The hover discs Aunt Arctic mentions automatically despawn after you use them to place the detectors/transmitters in both episodes they appear in. With the knowledge that Gary does not test his inventions often, to the point where Aunt Arctic feels the need to warn you…is that intentionalfeature(keep in mind you use them to access higher up areas like the ceiling of the Sea Caves)…or a bug because he did not test them? Keep in mind the discs disappear near-immediately once you’re done placing objects, so you CAN end up free-falling to the ground afterwards from several feet above in the air.
Knowing this, what else is this man hiding? Sure, we know that the Auto-Warbler 3000 works…but is that because this is an invention he personally tested, or in spite of being untested? Did the Jet Tube’s avoidance systems have glitches because of an unforeseen bug Gary happened to run into…or is this something he made, gave to Rookie and didn’t test for whatever reason?
Keeping this tidbit in mind, is Gary knocking down Herbert’s defenses because he is SO smart, or did he just get lucky? Is he better at programming than making inventions? Or does he actually test his coding skills more than his inventions? If so, why?
IF this ‘brilliant penguin’ was intended to be Gary (which I’m fairly certain it is but hey, CPI closed down before it’s time so who knows for sure?)
Is the reason the Party Sub ended up sitting in the Sea Caves related to his tendency to not regularly test his inventions? Or was it simply because it broke while he was testing it?
Because he does not test things as rigorously as his Club Penguin counterpart (who, as we know makes up to 3000 versions of his inventions before they are considered done, and asides from some examples like Mascbot’s being used at their 'near-perfect’ 2999th iteration or prototypes like the Electromagnet 1000 are rarely used until then)… does Club Penguin Island Gary name his inventions with the '3000’ at the end because they have been tested, or for aesthetic reasons?

oh ABSOLUTELY. not testing inventions often enough to the point the bestie (aunt arctic) needs to inform people FOR him??? especially for something as potentially dangerous as the hover discs? i can’t say he would get mad because we rarely really see gary get angry outside of dealing with herbert (system defender comes to mind), or the dirty look he gives blizzard when he was messing around with the ghoul catcher in halloween panic, but i think gary being disappointed, which he ABSOLUTELY would be is much more scathing <3

Anyway while we’re on the subject of public misconception towards living things (which is completely understandable because have you SEEN living things? There’s like dozens of them!) here’s a fresh rundown of some common mistakes about bugs!
Arachnids aren’t just spiders! They’re also scorpions, mites, ticks and some real weirdos out there
Insects with wings are always finished growing! Wings are the last new thing they ever develop! There can never be a “baby bee” that’s just a smaller bee flying around.
That said, not all insects have larvae! Many older insect groups do look like little versions of adults….but the wings rule still applies.
Insects do have brains! Lobes and everything!
Only the Hymenoptera (bees, ants and wasps) have stingers like that.
Not all bees and wasps live in colonies with queens
The only non-hymenoptera with queens are termites, which is convergent evolution, because termites are a type of cockroach!
There are still other insects with colonial lifestyles to various degrees which can include special reproductive castes, just not the whole “queen” setup.
Even ants still deviate from that; there are multi-queen ant species, some species where the whole colony is just females who clone themselves and other outliers
There is no “hive mind;” social insects coordinate no differently from schools of fish, flocks of birds, or for that matter crowds of humans! They’re just following the same signals together and communicating to each other!
Not all mosquito species carry disease, and not all of them bite people
Mosquitoes ARE ecologically very important and nobody in science ever actually said otherwise
The bite of a black widow is so rarely deadly that the United States doesn’t bother stocking antivenin despite hundreds of reported bites per year. It just feels really really bad and they give you painkillers.
Recluse venom does damage skin, but only in the tiny area surrounding the bite. More serious cases are due to this dead skin inviting bacterial infection, and in fact our hospitals don’t carry recluse antivenin either; they just prescribe powerful antibiotics, which has been fully effective at treating confirmed bites.

Crane flies aren’t “mosquito hawks;” they actually don’t eat at all!

