just so it shows up in the notes: this is an extremely good thing, which is why you will see the internet/cell companies revolt against it– it will prevent them from selling your data to spamcall companies and selectively throttling their competitor’s sites, among other things.
also remember that the internet has basically replaced phone service entirely now, with most phones now simply operating via VOIP. legislating the internet the same way as landlines were is really a no-brainer, it’s the same service in a slightly different form.
my century-old great grandfather taking a sip of whatever concoction 8-year-old me brewed for him by using every button on the soda fountain instead of the iced tea he asked for
“kids are getting indoctrinated into transgenderism” did you know that left handedness increased from 3% to 12% when they stopped beating left handed children.
And, fun fact, it plateaued! Just in case you were confused and suddenly afraid that the world would be exclusively lefties now that we are no longer enforcing right-handed-ness.
Does that sound similar to any other stupid viewpoints you might have? Hmmm?
Your compliance and silence as well as the compliance and silence of your ancestors is what allowed these schools to open and kill first nations children. The children of MY people.
Dont follow me if you cant reblog this post or the one with sources to your political blog or your most popular blog. Add trigger warnings if you must but if your political blog is only focused on the harms you personally face like being lgbt then you need to see some bigger pictures and stop being afraid of angering your racist mutural or actually saying some shit about racism. If you can reblog some antifa graphics or add blm to your bio to be a surface level ally, you can reblog some sources on the genocide first nations people faced and still face today.
They were CHILDREN.
They were murdered in cold blood.
Iβd like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldnβt have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how βgreatβ they were.
Hereβs another photo of the legislative assembly from yesterday. Later on there were more items, candles and signs at the memorial, as well as a big poster with 1505 painted on it but I didnβt get a picture
People need to see this. Not just quickly glance at the photos and keep on scrolling. They need to see this.
Reblog this or just stop following me
I had seen the first picture of the church, but not the second.
I went to a βCancel Canada Dayβ event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.
This is my countryβs legacy - and itβs not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.
They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my countryβs attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for godβs sake.
tbh shoutout to the over 40s on tumblr, sorry the internet acts like yall belong in the retirement home when ur literally just regular adults with hobbies
I was going to leave comments in the tags, but I decided this was important enough to put on main.
In college, my friend group collectively got into the SCA - Society for Creative Anachronism. They’re the people who get really into medieval reenactment, the fighting and crafts and cooking, they have kings and queens and knights and events and a good percentage of them (but not all!) work or have worked at Ren Faires.
I am forever grateful my friends dragged me into that, because it was my first introduction to fandom in older adults. Middle-aged dorks. Elderly nerds. Absolutely as intense and weird and hilarious and fun as any fan in their teens or 20s. I started getting into fandom already knowing there was a road ahead for me as I got older, full of handmade costumes and late night movies and shelves of pewter dragon goblets and mixed-aged road trips to meet ups and conventions.
And it kills me that so many people don’t know that sort of community even exists. On both sides, even! I went to Philcon a few years ago, which tends towards older fans, and an older woman I was talking to sadly told me that she thought fandom was dying out, because she never saw younger fans any more.
Over the past decade, there’s been a really toxic movement towards keeping different ages strictly separated, both in and outside of fandom. There’s this strong implication that if an older person wants to interact with a younger person, there is something inherently predatory about that.
Yeah, that attitude sucks. That drive towards separation and puritanism sucks. Declaring that younger people should have nothing to look forward to and that older people should stay separated and lonely sucks. It sucks and we are all worse for it.
Don’t fear age. Don’t put an age limit on having fun. Give yourself a damn future.
You know what? Call actual predatory behavior βpredatory.β It is possible and important for old people and young people to have healthy relationships.
so I started a new anxiety medication this past week and so far itβs been going very well except that I have extremely vivid dreams and apparently sleep texting. I seem to have sent this at 3am and i have no memory of it
I came into my room and there was a web directly across the inside of my doorway even though it had only been a couple of hours since I last walked in here. Of course I immediately thought of this old Far Side which is never too far from my mind
Anyone have that image of like 8 ways of settler colonial justifications ? One of them is terra nullius, can’t find it.
