bad things and try to make up for the bad things. and everyone can and should do that, at any time, no matter what they’ve done. we can’t change the past, but we can choose what kind of person to be now and in the future. we have the responsibility to do so. it is so completely not about “deserving.”
Previously, parents were told SIDS could be prevented if they took proper precautions: laying babies on their backs, not letting them overheat and keeping all toys and blankets out of the crib were a few of the most important preventative steps. So, when SIDS still occurred, parents were left with immense guilt, wondering if they could have prevented their baby’s death.
Dr. Carmel Harrington, the lead researcher for the study, was one of these parents. Her son unexpectedly and suddenly died as an infant 29 years ago. (…) Harrington explainedwhat she was told about the cause of her child’s death.
“Nobody could tell me. They just said it’s a tragedy. But it was a tragedy that didn’t sit well with my scientific brain.”
Since then, she’s worked to find the cause of SIDS, both for herself and for the medical community as a whole. She went on to explain why this discovery is so important for parents whose babies suffered from SIDS.
"These families can now live with the knowledge that this was not their fault,” she said.
(…) As the cause is now known, researchers can turn their attention to a solution. In the next few years, those in the medical community who have studied SIDS will likely work on a screening test to identify babies who are at risk for SIDS and hopefully prevent it altogether.
are pokemon sentient enough that I could send my Scrafty to the store with a shopping list and money and he’d be allowed to shop by himself when he gets there
my shiny Scrafty in the cold aisles trying to decide on cheese

war and murder are awful. killing another human being is a horrible thing to do. swords and guns are cool as fuck. these two beliefs exist simultaneously in my mind and do not conflict at all
Hello, I didn’t make it in time but I still wanted to share this short guide on applying varying line weight onto a drawing.
In my first year of art college, drawing class was like a treasure trove of new tips and knowledge which I looked forward to every week. I used to only draw either very lightly overall or with the same intensity and no variation in my lines.
But one of the first things introduced to us in drawing class was how to vary our lines and mark making to capture light and shadow through just our line drawings. I never noticed the big difference it made to drawing only in a line with the same weight or which was uniform in pressure. I saw how it added more depth and fluidity to the character or subject making them less flat and stiff overall.
So ever since then I have tried to observe more and make thoughtful decisions of where I can play with the pressure of my lines while drawing.
Remember my unsung artist rant? Here’s how to make an unsung get heard.
THIS IS TRUE yet people still dont do it.
Get those reblog buttons green guys
GREEN = SEEN
❤❤❤❤
Also, I’m a lot more likely to follow someone or reblog if it’s from a follower of mine as opposed to Tumblr’s stupid algorithms trying to push it on me. Just a thought.

I want to get notice
I appreciate all the notes I get, but it’s true that reblogging can get a bigger audience to see it too.
this is such a non-issue but truly no greater tragedy than seeing a piece of media furryfied and they’ve made your special guy the wrong animal. like that animal does NOT align with the themes in my little guy’s story, do it again.
not everyone can be a wolf, not everyone should be a wolf. hold this in your heart and come to terms with it.
Considering the Ibis are indigenous here and the cane toads are not, this is FANTASTIC news. The cane toads are seriously disrupting some fragile ecosystems, and previously there haven’t really been any predators for them (other than e.g. my mother swerving to hit them when we go up north to visit rellos).
you know what there were a lot of jokes in this movie that went over my head as a kid
that’s because this movie was filmed as an R-rated (18+) parody, but at the last moment before release, warner bros decided it would loose them too many fans of the cartoon for children and sully the good name of Scooby Doo and had the film re-edited down to PG. why do you think so much smoke was coming out of the mystery machine? why shaggy’s girlfriend is called mary jane? daphne and velma were lesbians and one of the first instances of cgi costumes on human actors was used to raise the neckline on their blouses. Freddy was played as gay with only the scene where they admit it deleted.
if you don’t know about this, seriously look it up. here’s a very toned-down wiki article but there’s much more out there. this film sounds like it was written for tumblr ten years early
Honestly thats a fair thing for tim curry to do. Scrappy doo is evil
okay i looked into this and apparently this isnt even just dracula the wolfman and frankenstein’s monster like. they’re DESCENDANTS of them who are normal guys who turn into a vampire a werewolf etc. they do this to “atone” for the actions of their ancestors.
ALT
this is them normally and they apparently transform by slapping their hands together and shouting WACKO and this is called the “drak whack.” dracula is alive too. they call him Big D.
in more “israel is a terrorist state” news, you might have already heard that they targeted al jazeera journalist wael el dahdouh and his cameraman samer abu daqqa in an airstrike on another UN school refugees were sheltering in yesterday, dec 15. you might have already heard that wael was able to get out and walk ten minutes while injured until he found a car to take him out. samer could not walk and was left to bleed out. al jazeera had a counter for how many hours he was left to bleed out while they pleaded with the red cross, any international body, anyone, to intervene. nobody could get through the israeli snipers and bombardment of anyone who tried to rescue him. after six hours he died.
you might not know that three emergency workers were also killed trying to rescue him. ramy bedeir, nour saqr and hosny nabhan were all murdered by israeli forces when they went to rescue a photojournalist bleeding out in a bombed UN school.
these are some of the everyday practices of genocide. just constant, unending, state-sanctioned murder of palestine’s bravest.
“all zelda games are bad” clearly you’ve never played horsequest
ok so explanation of horsequest:
9 months ago i figured out how to glitch majora’s mask 3D to let me remotely control epona; i then got epona into places they’re not supposed to be and posted pictures to miiverse claiming i was playing “horsequest”
