No one wants to work anymore. All kids these days want is to physically transform into animals. Bones cracking, breaking, splintering apart, stitching together into exhilaratingly new shapes. Hair, all kinds hair, various fluids and oils and whatnot. Ragged-lip maws dripping with alien teeth, crowning in teething agony like the birth of an infant god. Gore-streaked visages howling in pagan delight by the pale light of the moon, etc. No work ethic. He who makes a beast of himself takes away the pain of clocking in tomorrow
this just made me realize… pretty much all of the monsterfuckers I know have some sort of disability or are LGBT+ (tho most of the LGBT+ ones also have disabilities; the rest might idk). I’m trying to think of one who doesn’t fit either/both categories and I’m coming up blank.
This is a REALLY good article about why monsters mean so much to trans folks, and it just… it says what I’ve never been able to articulate as a trans man who resonates with monsters.
Friendly reminder that the original monster movie “Frankenstein”, the sequel “The Bride of the Frankenstein” which has heartbreaking single line after unrequited love (after the Bride rejects Frankenstein because she can see what he is), and the original film adaptation of “The Invisible Man” where all directed by James Whale who was an openly gay man in 1930s Hollywood.
LGBTQ and disabled people have been seeing themselves in the “other” or “The Monster” since the early days of cinema.
This chain made me remember a picture I was drawing for the pride month several years ago but never finished. My sona finding themselves out as a monstrous deity of destruction is legit an allusion of me being lgbtq+ and suffering from the feeling of being wrong and being ashamed of my nature. It’s so relieving to see I’m not the only one who sees monsters like that. And YES, I fully agree that all of this is tied.
(Also, this was the real dialogue between me and my mom. And this is what basically inspired me in the first place.)
differentiating between healing magic and necromancy by making them phenomonologically distinct is Exactly The Problem I Am Railing Against!
This is an especially fun debate in a Dungeons & Dragons context because the game’s schools of magic are structured in such a way that healing magic could plausibly fall into like six out of eight of them, and its placement keeps wandering from edition to edition. Healing magic has historically been Transmutation, Necromancy and Evocation, and I think the forthcoming it’s-not-a-new-edition-we-swear is shuffling it over to Abjuration for some reason, which has several fascinating implications. I think they should just bite the bullet and give every school of magic its own distinct healing spell, see what happens.
The idea of the magic card “Swords to plowshares” is essentially that target creature rejects the way of the sword and becomes a farmer instead, hence you lose them as a combatant but gain the health from their farming.
This is really fuckin funny in conjunction with a lot of potential targets for that card. Can you just imagine you’re an average farmer in an MTG plane, have a normal-ass day, and all of a sudden you look to the east, and stretching up past the clouds you see Ulamog, the despoiler, one of the infamous eldrazi titans, a creature that corrupts all that is good by its mere presence. And all the enormous bastard is doing is using their massive fuckin tendrils to plow the land and plant potatos, and tend to their flocks of eldrazi spawn, and then it turns its eyeless head thats the size of several cities at you and tips its wide brimmed straw hat at you and continues going about its worm.
For the record, these are the cards in question
Spell: Swords To Plowshares; upon failing a Will save, the target permanently gives up any quest or bloodlust for the life of a simple farmer. The spell is surprisingly easy to cast and has no limit to the size or scope of the target.
Come on man, couldn’t even manage a whole fiver? Those adult performers work hard and you’re out here waving barely enough cash to buy less than one gram of weed? Shameful.
I’ve never even heard of this before tho??? Wtf??????????
oh my god, I didn’t think there were any surviving versions of this post left
For those who weren’t around in the Deep Lore times, this is one of the relics of the editable post era. This post has THE SINGLE HIGHEST NOTES of ANY post on this site, bar none, but with more than a dozen variations. Every single post you’ve ever seen with more than 3 million notes has been a different version of this one.
This is the “Dean’s Gym Shorts” post. This is the Flubber post. This is the original “Reblog if you support gay people” post. it was ALL of them. before half the site got nuked, it had even more notes than it has now - at one point, well over 15 million, and that was years ago.
This, with no exaggeration, is the ONE TRUE heritage post
What if two little trouble makers went out into the snow to draw a penis but they didn’t delegate beforehand who would do the balls end and who would do the head end, so they both accidently do the same one and just end up with a bone
it sucks so bad as a leftist to see someone at your job who just. fucking blows. just sucks terribly at their position. refuses to take in any criticism or learn anything. and like, you know absolutely they wouldn’t be good at any other kind of job in this sector, like they’re just doomed to struggle in the only space that they can actually get jobs. and im like, i hate you here, but i cant want you to quit or get fired because i know you definitely need this job. but you’re making my life so much harder by being here. i just dont know what to do about it
anybody on this post who thinks they should get fired missing the point of this post
