I’m a very “incremental changes don’t fix a broken system” type of person, but Biden’s NLRB deserves credit. It’s obviously operating within existing labor laws, but it’s a been doing everything within that legal power to help unions and it’s a significant reason for the success of so many unionization pushes in the last several years

Biden, to his credit, went and fired the Top Lawyer of the Board immediately (the first time a President has exercised this authority since 1950 lol). I don’t think he himself has done anything that different since then - his appointees came from SEIU, which is pretty normal afaik, and he waited for a normal term to expire before getting his 3/5 majority on the Board itself.
That alone has been pretty big - it reset the inertia of the Board, putting a new majority to work with a new General Counsel, who has forced Amazon to allow workers to organize throughout their facilities. This was crucial to many (all?) recent Amazon unionization votes. They’ve also forced employers to hire workers fired for organizing.
I’m not finding huge seismic changes in policy - obviously Biden isn’t passing new labor laws even if he wanted to. It just seems like his firing of the General Counsel allowed the NLRB to really hit the ground running and give full support to a wave of grassroots unionization. Nice

6 days ago the NLRB released a decision reviving the Joy Silk doctrine. Starting now, the federal government will recognize a union as soon as a majority of employees sign union cards - no election needed. If the employer requests an election (I’m sure they always will), the Board will automatically recognize the union if the employer is found tampering with the process. This means firing organizing workers, intimidation/harassment, etc., will result in an immediate union victory.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to call this the biggest change in labor law since the doctrine was killed off in the 70s. I also actually believe that Biden’s NLRB will enforce it. This actually deserves its own post, it’s that huge and it just happened. I’m so glad I did this research lmao
this is a great time to keep in mind that all change is inherently incremental! there is no end goal or standard unit of progress, and it is not possible to snap our fingers and change a system- even the Glorious Revolution would happen in increments.
And the Great Day of (Unproblematic, Uneugenical, Ungenocidal) Revolution, uh, seems to be on the same delivery schedule as the Second Coming of Christ… so increments at least alleviate some human suffering in the immediate present.
Not trying to be argumentative but for perspective, only 9.5% of US workers are members of a union. There’s lots better countries if you want to be envious of strong organized labor

my experience is with wellsfargo but i imagine that most major banks may operate similarly:
if you have an overdraft fee, call the bank, you will get a machine. go through the autentification process with it but do not mention your issue when it asks you to (specially not the word overdraft – this is a conspiracy theory i cannot prove but i swear to god they rewire you to more aggressive phone people if you tipoff the machine) instead say “i’d like to speak to a representative” the machine will be like “lol didn’t get that” so you may need to repeat it a couple more times before it wires you to a real person
wait! i’d recomend calling as early in the morning as possible to avoid elevator music.
be nice to the customer service person who picks up (i make a point of thanking them for their help and calling them by their name, if i don’t catch it the first time i ask them again for it)
my script is something along the lines of: “hi, i noticed there’s an overdraft fee in my account that posted on [date]. i am calling to see if we (WE – you and the representative are a team against the problem) could do something about it” (<- you may decide to be more direct, i just put my innocent hat on)
most if not all of what they say to you is a script. they will be like “i will check that for you with the automated process that takes into account you previous refund activity” BLAH BLAH BLAH. more waiting. if you have had any refunds in the past 12 months, they will be like “sorry the system says no (:” THOUGH, VERY RECENTLY, they have tacked on this question: do you have any thoughts on that / how do you feel about that / etc. though even if they do not prompt you, here’s the next step:
say: thank you! i appreciate the automated review, however i do not agree/approve/consent to being charged a fee. is there any way you could check again / anyone else i could talk to / would it be possible to refund it regardless? etc.

To my understanding, it’s essentially 2D Dead by Daylight with the theme being Cats vs. Mice. I think when the game started they didn’t have much for characters so you could play as a few different versions of Jerry. But the roster seems to really filled out now.

The older you get the more you will realize that your friends are people who have made mistakes and bad decisions and even just fucked up and hurt people.
And obviously your boundaries with your friends are completely up to you but you do need to recognize that if you cut off everyone who has done something wrong, you’re going to end up with no friends (and you yourself will have also fucked up in your life, and not lived up to those impossible standards either).
I’ve found it’s much more constructive to learn how to say “hey dude, that was massively fucked up of you,” because most people are really willing to say “yeah, it was, I need to work on it/not do it again/apologize and make things right” ESPECIALLY if they are hearing it from you as their friend.
Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for another person is to tell them that they’ve done something wrong, help them fix it, and stay their friend because it’s what we would want from them if we did something wrong.