This one?
Image provided is a list titled ‘Eight Stages of White Settler-Colonial Denial,’ which lists the following stages:
1. “They didn’t exist” (terra nullius) Complete denial of Indigenous presence in a given area (country, province, etc). Includes denial of Indigeneity, e.g. “Indigenous Peoples are Settlers too”.
2. “If they did, the weren’t here” (terra nullius) Denial that Indigenous People inhabit/travel/harvest/exist in a specific area. Often based on euro-centric definitions of evidence of occupation.
3. “If they were, they didn’t use the land” (doctrine of discovery) Denial that Indigenous People have a connection with the Land. Often based on euro-centric worldviews of the land as something to be owned and extracted.
4. “If they did, they didn’t deserve it” (great chain of being) Denial that Indigenous People have rights to their Lands. Often based on euro-centric value judgements of “primitive vs. civilized”, “nomadic vs. sedentary”.
5. “If they did, they lost it” (right of conquest) Denial that Indigenous People retain their rights to their Lands. Often based on colonially imposed European systems of law / “might makes right” worldviews.
6. “If they didn’t, it doesn’t matter any more” (Westphalian sovereignty) Denial that Indigenous Rights are still binding and take precedence. Often based on false claims of supremacy of colonial legal institutions and systems.
7. “If it does, we need to move on” (liberalism) Denial that violations of Indigenous Rights require redress. Often based on on claims redress is “disruptive/unfair/reverse racism” & false calls for “equality”.
8. “If we can’t, we are you” (self-indigenization) Denial of separateness of Indigenous Peoples and Rights. Often based on attempts to reduce Indigenous Rights to Human Rights, claim Indigeneity, etc.
this is for the people who donβt believe that sharing videos and tweets is doing anything we NEED people to see that there are very real consequences for fake reporting we NEED them to know that they are neither welcome nor save among the people in solidarity with Palestine
If companies didn’t forcibly switch their free trial to a payment plan immediately after the free trial ends so that I have to be extremely cognizant in order to not be taken advantage of, I would actually do free trials and have a better chance of deciding to buy their subscription or whatever. But because I have to be on constant alert to make sure I cancel the free trial before they use my forcibly-given credit card information to charge me money without my consent, I never do the free trial that they believe will convince me to pay for their product.

Alright, Imma explain this in a way you shitters can understand. There are several types of immortality.
Immortal until killed: These are the ones where old age means nothing. Elves, vampires, and deities fall under this category.
Immortal until natural death: This is kinda the opposite of the first. They wonβt die until they perish from age or some other natural cause.
Immortal hive mind: This is just a collection of creatures with a hive mind, so while you can kill the body, you canβt kill the mind.
Immortal under special conditions: These are like the immortals until killed, but you can only kill them in special ways. Think liches, Baldur, etc.
Immortal only in name: Sometimes immortal is given as a title to those who are extremely hard to kill. A title for a warrior like βQentyl the Immortalβ or some shit.
Immortal reincarnation: This one is pretty self explanatory, if they die, they come back as someone else.
Immortally returning: These are the ones who can be killed, but always come back. The best way to describe them is like the perpetuals in Warhammer 40,000. Vulkan and the like.
True Immortals: These are the worst immortals. These are typically the ones we think of when we think immortal, but we often do not think of the full ramifications of being a true immortal. A true immortal never dies, be it from natural or unnatural causes. Age will not kill them, nor will anything else. These are the ones that will outlive the heat death of the universe (look it up, itβs kind a scary). This is a fate worse than death.
Idiots: The idiots that confuse immortality and eternal youth. They are not one in the same.
True immortality is not as bad as it sounds, as long as you have access to multiversal travel.
Since I can auto-regenerate:
Iβm basically an immortal who could only be killed in specific conditions.
Fire and lasers
Nah, thatβs just being a troll. Like, thatβs the weakness of a troll.