Wasps are only “less efficient” pollinators in that less pollen sticks to them per wasp. They are still absolutely critical pollinators and many flowers are pollinated by wasps exclusively.
Flies are also as important or more important to pollination than bees.
For “per insect” pollination efficiency it’s now believed that moths also beat bees
Honeybees are non-native to most of the world and not great for the local ecosystem, they’re just essential to us and our food industry
Getting a botfly is unpleasant and can become painful, but they aren’t actually dangerous and they don’t eat your flesh; they essentially push the flesh out of the way to create a chamber and they feed on fluids your immune system keeps making in response to the intrusion. They also keep this chamber free of bacterial infection because that would harm them too!
Botflies also exist in most parts of the world, but only one species specializes partially in humans (and primates in general, but can make do with a few other hosts)

ive been to a lot of protests in my life and a thing that a lot of people dont understand is that a protest is a threat. its a large group of people saying “we are being nice now, but you must understand that if we stop being nice we have the power to cause you Problems”.
so everyone saying that protests have to be more polite or follow accepted rules is missing the entire point. the point of a protest is not to say “we disagree with you”, they already know that. the point of a protest is to make it clear that if they continue to do things you disagree with, you will burn down their house.
now this wont stop them because theyre stupid and arrogant and believe themselves to be beyond consequence. so here’s the really important thing and that’s that after they do it anyway, you have to burn down their house
I cannot stress this e-fucking-nough. My great-grandmother - hell, most of my whole family - were on the civil rights marches. The fact they had to be so peaceful was because everything done during those protests was breaking the law. None of it was legal, none of it was nice.

i get that they’re not killing them and they end up fine, but imagine the trauma of you, a mammal, going through a long ass tube, not knowing what’s going to happen to you, and you can’t breathe. 🤷♀️
They get misted with water throughout the thing, and it results in fewer injuries than the ‘ladder’ method. Also, it’s a fish. It never knows what’s going to happen to it at any point in time throughout its life.
Also, I, a mammal, have paid 80 bucks to get into a water park to get the opportunity to feel like that fish, and that motherfucker gets in for free every day is fish day at the fish waterpark
well the MOST humane thing would be to not build dams blocking salmon migration routes, nor create a society where there are only resources allocated to solving the problem at all because blocking the salmon endangers the profits of a segment of the food industry.
Buuuut since we’re past that already, here are a couple of additional thoughts:
1 this IS the more humane alternative, which was invented to lower injury and death rates associated with previous techniques. When a better alternative is revealed it will probably replace this one. But this one is a pretty huge improvement over the other methods, one of which killed off something like 80% of the fish involved.
A study of the above fish tube was conducted by Pacific Northwest National Laboratories in 2017 on the Columbia River and showed a much higher success rate. In that study, only one fish died (“due to a human error during the system setup”) and only 3 percent had signs of injury. So. The next best improvement might have to be “remove dam”

A new study has found that your car likely knows more about you than your mom. That is disconcerting, but what’s even more so is what is being done with your information. It’s all about the Benjamins. Our private information is being collected and sold.
The Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit that studies internet and privacy issues, studied 25 car manufacturers. And it found every manufacturer sold in America poses a greater risk to your privacy than any device, app or social media platform.
Our cars are rolling computers, many of which are connected to the internet collecting information about how you drive and where. New cars also have microphones and sensors that give you safety features like automatic braking and drowsy driver detection. Those systems are also providing information. Got GPS or satellite radio? Then your car likely knows your habits, musical and political preferences.
Did you download your car’s app which gives you access to even more features? Well that also gives your car access to your phone and all the information on it.
The study found that of the 25 car brands, 84% say they sell your personal data.
And what they collect is astounding.
One example the study sites is KIA’s privacy policy. It indicates the company collects information about your sexual activity. I initially didn’t believe it until I pulled KIA’s privacy policy and read it. And it’s right there in black and white. It says it collects information about your “ethnicity, religious, philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, sex life, or political opinions.
And it says it can keep your info for “as long as is necessary for the legitimate business purpose set out in this privacy notice.”
Translation: Nissan can keep your information as long as they want to. And more than half of the manufacturers (56%) say they will share your information with law enforcement if asked.
