opinion that shouldn’t be controversial: a student shouldn’t need a doctor’s note to have access to free screen readers, audio copies of class content, physical copies of class content, accurate subtitles, unlimited doctor’s appointments, their sensory needs met, etc etc. student’s shouldn’t have a medical barrier, which goes hand in hand with sexism, racism, classism, and ableism in general, to basic education.
all students should have access to all of these materials. they shouldn’t be opt in. accessibility should be the default in education, not some sacred collection of half assed accommodations only accessible to students with a diagnosis

The chairs, however, were paid for in human life. I inherited them; they were originally my great grandmother’s. But they’re not particularly rare– you can find these exact chairs without a lot of effort, in reasonable shape, for not that much money. They made a lot of them.

Just a reminder that Vincent van Gogh did not eat yellow paint to make himself feel happy, he ate paint, and drank different chemicals because he was suicidal and this is why he was not allowed in his studio while having breakdowns. He also did not paint starry night and his other great works because he was depressed, he painted most of them while he was in recovery and demonstrated his hopefulness and love of the world through this. Most of his great works were painted from his room at a hospital. Van Gogh’s depression should not be glorified. His hope and effort toward a better life, as well as his recovery from depression should be glorified.

house and wilson are both committing malpractice but in like. opposite ways. house is so detached from his patients that it sometimes actively harms his diagnostic process and almost always causes unnecessary distress/harm to his patients but wilson is so. so disgustingly disturbingly attached to every single person he treats. he sleeps with patients he gives his liver to a guy who doesn’t even know his name his office is a literal monument to the items he’s collected from everyone he couldn’t save. they’re both incapable of maintaining or respecting personal boundaries but it manifests in vastly different ways.
Appreciation post for everyone explaining a joke in comments and posts when someone doesn’t get it, for people willing to explain pop culture references that fly over someone’s head, for people answering genuine questions about some issue someone has trouble understanding, for people who take enquiries about “common sensical” stuff in good faith, I love you <3

I hate asking, it sucks to have to do this every month. But people have been incredibly generous with this and I’m so grateful, every time.
Our dryer is broken, so we need to get a repair guy out, and so it’s a little more than I usually ask for, this month.

so bc i am a Gross Dude my friends i and sometimes rate our burps and my coworker (who is a teen girl) burped in front of me once and i instinctively rated it
so now every time she burps she looks to me hopefully for a rating and bc she has delicate little baby burps i now have to create an entirely new Burp Rating System unique to her bc i rate anything below a 5 and she looks at me like this
i spent $32 on this fucking bowl at the moma and at first i felt bad buying it bc it was so expensive but ive had a terrible day today and every time i look at my lil bowl im like :o) you know what. i can get through anything with this bowl by my side

I don’t know how long I’ve been here. Time seems to pass differently. But the place is cozy and private so I have no complaints. And whenever I’m hungry, I go outside with my bowl and walk down the hill to the shore. Sometimes the lake is made of soup. Sometimes it’s huge pasta noodles the size of barges. Sometimes it’s breakfast cereal. Sometimes it’s dumplings the size of great whales. I dip my little bowl and take a portion and carry it back up to the house.
Today I found a new bowl! In its center is a little hill with a little house. I will carry it down to the shore and fill it up, and whomever lives in that little house can have a tiny portion of my meal. I hope they have a nice bowl to put it in..
dont get me wrong this is #mood but just try eating a piece of bread with salt. please, seriously. ok? at least a tiny bit. salt helps with nausea, bread calms the stomach acid. if you really can’t face eating anything, just lick some salt like a damn elk, then wait and see if you can manage the bread. make some broth if you’re into that kind of thing. no spices, yes salt. if you’re feeling too weak and shaky to do much, just have a cup of tea with sugar (energy) and lemon (again, good against nausea). nibble on the lemon first, it will feel good, but don’t overdo - citric acid on an empty stomach is a majorly bad idea. take care of yourself, you’re the only you we’ve got

fear of another european war was somewhat understandable, but by 1936 it was clear to anyone paying attention that the fascists had expansionist ambitions and war was only one of the horrible things they planned to bring to europe. it should also be noted that at this time there were a huge number of white americans who were not only okay with the idea of fascism, but actively wanted to try it at home
that’s not to say we can’t appreciate the artistry of this piece, but it’s also good to be aware that this particular anti-war message is propaganda against fighting nazis and we are not immune to it
